Prime of My Life is the eighth album by American soul singer-songwriter Phyllis Hyman. It was released by Philadelphia International Records on June 11, 1991 and featured Hyman's only pop hit "Don't Wanna Change the World", which peaked at #1 on the US Billboard R&B chart and #68 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Terrific details per usual RBS; beautiful talented woman with amazing vocal abilities, and such a sad sad ending. Never knew about the tension between her and Clive, but not surprised since she was far from the only artist who didn't see eye to eye with that man. P.S.: Long live Kama Sutra/Buddah Records!

RIP Phyllis. She left us way too soon. So sad that she didn't know how much she was loved. Sorely missed by all who loved her and her music.

This track is definitely in my Phyllis Top Ten. She was such an amazing talent, with an exquisite, one of a kind gift. Tragically gone far too soon. My dear friend Cassandra McShepard was her clothing designer and stylist for the last 15 years of Phyllis' life. So the hair, make up, and outfit on that cover...are Cassandra.

Hello Michael! I released a new single - a cover to Meet Me On The Moon this month. If ever willing to listen, I would be grateful. I love Ms. Hyman and I wanted to pay homage to the beautiful Rose that turned a shade of blue (thus my artwork cover for the single.) I read about Ms. Jazz songstress Ms. McShepherd - and what a exquisite canvas Ms. Hyman presented for her to adorn her creative freedoms of style upon. Ms. McShepherd is fabulous also. The first time I heard Phyllis Hyman, she sang "Betcha By Golly Wow" on Norman Connors You Are My Starship album. But what made me a fan for life is, "You Know How To Love Me". After listening to that song, it was a done deal. I was so happy to hear that she was in the musical "Sophisticated Ladies", and getting rave reviews from the critics. Not to mention her beauty and swag. Phyllis Hyman's fashion was impeccable, and she was tall - 6'1".

Phyllis was really one of the greatest songbirds of R&B and Jazz. Hopefully you will check out more of her like “Old Friend” ,and “Betcha By Golly Wow”. This track also got me through a tough time with the illness and death of my best friend.

Hey, D I know it's been a while since I last commented on your videos. Thank you so much for doing a reaction to this timeless classic. This song will forever hold a special place in my heart because I performed it at my aunt's funeral in 2015. "Meet Me On The Moon was released on June 11,1991 and remains one of Phyllis' most popular songs. Keep up the great work, my friend.

@@EmpressReacts Yes....she was actually on the same record label as Whitney. No one knew how to market Phyllis properly as to what type of music she should sing, including Clive Davis, president of Arista. He also had the amazing Deborah Cox on his label. He was considered one of those two to be the next big thing before he chose to release Whitney's first album first. The other two kind of got lost in the mix as he poured all his attention into Whitney. It's not the first time he's done this to artists....basically forget about them.
