Some pickup trucks have urethane side panels on the pickup bed. They are usually called "Flareside" (Flare Side) or "Stepside" (Step Side). These panels are very expensive to replace. If you can find a donor panel from another pickup truck from, say, a salvage yard, then you can save a lot of money by repairing the panel. It's easy to do, too. Just watch this video to learn how.

Big Tip.. on the inside of the pannel there should be raised letters or numbers. Stating the type of plastic the pannel is made of, this way you can look it up and choose the correct plastic filler rods to use !

@@parkerbirch1475 You can argue all you want, but repairing the panel you have is almost always cheaper than replacing it, plus you'll never have fitment issues and you don't have to wait days or weeks to get your part. Don't forget to add the $298.88 they quoted me for shipping while using your link! So your price is now. $871.18, not including paint. You can do a TON of repairs to a part and never come close to spending that much money.

Well I know how I’ll be fixing my bed hell I might just pick up another bed and fix it to have a extra. I really believe in 20 more years these trucks will be collected. And if you have a step side bed that’s going to make it more desirable.

that would be good , i could do the same repair with any two pack epoxy glue , it wouldnt stand the flex , but it would look just as nice as your repair , i work on bike fairings , and very little seems to stand any flex at all ,, thanks tom
@polyvance
@polyvance 6 жыл бұрын
The important thing to notice here is that we are using a meltable polyurethane welding rod on this urethane panel, which provides a better repair than epoxy. Do you know what your bike fairings are made out of? We have several videos on fixing various ABS street bike parts. We use our PlastiFix to do those repairs, because it works really well on ABS.

hi , ill check the plastic code letters and let you know , im using plastex at the moment , but its tough to get repairs that i can stand behind , if i cant give it a warranty , i cant charge anything , as its not a repair , its just a bluff job ... pbt+pc hope that makes sense
@polyvance
@polyvance 6 жыл бұрын
I think we are talking about two completely different animals. This video is for urethane repair, which street bike fairings are not. They are typically ABS, PC or some derivative thereof. PlastiFix works extremely well on these materials and should work well on the PBT+PC you are working with. As long as there is a gap for the PlastiFix to fill, your bond should be excellent...as good as welding or better in some cases.
