I have been saving for the IATPL program at Brampton. Currently I am finishing up my PPL with the school and it's been super slow because of weather and the club not having enough airplanes. I want to make the piloting happen however its just making sure the school has enough airplanes and instructors to ensure all pilots graduate within 12 months. Again the video was super informative and thanks again.

Glad it helped! That’s definitely something to consider, is why wait for the program when you can train modular right away and be finished in 12-18 months at another school that’s less busy.

Thanks for the wonderful video my friend! Both pathways honestly depends on the students situation in my opinion! But from my experience in Canada the main obstacles are weather that really cancels most of the flights and time keeps extending. Also most of the schools don’t have enough aircrafts. So making a booking when the weather is good which is a rarity in Canada and instructors availability is virtually impossible! If I could start all over again I would honestly get my pilot training in Florida or Texas where we can fly often. Thanks again.

Nishant Desai, EXACTLY!! Although a lot of schools in Canada will trick you by saying that they are less expensive to train than the United States, this is *PATENTLY FALSE.* Canada is a sort of a socialist country with huge monopolies everywhere. In Canada, there is very little competition, and the government creates huge barriers for anyone wanting to start things like flight schools, for example. This results in these schools, being able to charge you whatever they want. Second, there are all kinds of taxes in Canada HST, GST. If they could, they would even tax the air that you breathe!! This also dramatically increases the cost!! How do I know all of this?? I am actually going through this experience right now!! Luckily for me, I just moved to Canada (for other reasons), and already got my PPL in Northern California (where I'm from). I was also lucky to find a great flying club, well outside the San Francisco bay area, and it was extremely cheap (both the instructor rates and the airplane rentals). I was able to do a lot of cross country hours (I now have around 270+ hours, even completed my 300NM commercial xcountry), and am about to do my instrument checkride, at the same school. If I would have done all of this in Canada, it would have easily cost me 25% to 30% MORE, even at the least expensive schools there!!!! (note that there is not much difference in cost *_between schools,_* in Canada, like there is in the US, because of the lack of competition). In the US, there may be one school that charges an arm and a leg, and another one that's really inexpensive (depending on location etc.). If you do your research really well, you can get an extremely good deal, as I got!! Now, unfortunately, since I'm in the process of moving to Canada at this time, I have to get my CPL and CFI in Canada, but since I have all of my hours built up, 80% of the process (and the associated cost) is done with. So what's left is about 12K - 14K $CAD more of training! (would have cost around $7K - 9K USD if I had done it at my original school in California). That's just a couple thousand more. If I had done all my training and hour building in Canada, it would have easily cost me around an extra $10K or more USD!!!

747-Pilot, thanks a lot for your valuable information and sharing your experience! I agree with you and from my own experience I see that I end up spending a lot more as classes become counterproductive at times due to the huge gaps between the flight lessons. I’m contemplating going to the USA for the reminder of my flight training if this weather persists. Thanks again my friend:)

Very nice video... How to make hours after getting your CPL ? You are allowed to fly but airlines won’t employ pilots with less than 1500 hours. What is your advise on how to deal with that. Between getting the CPL (approx 200 hours) and working for an airline ?? Another questions: are you allowed to work as co-pilot for a privatjet company with a CPL and 200-250 hours ? I assume it depends on the number of passengers !!

I think modular is better, you have a more diverse understanding and more experience over more aircraft and you take possibly years of experience to earn it. Integrated feels like your in a hurry to become a first officer behind the controls of an airliner and integrated is more expensive I believe while modular is cheaper and paid on the go which means you can stop at any time. I am aware in some airlines you can join an integrated course for free but you need to have some serious maths and physics knowledge, that or you must come from a very experienced ex pilot/*insert aviation job close to a pilot* Again this is my personal opinion but modular, yes takes longer but is more viable for the working class or those who don't have money or good grades like myself

Aviator inspirations how long do you think the pilot shortage will continue? I don’t know whether to go to post secondary or straight to flight school
@AviatorInspirations
@AviatorInspirations 5 жыл бұрын
That’s the million dollar question, I’m sure the companies would also like to know! My prediction is no more than 3-5yrs if there is a big marketing push, or if there is another recession it could stop overnight if airlines stop hiring or even have to lay off. When I was starting 15yrs ago it was good, then 9/11 happened and the 2008 recession, and I couldn’t get a job with 2200hrs & ATPL. Now pilots are getting onto a Q with 750hrs. My lesson in the aviation industry is to take advantage of the opportunities, because when the going gets tough, it’s going to be really tough! But that’s my opinion only, and you should follow your life goals and ambitions. If post secondary is import to you, and I think it’s a good idea, then definitely pursue it👍🏻

When you do modular, do you pay while you have a normal job. So could I for example be a flight steward and do modular and pay with air steward salary every month for so many years? Then leave the job when I have fully payed the 60k?
@AviatorInspirations
@AviatorInspirations 5 жыл бұрын
Yup 👍🏻 That’s what most people do. Work to pay for flight training and fly as much as you can. I would recommend saving in chunks, like save $12k to do your PPL, then save another chunk for the CPL etc, otherwise if you only fly once a week your progress will be very slow. Also consider taking a low interest loan towards the end so you can finish quicker and get your first flying job.

