Thanks guys, I prob get about 4 hours of footage on a long weekend and out of that I have approx 2 hours of action. I can generally get about 4 or 5 clips around 10 to 15 minutes long to post up. We only go out approx 3 times a year so this is why I try and space out the clips. Not to mention forgetting to turn on the camera when the action starts but I am better at videoing than Steve as he always forgets to turn on his camera or he forgets that it is on and he has 3 hours of nothing, Ha. The adler gets to come along each time when I have a quad to myself so hopefully next trip I will have more of the shotty laying them out.

@@HuntingwithStu we hunt pigs on foot. I haven't had time to edit them. Actually Question, do you head mount or shoulder mount the cam?
@HuntingwithStu4 жыл бұрын
Good stuff mate I also prefer hunting on foot but Steve brings all the big toys (quads) for us, ha. Yes I use a sony action cam and with me being a left handed shooter it sits on the right side of my head on a head band giving that first person shooter angle.
@francoisbrun58824 жыл бұрын
@@HuntingwithStu nice. Yeah I don't like the headband but I do it. We used to use the motorbike and I would helmet mount. I tried shoulder and it's no good. Thinking maybe chest/body cam but might cut out the angle.

Here's a business idea for you Stu. I have always been impressed with the number of feral pigs that Australia has. I reckon this is a combination of ideal habitat, ample food, vast expanses of land, and low pressure from hunters. Here's my idea: Partner with some land owner and actually encourage the pigs to multiply. Put out food for them. Keep other hunters out for a year or two and just let the buggers explode in population. Technically 4 pigs (2 male/2 female) having 16 offspring apiece every 6 months can become about 300 pigs in 1 year. So you partner with some landowner who has about a million acres of land and is having trouble growing sorghum or whatever. You let the pigs breed naturally until they are just running over the place like mice. Don't tell others you're encouraging the pigs to multiply but just let nature take its course. Then you offer guided wild pig hunts to people (all accommodations included) and promote the business with your KZfaq channel. Have so many pigs running across the place that every hunter who comes there is experiencing shooting action unlike anything they've ever experienced before with a big game animal. Soon people are going back to Kansas or Melbourne or London and talking about a "pig behind every tree." To add to the experience you make videos of their hunts to give them as a memento of their vacation Down Under. Some of the clips could be put on KZfaq if they're especially exciting. Make the entire experience one in which all the client has to do is make it to Sydney. You even pick them up from the airpot. I mean ALL accommodations are covered by your end. They just have to get to Australia. You can schedule multiple trips at one time. You aren't promising to go out and hold their hands everyday. Greet them, hunt with them the first half day, and then leave someone else to act as guide as you meet another group. At night sit around with them and tell stories and recount the days adventures like you and Steve do around the fire. You could probably realistically handle 50 hunters a month fairly easily and many more if you had enough land available and helpers. If each hunter is paying several thousand dollars and your only expense is ammunition, licensing, meals, and a bed in a hut somewhere the potential for a business to be successful is almost assured. The landowner will need to get a gig cut but they do zero work so you should find a willing partner.. There would have to be a solid contract drawn up and signed releasing you and the property owner from any liability but that's 3 hours in a lawyers office and is fully binding unless you really screw up and shoot someone or crash into them with an ATV and are responsible by negligence. That won't happen because a mishap like that won't ever be allowed to occur. I taught flying lessons for years and there were about a thousand things that could go wrong BUT if the student made it back alive after every lesson you were virtually assured of never having a problem. There was some risk of course but it was manageable. Then you hire me to come help as a guide and I shoot up all the pigs in the first year and everything collapses......Just an idea. 😊
@HuntingwithStu4 жыл бұрын
Good idea mate but there is an old saying not to turn you pleasure into work as it soon becomes work and not pleasure. I'm happy the way things are mate. However, I do like the last part where you come over and we show you a good time hunting from a kayak that I can lend you. I would show you a map but you cant get lost as the billabong is approx 5km long and not very wide so all you have to do it take a packed luch and a few refreshments and spend a day slaying big boars on the bank.
@CanoeingTheEdgeOfTheWorld4 жыл бұрын
@@HuntingwithStu Thanks Stu and I'll definitely come over for a hunt sometime when things return to normal. Went to W.A. is 1985 and Sydney in 1987 while in the military. Time to return! And the offer will always stand for you coming here to Florida but as mentioned you'll not encounter game like in your neck of the woods. We have wild pigs but it's tough going sometimes. Still, there's a lot to do in Florida besides pig hunting so I guarantee you'd have fun. Turning your hobby into a job would certainly take some of the fun out of it and if you are happy I'd say keep everything as is. We only have so many years before the long dirt nap and it's important to do what we like rather than always thinking about money. One other idea I had that I forgot to mention was using a drone. The terrain you're in would work well for aerial reconnaissance and make some exciting clips. Also congratulations on your explosion in subscribers. Holly Cow! Over 106,000....can I get an autographed picture of us together when I come over? You're getting famous.
@HuntingwithStu4 жыл бұрын
@@CanoeingTheEdgeOfTheWorld No worries mate that sounds like a plan. Yes a drone would be good. There is another channel called Boaring Australia and their latest clip has some classic drone footage.

