Faye suffered from a pinched nerve in her lower back. After shots, medication and physical therapy gave only temporary relief from the pain caused by a pinched nerve in her lower back; Faye started looking for a permanent fix. After a recommendation from a friend who also suffered from a pinched nerve in her lower back, she opted for spine surgery at the Bonati Spine Institute.
A pinched nerve is a medical term used to describe the compression of a single nerve or group of nerves. Pressure is applied to the nerve by surrounding bones, tissue, cartilage, or muscle, the nerve(s) will become impinged (pinched), which disrupts nerve function and can lead to chronic or acute pain, weakness, numbness and tingling.
Though pinched nerves in the lower back are most common but can occur anyway throughout the body. The nerves in the spinal cord travel through the foramina, small openings between the vertebrae through which spinal nerve roots exit to other parts of the body. These small openings can become obstructed and pinch the nerves. Often spine surgery is required to decompress a pinched nerve in the lower back to end the pain.
