I want to know if this would work on elderberries or if they are too small. Picking all those little berries off is so much work!

Unfortunately that also takes a lot of green berries. We try to leave those so more grow we pick sometimes for weeks. Definitely easier but to destructive to the plants

I had done this exactly with blackberries but one thing that definitely helped me out on top of the screening process is if the leaves get too much, then use a leaf blower while on the screen. Now... it does take a little practice but if you can find the sweet angle of direct forced air the berries will not get blown away. What I did was to direct the blower in a top down angle on the lowest setting and to keep at a distance. Lastly, have someone else use their hand to move the berries about during the blowing process and voila! Hope this makes your processing more efficient. 🤗

Years ago i was stationed at a fishing camp and there were tons of blueberries. If i wasn't out working i was picking and cleaned them by laying a towel in a large Styrofoam tray that had a hole in a corner. I would tilt the tray and drop the berries at the top of the tray and tease them down the towel and they would roll to the hole and fall down into a bowl. All the leaves and twigs would get caught on the towel but the berries would roll.

You are destroying blueberry bushes and killing joy of foraging for other hikers with that comb and .. bucket!! You should be ashamed. Easy as that. And it is actually destroying the bushes guaranteed. There are any left where I am

Look into how blueberry farms pick wild blueberries on their property. They use these combs. Why would they do that if it destroyed the bushes? That is their livelihood. Think about what that plant endures all season with winter, spring, fall and animals. They are constantly stomped on and when other animals eat on them they chew the whole plant. This does not ruin the bushes. In fact I went back to the same bushes this year and they were loaded with berries. That evidence and a little bit of thought tells me this method does not destroy the bushes.

@@MontanaMidValleyFarmThose bushes get destroyed with barely no berry left. Unlike the animal that eats and defecates the seeds, people that treat wildlife as their likelihood take everything and give none back. That makes everything disappear, not just berries. We have locals here that abandoned their jobs at field and plow the mountains. No mushrooms, no berries just a bunch of idiots that ruined everything.
