Sorry but i had to pause some rather then usually playing the whole song due to recent copyright issues blocking my last couple videos . I won't turn into a pause heavy reactor , but I'll have to make changes . Hope you enjoyed the video .

"Who is David Bowie" is a question with a lot of different answers. He spent his career cycling through different looks, personalities, musical styles. Quirky folk singer, glamorous rock'n'roll space alien, suited-and-booted soul boy, sinister coke-fueled experimental artist, tanned blond dance pop star.. He was unarguably extremely white, though. Palest dude on the planet.

This song was his first No. 1 in the USA back in 1975! Hear the songs Changes and China Girl. Also - Space Oddity was his first Top 40 hit in the USA in 1973.

You don't know who David Bowie is??????? He was only one of the greatest, most innovative and most influential music artists of all time! His influence went way beyond music. Virtually everyone, who is anyone, in the music industry respects Bowie. He had hit singles and albums, from the late 60s, right up until his death a few years ago. His death was headline news the world over. One of the true greats and an artist in the truest sense of the word. :)

I'm just surprised you hadn't heard of him. Especially as his death, less than 3 years ago, was such a huge news story. Both in the mainstream media and online. Even World leaders paid public tribute, including Obama. There were also major memorial tributes staged at the Grammys and the Brits.

James Brown liked this song so much he "rewrote it" - as Hot! - and found himself on the end of a royalty suit. Ok - not knowing who Bowie is - that's a bit like not having heard of the Beatles (or Igor Stravinsky or Charles Mingus or....whatever) I always include recommendations in these comments, and I always go for the serious stuff - so here's some soulful Bowie kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bqt0eLml2J6tp2w.html - and here's some hardcore Bowie kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f9x6oalmr7iocac.html

Yes, Bowie is white. He experimented with many different genres of music to remake his image. Look up some pics from his 70's Ziggy Stardust style. His last album was Blackstar which came out only a few weeks before he died. He knew it was coming which shows in the song Lazarus kzfaq.info/get/bejne/r5N6pKtispq9kWw.html

Shit, I knew who the all-time greats were by the time I was 11 or 12. It's not about age, it's about being willing to get out of your little bubble and check out everything that's out there. Not just what the radio and internet force feeds you. Keep finding out new stuff. You are pretty late, but better late than never.

I'm getting fed up with the low level racism with things like white people having 'soul' or emotion in their music. Such comments are, unintentionally I'm sure, ignorant and display a lack of knowledge of the wider world of music. There have always been plenty of white artists with 'soul' or emotion. Sometimes expressed in the narrow genre definition of 'soul', more often expressed in a whole variety of styles. Similarly there have been plenty of black artists lacking in this characteristic. Soul and R&B are not exclusively black. Rock and classical are not exclusively white. The more we try to claim specific genres as being exclusively 'white music' or 'black music' the more we cheapen ourselves and the more divided we become. There's just 'music'.

What is this bizarre idea that only black artists can express deep emotion in music?

elvis had soul shoot Eminem has it but for this song he sounded like he could be black . Not saying white artists can't have soul , but to me he sounded black . Beetles Korn I mean lots of whites have deep emotion that I know of but I mean idk lol I thought he might be black with the voice and how it sounded .
