I have had a philips soupmaker for years, but then I discovered the soupmaker from Morphy Richards with the saute function. And I really prefer that I can bake my onion, garlic, lardons and spices before adding the rest of the ingredients. So you might want to test that one too.

I was really excited to receive this today. I thought I'd try the mushroom soup (page 59 of the recipe book). I added the ingredients EXACTLY as indicated. The taste was great, but visually, not so much. It was grey in color and the consistency was watery. I'll try some other recipes before throwing in the towel.

I found the same problem. Watery soup, and I found that recipe lacked flavour. Definitely needs tweaking. Next time I’ll use chicken stock and not as much liquid as they suggest as well I will add some garlic and more thyme. The device itself works great, had homemade soup in no time. Easy directions, easy cleaning so can’t wait to try something else.

That makes sense. Phillips is a Dutch company, and Dutch food is bland and tasteless. 😂

great soup maker puree or chunky it is 2020 technology a game changer I use it for leftover veggie. Instead of throwing veggie away I make 20 minute soup. 5 stars soup it and add chop meat just like the restuarant

It is not 2020 technology. These soup makers have been around for years and years. They are soy milk makers that have been adapted a bit to appeal to westerners. That does not make them any less useful, but truth does have its rights too.

I mean, I love kitchen gadgets but this device doesn't look particularly good at either soup making or blending. The consistency looks very uneven. You can see chunks of red onion that didn't get blended in the gazpacho. And the sweet potato soup looks gritty. I would suggest just using a BlendTec or Vita mix if you want to make hot soups. If you don't want to use the stove at all maybe use this to start the soup and finish in a blender but seems like a hassle

I have had one years ago. They are good, fast and require very little clean-up. However, you are right. The consistency isn't great. When I wanted my soup to be smooth, I poured it into my Vitamix after cooking. Since I make soup from frozen vegetables, this was a better method than making them in the Vitamix, because the Vitamix doesn't like frozen vegetables. Nowadays, I bother with neither the soup maker or the blender. I just cook my soups in the rice cooker and they turn out great. Blending is still an option, but I don't like the extra work and clean-up required.

Own the Philips and love it. I have a swallowing issue and need things pureed. I often run the puree cycle twice and it comes out great.