Hello, I am currently working as a licensed aircraft technician with AME license issued by transport Canada in one of the major airlines in Canada. I have couple endorsement courses from type of aircrafts I am working on. So my Question is that Do you think there is any advantage becoming a pilot with maintenance background? After getting CPL, do airlines would hire me as F/O because of maintenance background even though I short flight hours or it doesn't matter?
@AviatorInspirations
@AviatorInspirations 4 жыл бұрын
Few know this but I have my AME diploma (not licenses tho) as my post secondary. It helped me in the lower levels as a flight instructor and charter pilot, where I would make extra money wrenching during inspections at the AMO. It also helped knowing more about the airplane, so for smaller companies that skill was an asset. At the airlines and bigger companies this had zero bearing. You are hired as a pilot and that’s all you are trained to do. Our elementary training is a joke at how limited we are in that regard, as I’m sure you know. So the answer to your question, you will be a huge asset to small companies if you are a pilot & AME in one. At large companies your diploma will simply satisfy a check box during your application. What you use to ask yourself is how far up the pilot ladder you want to climb (check out my pilot pay video if you haven’t already).

@AviatorInspirations
@AviatorInspirations 5 жыл бұрын
Yes if you just want a piece of paper that says “post secondary” and kill 2 birds with one stone, but no in every other aspect. It’s a useless diploma with which you cannot do anything in the real world with. I would much more advise people to get a real diploma in business then an aviation diploma. My post secondary is in aircraft maintenance from BCIT, a useful skill that has helped me a lot in my career. Personally I dislike spending money on something that’s worth nothing, like an aviation diploma. But again just my opinion, there are definitely sound reasons to take it.

Oh awesome! I have the same diploma 😀 and yes it will most definitely help you get the first job. Small companies love when they can use you for both, although sometimes they will make you wrench more than fly as it’s a more desirable skill, but still. In terms of the career, it will only help to show you have post secondary when you later apply for the airlines, and that’s about it. It won’t help you be a better pilot or anything like that, as later down the road having technical experience doesn’t translate in operating the aircraft as pilot skills and decision making skills are different. It will help with system knowledge when learning a new airplane, but pilots are trained to action the correct checklist and not diagnose the problem as you do on the maintenance side.

No, a recreational pilot permit is for hobbyists, if you want to fly as a career you can get your PPL at 16, and start training as early as 14. If you start early there is no reason to do the integrated program, because you can finish your training before 18 anyway if you start early enough. Thanks for a nice video. I'm Korean and I'd like to fly in the sky and want to become an airline pilot. But I have some worries about English. I always try to improve my english skill everyday. And I know writing and listening and speaking english are not the same things. What I'm truly worry about is if I could become a flight instructor in Canada. I think english skill required for getting lisence and english skill required for being a flight instructor are different. (By the way I have a plan to get PR during my flight instructor career) Of course my english skill can be improved until I get instructor rating, but it's true that I'm worried about it. So what I want to know is generally could an international student get their job as a flight instructor in Canada?? Is that a rare case or is it often happening?? Check out my pilot pay video, it will help explain the ladder pilots have to climb in North America. But basically you won’t get into air canada until you have thousands of hours, and either a work visa or permanent residence in Canada. Good luck in your training👍🏻

@@AviatorInspirations I've completed I-ATPL training in BC, now has 6000+hrs in part 121/135(mostly built abroad), and now applying for instructor rating, planning to fly as CFI for a living . is that possible that i can fly at ur right seat?
@AviatorInspirations
@AviatorInspirations 5 жыл бұрын
If your hours are recognized in Canada then yes, you should be able to get a job at a regional quite quickly! If not, then just build a 1000hrs as a CFI and then apply👍🏻

To get a job in Canada you will need a work visa, unless the flight school has a program where they sponsor you to get a job.

My flight school does provides pgwp (post graduate work permit) an open work permit after completion of cpl ! So then would i get a chance to work ? But sir only to the length of my studies in canada like as i have chosen one year program so i'll only get work permit for one year !

No limit, as long as it’s correctable to 20/20 you’re good to go. Of course if you have any doubts, getting your cat1 medical would be wise👍🏻

If you are an international student, check out my international pilot training video 👍🏻 but yes, as part of your student visa application you have to show that you have all the funds to finish all your training.

To get a student visa you need to be enrolled in a designated program, and modular training doesn’t count.

@@AviatorInspirations But I have called up some flight schools and it seems that there are international students enrolled in the modular program. Now, I presume these students have been granted the study visa. By designated program, can I add modular flight packages offered by some schools? Harv air offers this instructor package which contains PPL, CPL, Multi IFR, and CFI for 60 grand. Is this considered as a designated program?
