Ok, now that that's out of the way, I hope I won't get any of those questions anymore.
Wow, this run was nearly flawless! The only real mistake was in Chili Pepper Kingdom, with that tongue guy. With this, I'm most likely done with serious attempts at 100% in this game. I still have two more categories I'd like to get a good run of, though (any% Cactus King, and any% NG+), and, even after that, don't think I'm done with Jungle Beat. I'll still come back and do 100% runs, just because I love this game so much. This run is improvable, so I MIGHT eventually try to improve it, but for the moment, I'm done. I'm submitting this run to SDA, so if anyone can verify it, that would be great!
Oh, and a side note: Compared to the IL run on SDA, every single kingdom in this run is better than that, except for Pineapple (worse by 00.43 seconds), Melon (worse by 01.28 seconds), and Chili Pepper (even with that huge mess up, only worse by 02.80 seconds)
And, as a comparison to the run on SDA, the ingame time is 58:20.40. The ingame time for the SDA SEGMENTED run is 1:00:05.53. This beats that by over a minute and a half!

Everyone here is saying how this guy is such a legend, which yes he is a legend, but I’m just here wondering how a chilli pepper is a fruit, like out of all the fruits they could’ve chosen, they could’ve made a Mango kingdom, or a Kiwi kingdom, or a Lime kingdom, or a Coconut kingdom, but out of all things they choose a Chilli pepper, really Nintendo?

One of the most fun games I've had the pleasure of playing when I was younger. Def one of my top 10, and I've played a *lot* of games. Sad it was so short tho! One of the most unique ways of playing a game with the Donkey Kong Drum game controller.

I've been running this game for almost 3 years now. I can't even remember when I first started, but by now, my hands don't hurt at all. If anything, my arms get a little tired, but there's enough downtime between levels that it's not that bad.

Dude, that was incredible! Near flawless run. Lots of practice and love went into this run, I can tell. Out of curiousity, do you have a favorite level? I haven't run through all the level in a few years, but I absolutely adore the ice stages where you ride the antelope. And Monkey Fest.

It's not exactly flawless, I have a better run now, that's over a minute better! Well, my favorite level is Clock Tower (second level in Pear Kingdom), but my favorite overall Kingdom is Durian.

Thanks. I really appreciate that. To be honest, I can't be too upset about it getting cut from AGDQ. It's not a very well-known game (though IMO it should be), and I'm not a particularly well-known runner. Besides, this way, I don't feel "obligated" to practice Jungle Beat all the time now, it frees me up to play other games :P

hey man nice run how long did it take you to dp it? how many runs have you done all together?

Uh...I don't know what dp means, but, I've been running Jungle Beat for about three years by the time this run was done. Since no one else really ran the game before, I had to come up with (almost) all the strategies myself. I spent the first year and a half or so just practicing individual levels, and getting a general route down. Last fall (2012), I started with doing single segment runs, and still slowly changed my routes, but at that point it was mostly just little optimization changes. Still, you can definitely tell the difference between a run from back then and now. As for how many runs I've done...I have no idea. A ton. Although, for a while during the time when I was going for this run, almost none of them actually finished. I still do runs of this game from time to time. Even though I probably won't beat this run any time soon, I really enjoy playing the game, and that's why I started speedrunning it to begin with. So if you're interested, you should come check out my stream sometime.

That 17 Combo in the Chili Pepper Kingdom was glorious. And for the bosses, honestly, how the hell do you beat that fast? Also, whats the minimum beats for a platinum crest? 1200?

It's possible to get 18, if you land at the beginning and backflip! Yes, 1200 is the cutoff for platinum. 800 for gold, 400 for silver, and you always get bronze. As for bosses, you need to make sure to alternate mash. Make sure you're not mashing one bongo faster than the other. Other than that, just practice! :)

piepusher11 oh yea, for sure! I feel like people were so off-put by the bongo controllers. I think if Nintendo designed the game around the GameCube controller, more people would’ve gotten into it. (Although the bongos make the game so much more fun)

1. Idk. Maybe DK'S punches hit with such intensity that it heats their body 2. Maybe when they're enraged their adrenaline is pumping, therefore higher body temp. Therefore, steam

There might be two reasons I'd get more than 1200. Either for safety, or it was an accident. I'm only losing MAYBE a couple of frames by getting more than 1200, so it's not a big deal.

If I had to guess (About the 1200 thing) it probably was for safety, so that in case he fucked up a bit he'd still get the platinum. I also used to have he game then it got lost... I plan to get the Wiimote port.

I play this game A LOT. I've been speedrunning it for over 3 years now (I started in December of 2010). Want to get good at a game? Just play it a lot, and you'll get better over time.

jump at the wall, blow into the microphone, to clap on every single frame. then you have a 4 frame window to stop clapping to clip through the wall. it has to be exactly at the spot you get the edgehop from.

100% is all 72 crests, requiring 1200 points in each kingdom. If you're talking about an ingame reward, the stage select screen music changes. That's it. The reason I run 100%, though, isn't because of anything ingame, it's just because it's by far the most interesting category.

No, this is the highest quality I can upload it to KZfaq. The Gamecube only outputs in 480p anyway, so it wouldn't be much better. There is a higher quality encode of it on SDA, that plays at 60FPS, though.

I can't stand the Wii version at all, half of the time I'm shaking the controllers like a damn moron and I end up not getting as many points as I expected. To be honest I just like this game because of the music, same composer for Mario Galaxy (3D Land and World) Well then again, this is the same development team that made Mario Galaxy anyways

***** Actually, the story is that The Kingdoms have been overrun by evil kings. DK is trying to save all the Kingdoms by defeating their King and saving all the lands. That's why the little monkeys support him so much. He doesn't necessarily "Want" to be King as much as it being necessary to provide sanctuary for the monkeys and teach the former kings the error of thier ways.
