Today's session is for a gentle 15 Minute Pilates routine for Rheumatoid Arthritis. This is for pain relief, relief from stiff joints and a lovely therapeutic movement session to help you feel calm, in control and at ease with your body. Gentle Pilates movement is a wonderful calm way to relieve the tension that comes from living with this condition. Lots of deep breathing to relieve stress and lots of soothing, gentle movements to ease the body.

Although I don’t have RA, I do have osteoarthritis in my hands, knees and hips. So this was a great gentle stretching. Enjoyed doing after watching my online church service. Perfect Sunday morning. 👍

Watching this through first. In a flare atm and knees are giving me problems. I have a comfy mat and going to try this soon. Just hope I can get down and up from the floor. 😬😁

I know this was many months ago, though thought I’d reply for others in the same boat. Do it in bed! When I’m in a flare, getting out of bed is the most difficult part of the day. (Well, that’s every day but especially in a flare) Do this to help you get out of bed. It warms everything up & gets you moving.

Great video Rachel even for osteoarthritis which i have. I’ve been doing your hand & foot rotations from a video ‘ages ago ‘ on a regular basis & always when watching TV & getting up in the morning. Really helps loosen up the stiffness 🥰

Wow, never thought I'd see this kind of Pilates. I'm a bit of a particular case: I don't have yet RA, but I've never been able to do most of the classic functional movements in my life, aside walking & using stairs. Nearly every physical exercise is impossible for me to do. Pushups? Can't even do them on a wall. Squats? My knees hate that; always must bend down my back despite the harsh aching. Hip bridges? That's where my most crucial worry is. I've never learned to activate my core muscles, even though I'm a semi pro horn player (we use a certain type of breathing which involves the diaphragm, so technically that's part of the "core"); every time I try to do that exercise, I've been told to "engage your core", & so I do that but the entire belly locks itself along the core, even my lungs stop working, & I can't even lift my buttocks a couple of millimeters from the ground. I'm seriously thinking of entering a Functional Rehab Center in order to fully re-educate my muscles how to do those functional moves that I never did for so long; otherwise only a bedridden life awaits me...

I haven't got RA but have had a lot of joint pain (mainly hip/thigh)which has slowed me down a bit recently. I'm getting there now and had a feeling this would be good for me. It definitely was. Thanks Rachel!

Thank you for this, I altered it using dumb bells for handle grips as bending RA wrists at a right angle on the floor and applying weight was too painful.

That was absolutely lovely. I don’t have RA, but I’m a few weeks behind on your sessions, had some scary post-Covid (leftover Covid?) illness mid-May - horrific headaches, sent me to doctor! I was checked out, no obvious answers, but have been taking it easy (and doing a bit of gardening). Still trying to ease back into Pilates, so this was ideal! Love the new videos posted today, gorgeous set and bright yellow gear, beginning, intermediate and advanced choices, wow! I look forward to trying them out. I was diagnosted with artrose, in french, in hips knees schoulders and back on L 1 23 and 4 last year thus time. Taking supplements but my right hip is very aprouving now with your daily workouts

😀This was a much better workout for me while in full flare at the moment still trying to reach remission and trying different things. Thank you. Do you have any more targeted exercises for stiff neck and shoulders? Much appreciated.

So glad it helped you feel better whilst in full flare. I think finding a balnce between exercvise and rest is one of the most difficult things with RA. Have you tried looking at diet? Here's a suggestion from the NRAS nras.org.uk/resource/diet/ They suggest a mediterranean diet and I am also aware for some people that gluten can exacerbate the symptoms so it might be worth trying a gluten free diet for a month and see if you notice a difference. For shoulders and neck try this session, it's relaxing yet very freeing for the tension we can all carry in those areas: kzfaq.info4t389cUATaE 🤗

Thank you Rachel. I do struggles with RA and on days when I have difficulty get moving, this Video is great for me. I do workout with your other videos for beginners and seniors, they are difficult, but a bit more gentle for me. I do have damage in my shoulders from the RA which gives me limited shoulder movements, would appreciate very much alternative shoulder movements. Thanks

Thank you for not doing anything on your hands. My wrists and hands tend to be my worst areas, which ia why I don't like putting weight on then.

Generally, clicking and popping noises are nothing to worry about unless they are accompanied by pain. Most times it’s a sign of tension releasing from joints and ligaments 🤗
