I'm fairly sure they were just trying to figure out to get it to release more DMT. The pineal gland releases DMT, but in strategic and limited quantities. Hypothetically, if you could change the production of DMT you could enter this hallucinogenic state of consciousness. Trust me I know, not only because I've done the research, but I've actually tested these theories myself. 😊
