It wouldn't even have made the film that much longer because its an alternative version of the scene we got rather than an extended one, my only thought why they removed it is because it runs as a whole scene and in the actual film it cuts back to Will, Elizabeth, Barbossa, Sao Feng etc. making their own deal

@lordmarcel9027 ай бұрын
@@TSMSnation Is there an extended cut, which includes this scene and maybe others? I also loved the scene, where Davy Jones tells Elizabeths father, that she is dead. And then he wanted to stab Jones and learns about the cost of stabing the heart. I know the father told us later, when the crew sees him in the locker, but I don't mind hearing it twice. Plus it would add more to the character of Elizabeths father. I agree with Mouldy Grapes. I also think, that the Jack-Beckett scene was cut down because of the parallel placing event with the crew. They wanted to put more dynamic in these two scenes and I understand why. But I love these intense dialogues between characters without cutting away from it. Scenes like they exist in the first seasons of Game of Thrones or in Breaking Bad. But series like these came after the Pirates movies. I think the third movie has so much in it, that it could be at least three hours long. And I would love to watch this.

"And you have spared me any possibility of ending up as anything other than what I am." That's a really powerful line. By branding Jack a pirate, Beckett permanently ensured Jack could only *be* a pirate. After all, the moment his brand was revealed after he saved Elizabeth's life in the first movie, Norrington intended to hang him. Jack, of course, loves being a pirate, but I imagine sometimes he has felt the weight and cost of it, but knows he can't change thanks to that mark on his arm, even if he wanted to.

It still fits. Jack's dad is a renowned pirate already. He decides not to be a pirate. Works for Beckett, who asks him to smuggle slaves. He chooses not to, which gets him branded as a pirate for life. So, he decides to become a bloody good pirate instead. And then, he goes on to pick a fight with Salazar, thus making a name for himself. This changes nothing about the continuity. Only adds to it. In fact, it even gives a more nuanced tone to Jack's speech to Will in the first movie, when Will says that his father is not a pirate.

I'll be unpopular here, but I think it's good this scene was cut. It makes Jack Sparrow too much of a good guy and justifies his behaviour too much. It also reveals a lot of his cards, removing ambiguity and mystery. Without the scene, you always keep guessing his moral alignment and there's unknown mysteries kept secret about Jack. Making him too relatable, too good might actually make him more dull not less. Overdevelopment in characters is a thing.

@@ck5274 Correct, most of this scene is in the theatre release but Jack's "people aren't cargo mate" line isn't included. This came out a little early for me to accuse Disney of wanting to shield people from the topic of slavery, I believe it was mainly cut because the film is mega long and naturally we don't see any of the events they're referencing as they happened about 15 years before this takes place It really did leave a lot for Beckett on the table though because he actually has more story from before the films begin than what we see of him in the 2 films. Initially positioned near the horn of Africa to oversea the EITC's affairs in the region, commissioning Jack to locate and charter a mission to Zezura, an island cloaked in a distraction curse - Primarily for the sourcing of "black gold" Pirates of the Caribbean: The Price of Freedom - A very good book * side note. this book will make you not like the 5th film (if you didn't dislike it already)
