"Roger would literally write a song about anything he saw. Doorknobs, lettuce, the Pope, you name it. He'd bring all these demos in. That high pitched sound that starts at 4:12 is actually the sound you get when you plug in a wah wah pedal backwards. Gilmour discovered that effect and used it quite a bit during this time period. You can also hear that in Echoes. It almost sounds like a whale or some underwater sound. Thought I'd share that random fun fact.

I think they didn't avoid kategorically weed or hash, but they did so concerning the hard drugs like booze, cocaine and heroin. I guess also some acid might have been popped, but not in a spirit ruining extreme way, like daily /more than one at a time. But of course I'm just guessing. Plus: this is one band, but it consists of different individuals. So perhaps I'm wrong in the one or the other direction, for the one or the other person and period of time !!

Gilmour smirks at the funny sound effects at 3:37 but it all pays off when Roger starts playing that groovy ass bassline from Embryo, at that moment the Floyd suddenly emerge in all their awesomeness. This stuff is pure magic. In my dreams, Roger today gets back with Dave and Nick to reform as a trio and jam out another psychedelic album of stuff like this. In my dreams. My dreams. Dreams. The Pink Floyd is the stuff of dreams.

I don't think there was much harboured bitterness remaining from Dave by that stage and two or three of them have appeared good naturedly on stage together a couple of times since. I think Gilmour has simply moved on and collectively they have all moved on from the kind of stuff in this video. I remember Genesis about 10+ years ago discussed having a reunion of their "classic" line-up, but there was no real interest in it so they ended up reuniting in their later format.

😂😂
@dumpygoodness40865 жыл бұрын
@@RCAvhstape Actually, what Nick and Rick are doing is NOT prepared piano. They just have nick using a GUITAR PICK on the strings inside the piano, while rick plays different things. "Prepared piano" is when they put stuff ON or IN the strings, to make it sound weird. EX: clothespins on the strings at harmonic locations . Even putting a bunch of empty beer bottles upon the piano's large bed of strings would be Prepared Piano.
@babboon57645 жыл бұрын
@@dumpygoodness4086 I wasn't aware of that. But I can see it would have the bonus you'd have to *empty* the beer bottles first. (I may never have done the piano thing, but trust me - It would *definitely* work better with freshly emptied bottles).

I remember listening to this a decade ago back in high school and I was really into old-school Pink Floyd. It took me forever to find it because I forgot the name. I love it starting at 4:00 cause it gives off those creepy late 60s, early 70s Roger Waters vibes (which I guess makes sense because it was literally done in 1970), I know this may sound weird because of course compared to other Pink Floyd songs this has no views, but I can't believe half a million people have watched this.
