Excellent content Puggy! This center must be quite new as I never heard of Pek Kio when I was in Singapore. Your new burn-in caption looks good, easier to read. These are all my favorites. "Lai" Cheong Fun is an art and they both make it look so effortless. Smooth, soft, made to order, fresh and delicious. If I were there, I would order at least 3 packets just for me, ha! ha! No stress chai tau kway, taking his time to cook it well. He has bigger chunks too. Lot of work to julienne those big white chinese turnip or Daikon, and then mixed it with rice flour to make the chai tau kway. Hokkien Mee hawker also cooks in smaller batches, very patient. I often wonder, how can you afford to sell prawn mee for only $2.50? If I have to write up a business plan, it will all be in red, they must not account for their own labor and prep. work/time as their margin must be very small. Hard life making a living as a hawker, plus their rent certainly is not cheap right? I tip my hat to all of them. Regarding dialects, to me, what is unique about Singapore is the culture, the food, plus the different dialects. I learn Mandarin as a second language in school but I often speak Hokkien, sometimes Cantonese, when I buy food from the hawkers. To me, it is fun, you feel like one of them. A lot of the hawker centers are either new or renovated as they all certainly look much better compared to those days when I was in Singapore. Thanks for featuring these nice hawker centers. Looking forward to more food adventures...👍😁
Your commentary is excellent, wonderful story telling. Are you only a hobbyist ? Your videos one day will be helping archive this dying trade.

wah.. not alot of place have freshly made chee cheong fun. usually I'll fix my craving for freshly made chee cheong fun in JB. And technically you're not wrong, it's very profitable to open a drinks stall in hawker centre, but the difficult part is to tender a place for drinks stall. Because every hawker centres have at least 1 drinks stalls already so not easy to tender a spot for it.
@Piggypuggy3 жыл бұрын
Their CCF nice leh 👍🏼 especially when freshly made.. only thing is this place like rather ulu near kk hospital. As for drink stalls.. I really feel that some are wasting it.. make mediocre Kopi and sit there swatting flies.. some are v rather innovative now.. even got bubble tea 🧋 and fancy drinks

@@Piggypuggy damm, though abit far to travel to pek kio hawker but 1 of these days shall go and try it out.
