You need to go for laughs from your material...Don't show off; entertain." So well said. Profanity is a cop-out, a crutch for comics who know they're not as funny as they should be. The shock factor of trash-mouth, low-brow comedy doesn't last long before the audience sees the material can't stand on its own without the profanity, and then it begins to fall flat.
