Piper Brake Blow Out: The WHY + Clean, Inspect & Repair

After landing, I lost 100% of my right brake. See what I found and how I fixed it. Who knows how long this was like this.
Apparently the previous owner didn't use the brakes to their fullest like I do landing at my short runway.
Here's my complete process of the brake job and findings. I decided to install new brake rotors, liners/pads as well. I enjoy aircraft maintenance and I hope you enjoy the close ups.

Joshua, having replaced roters and pads on big-rigs this is great! I need to get a job at an airport. I didn't like the background noise "music?" but the video is top notch.

Every airport and company and individual needs airplane mechanics (get your A&P rating). *good point on the music, i made that mistake so many times (music is too loud when im narrating something) and i have tried my best to fix it. Great video though 👌 top notch stuff

@@Blaircraft.Engines That is a great idea unfortunately the closest airport with services is over 50 miles away. Most of the strips here are just tie downs and a few hangers, most don't even have fuel; you call and a truck comes out to meet you.

Thanks for this video. I have the same Cleveland brakes on my Clipper. I will be putting on the same Aero Classic tires as you have but on Alaska Bushwheel wheel hubs. Going with the Baby Bushwheel tail wheel Assembly.

Nice vid for sure. Someone else mentioned the music. It may help if the music is much lower volume. Chasing volume to hear your voice.

Thanks. Appreciate the feedback! I reduce the gain a good bit, I’ll work on that area some more. 👍 I do have another shorter video set for tomorrow on preventive maintenance, (which is already completed) Hope the volume is better. 🤞

before tightening the nut on the brake line after new pad installation, did you have to bleed the line first?

I pumped new fluid from the bottom up after connecting the line again.

It looks like the brake bleeder is on the bottom. Wouldn’t it be easier to bleed the air out if they were on top?

Actually it’s best to have it on the bottom here. You pump the fluid/air from the bottom all the way up through the system out the master cylinder in the cockpit.
