a few months ago, i got really into pink floyd. ive been listening to them practically non stop since, learning a lot about their history as a band. i just recently found out my dad used to be a huge pink floyd fan as well, and when he learned i liked them, i could tell how excited about it he was. he’s been telling me so many facts about the band i never knew, and i can tell how happy he is doing it. i really owe it to this band that ive made such a fantastic connection with my dad.

Beautiful story ad! Quite some years back I heard my son of early teens blaring Twisted Sister (or Bent Brother, not sure) from his bedroom through his new stereo (that's what we used to call them). I heard myself say, "What the hell is that noise? You can't even understand a word they're saying! I had a sudden flash that my father had said the same thing, and immediately realized that I had to do something. I grabbed "Dark Side of the Moon", headed down the hall and opened his door and said, "here, put this on!" He did. It was incredibly heart warming to realize that he fell in love with it. Yes, Pink Floyd has done wonderful things for this world...

Growing up my dad always played The Wall. I could not stand it as a kid. The babies crying, loud ship and crash sounds, but as I got older the band became one of my favourites. We got to see Roger Water's The Wall in 2010 in Toronto together, a night i'll never forget. I lost my dad in 2012 but he's always around when Pink is playing.

I'm glad it was in "The Wall" double Pink Floyd album. There aren't any tracks in "The Wall" I don't like any less. Granted Dark Side of The Moon and Wish You Were Here were great melodic tunes (known for mellow soft rock's greatest) I do love the way Pink Floyd turned up the volume with "Animals" and "The Wall" for those tracks deserving of their own for how to approach Hard Rock in the youth culture of the late 1970s taking in many other music artists having songs inspiring also.

My favorite band of all time! I was at the wall concerts in Long Island and saw 4 out of 5 nights where i moved closer and closer to the stage ending up on the floor 11th row. When the wall came tumbling down and they all stood out in front David Gilmour looked into my eyes and said I love you!!! Yes there was some short of trip going on :) but he looked into my eyes and I was so in love wit him ! He is my favorite guitarist as well. His guitar just sings!! First night my brother and friends drove from Florida and made it in 18 hours!!! Then we got in with fake tickets!! Those were the days for music. Nothin comes close to this today and music prices were so affordable. Pink Floyd is still my favorite all time band and always will be

All music is real music. Stop invoking your own version of the true Scotsman fallacy. And newer generations won't get into Pink Floyd for the sake reasons you didn't get into 1600s church music. You didn't grow up with it. You think pink Floyd is true music and for generations to come because that's how you feel. But if we could ask someone from the past they would miss the music they grew up with the same way you'll miss Pink Floyd.

You chose to fight pointless wars for hawkish polticians. No one forced you. I hate when people act like they are so devastated after returning from a war that they signed up for fighting in the first place. That's like putting my hand in the meat grinder and then expecting people to feel sorry for me. Smh. If more people were like me wars wouldn't exist. I'll never thank any veteran for their service because doing so means I have to accept the premise of whatever war they fought in and the premises for all th US wars are of corporate nature. No thank you. I shake my head and think "how stupid ppl are to throw their lives away for a hawkish government". I was smarter than that. Fuck ears and fuck the military in every country. Mesmerizing!!! One of the greatest band of all times. Their music was not made only for 70’s or 80’s. Their music and lyrics are so advanced that their music will be listened for generations to come.

There's a brilliant version of Comfortably Numb that Waters and Company played at the Berlin Wall when it was brought down. Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell, and Levon Helm join in, but it's Van The Man who stirs the soul like no other. There's a DVD of the whole show, but I think this particular number may be on KZfaq. Check it out.

Back in the 1970s, Mum bought a vinyl album: "The Dark Side of the Moon." I don't know why; she wasn't into that. I practically owned it! 😊 My Favourites: "Shine on you crazy Diamond" & "Pigs: 3 Different Ones."

Look at the sheer determination of all four guys in the last solo. They are all deep in the ”Zone”. Richard is almost hurting his back with his passionate moves behind the keyboards. Roger is clenching his jaws and playing the life out of that bass. David has got the ”thousand-yard-stare”,and has merged with the music, way out in space or other dimensions. Nick throws his headphones and later shows a awesome ”fighting-face” , shredding the skin of those poor drums. YEAH , they know it is the last time. ”I’m gonna go with a bang , dudes”.

The Final goodbye of the Floyd, the greatest most touching band. A great friend of mine and my dad is currently 89 and suffering from dementia and he is one of my inspirations. He loves the Floyd and said he must have owned and worn out about three wish you were here albums. When my dad and I put on pink Floyd shine on you crazy diamond for him you could just see his eyes light up as all the memories that came with the music came back, and his love for floyd. This is why I love the Floyd, because they touch you deeply and can bring memories and magic to life. Thank you

Music does reach through dementia and connect us to our loved ones. One time in her nursing home, I sung a line to my mother who had severe dementia..."I'm an old cowhand, on the Rio Grande..." She pulled herself upright in her wheelchair and proudly shouted out the next line, "and my legs ain't bowed, and my cheeks ain't tanned." Lordy I didn't even remember that, but someone who never spoke awakened to herself and her memories, if even for only a few minutes. Bless you and your love for your dad.

The last solo on comfortably numb is magically epic on this session, because all band members are giving it their all funneling their long history of musical exploration in this one moment of time. They know that this is the last song, and the last time they may ever play together again. They needed to play out that perfect musical dynamic they have and will always have together, one last time.

My favorite part is at 21:41 where you can see they move and lean together during that melodic drop in the solo. There's a reason why they all were in a band together.
