Thing is, she could have taken the French approach and said that strategic ambiguity was important and that she intentionally wouldn't answer that question as a geopolitical move. For any halfway competent politician, they could have weaseled their way out of saying yes or no, but she fumbled in a way that make bilateralist anti-nuclear voters uneasy about her not just saying no, and trident supporters sure that she means she wouldn't. I don't think I could have messed up this badly politically if i tried.

That poor, poor woman. I feel so sorry for her. It must have been dreadful to have gone through this. Shame on ITV for allowing it. I refer, of course, to Susannah ?. Sat between two people who don’t know the meaning of the word competence. Who will lie and deceive without conscience if it suits their aims. They know not shame nor have morals. It is a strength of democracy that these two people were allowed TV time together. It is the weakness of democracy that either of them has power or influence. Lest anyone think that this comment has a party political aim, I would feel equally disgusted if it were Boris Johnson or one of many others.