Phenomenal hunting Stu! I wanna do a Hog hunt in Australia with the wife (She's from Australia) some time later on this year. Ironically, we'll be going on a Hog Hunt in US State of Kentucky in about a Month. We'll be using 3 different Firearms; A 12 Guage Mossberg 590A1, a Winchester 1892 Lever Action in .357 Magnum, and my Pop-Pop's (My maternal-side Grandfather's) M1903A3 Springfield that he brought back with him from World War 2, in .30-06 of course (like your Ruger). Hopefully I'll be bringing that M1903A3 "Down Under" later this year. 👍

@HuntingwithStu6 жыл бұрын
Not sure what the spray bottle on Steves bike is for mate. I think it is empty so it must be for when he is using the quad at home and not hunting. I take the 30/06 and the shotty with a couple of litres of water mate. I normally take approx 30 rounds of 30/06 and about the same in shotty shells. We are out early morning for approx 4 to 5 hrs then again for 4 to 5 hrs in the arvo. Nothing to eat as we don't stop unless we are counting downed pigs.

So what is the reason you use a rifle in I'm guessing 30-06 verses a 12 gauge?
@HuntingwithStu6 жыл бұрын
The rifle is used for most of the shots in the open especially if it is a bit rough going or we hit a fence. The shotty is also good off the quad especially sitting on with Steve but it is best walking through the thick stuff which is too close in for the scoped rifle.

also, any updates on your hand loads for your 30?

I did actually start with loading up my 30/06 a few clips ago mate

Hunting with Stu i can imagine ya 06 barrell gets bloody hot when shooting as regularly as you do! and id imagine you would be one of a few hunters to ever wear a barrel out from the sheer volume of hunting you do. splendid. when ever 3006 retires it will have some stories to tell haha
@iamtheomega6 жыл бұрын
not really.....and they'll go 10,000 rounds at least.....a lifetime
@HuntingwithStu6 жыл бұрын
The barrel doesn't get very hot mate and I don't reckon I could shoot out this barrel as you would need to do a lot more shooting than what I put through the old girl.
@justsomeguy75405 жыл бұрын
you're a great shot stu',' what bullet do you use in you're 30-06?
@HuntingwithStu5 жыл бұрын
Thanks mate. I prefer a 150grn well constructed bullet like the Sierra Game King.

Stu where can we see Steve`s videos?, and DID i see you miss 2 pigs? you are human lol, great vid mate
@HuntingwithStu6 жыл бұрын
Steve doesn't have a channel yet mate and yes I do miss the odd pig, however, there was a pig in this clip where the shots went straight through him twice and looked like I missed but he just didn't know that he was dead on his feet.
@robincoker2256 жыл бұрын

I’ve noticed in all of your vids that down in Australia the pigs don’t run as fast as the ones that we have here in Texas. Am I the only one who has noticed this?
@HuntingwithStu5 жыл бұрын
Not sure mate. They do run fast but we like to keep a little distance so that makes them less likely to speed off.
