That’s just wishful thinking. No one ever wants to really think about the reality of the situation. You would have to disclose their dogfighting background and bite history for the safety of people and families they would be adopted out to. For safety reasons, that information cannot go undisclosed. The chances of them all being adopted out with their known issues is slim to none. You have thousands of pit bulls/ bully breeds across shelters in the U.S that do not have any major bite history or incidents and they are still jam packed at shelters due to lack of adoptees. So many are put down weekly and these are ones that aren’t from known dogfighting backgrounds. So just imagine how difficult it would be to find people willing to not only take a breed tied to controversy, but one that is reactive and requires extensive training, specific living condition (no other pets, no children, specific closed backyard, etc) and a highly experienced owner. So then what? These dogs have to live in a 2x2 concrete cell for the rest of their lives because no one is willing to adopt them and humans are too stubborn to do the ethical thing and put them down. I have read too many stories about unwanted dogs being left at the humane society for 6-10 years and it’s depressing. And due to humans own arrogance, people refuse to do the most ethical thing and put them down but would rather subject them to a lifetime of imprisonment for their own moral superiority. This is coming from someone who volunteered at no kill human societies and have seen first hand what it’s like for dogs who never get adopted.

​@@jasminejohnson4850it's actually not difficult at all.. just look at the Mike Vick situation.. ALLL those dogs were rehomed & allot of them even lived out their lives with other dogs & had zero problems.. I've had MANY true APBT myself from fighting bloodlines & most of them were just big goofballs lol. Sure, a couple of them matured & had that natural dog aggression & had to be kept separate from other dogs. But even that wasn't a problem ! I just made them their own big area with a nice, cozy dog house & made sure to give them some extra loves, attention & exercise everyday. They were amazing with all humans, just couldn't tolerate other dogs. Didn't make them "bad dogs"

How do you know it was a fighting dog though ? Allot of famous bloodlines were created off of dogs that lost fights.. losing wasn't really that big of a deal & 90% of dogs that "lost" was because the owner picked the dog up & stopped the fight themselves to prevent the dog from taking unnecessary damage & being lost.. My point is, fighters didn't just kill dogs for losing..

Pit bulls used to be called "nanny dogs" because they are so good with children. If they are mean it's because someone trained them to be.

That was a silly nickname given to American staffordshire Terriers to express their natural, family friendly nature. However, American staffordshires ARE NOT American pitbull terriers. 2 different breeds of dogs. They may have "started" from the same breed. But, after being bred for so many generations with completely different standards, they became 100% different..

Seriously?? They have wayyyy worse problems then HW or parasites.

They don't want to say they are going to put down these animals. The SPCA is pretty notorious for it and they have harder rules and lines than many rescues. The dogs will not be rehabbed or tried with.

This story for example. They did take them from that horrible situation, thank goodness. But we all know they were put down and they didn't even attempt at a rehabilitation process.

See.. I think they could be rehomed carefully. Single no children owner No other pets, fenced back yard.. Muzzles if out on walks. It's doable with an experienced owner.

​@@sherw7635 or months of rehabilitation works as well. Train them to not bite/attack. There are fighting dogs all they knew was to hurt but only because they don't understand it's wrong & that's all they were taught to do. It will take a lot of time physically & emotionally for the dog & the person who is rehabilitating them.

Can they be great? Yes. Would I ever assume one I meet is? No. If a pit isn't raised right that dog and maybe its friends will kill you and/or your kids. It is a breed that should be assumed dangerous and regarded with caution until known otherwise. Even then I wouldn't trust one with my kid in case of a random snap.

Continued. MONA. We got her home and on Monday we took her to the vet. After 7 months of alot of good groceries and alot of love she is a beautiful Weimaraner. She is gentle and loves everybody. I tell her every day she is beautiful..🐕 I would like to put that women in Mona's crate and treat her the same way.

Most people would be surprised just how friendly and loving an actual "fighting dog" will be ! They're specifically bred to be 100% NON human aggressive. As long as someone's responsible enough to handle the dog safely ,has a good secure yard area where the dogs safe & can't escape and keeps the dog away from other dogs, shouldn't have any issue at all ! I've had plenty of pitbulls from old bloodlines actually bred for fighting & they were the best dogs I could ask for ! Couple of them had the natural dog aggression & couldn't be trusted with other dogs once they matured. but, I knew that was a possibility & was prepared to handle that.

Pretty much any dog will killl a chicken when not trained properly. Most people who get a farm dog have it kill at least one in training it to guard

@angelmori9468 hahaha... not every dog. I had a beautiful standard poodle, and when I got my chickens, she'd lie at the fence while I was in the pen changing water and feeding them. After seeing her there for a few days, they'd go up and peck her on the snout, and after that, she was scared of them. Same with the cats, they'd stalk up to them thinking yummy a bird on the ground, but as soon as they got too close, they realised shit these birds are huge, and the cats never bothered the chooks again. So I was lucky to be able to have them all loose together in the backyard, but the chooks loved going up to the dog, and she'd always be the one running away from them.

Pit bulls in general are not good pets to have. They are bred to fight, only takes a small thing to trigger its instincts

I assume because they're about the same size. Kids usually don't have power over animals so dogs assume dominance . Kids don't know how to fight back like dogs to assert their dominance, so... Kids get attacked

I mean, American Pitbull Terriers can easily have registered pedigrees lol all mine have 🤷 Staffys & pitbulls are different breeds. AKC doesn't recognize APBT, ONLY because it's a breed created specifically for fighting. Now that dog fighting is illegal & a federal crime EVERYWHERE in America, AKC doesn't want dogs associated with illegal activity in their registry. BUT, just because one kennel "CLUB" doesn't accept a breed anymore, doesn't mean they aren't a true breed !

@@mikefrost1312 Pitbulls aren't an official breed & the term is derived from mixing breeds. American Pit Bull Terrier, Staffordshire Bull Terrier, & the American Staffordshire Pit Bull Terrier are recognized breeds. You won't find any papers that list a purebred dog as a "Pitbull."

@@coreywilkinson2778 Just because the AKC doesn't recognize the breed doesn't mean they are not! Do you know how many breeds there on this planet? Do you know the AKC and the UKC are nothing but kennel clubs. Keyword CLUBS. And they ONLY don't accept the breed because it was originally bred for dog fighting. Still does NOT negate that it's a breed. How many generations does it take to establish a breed? What is that process? Oh and yes, you CAN purchase an American Pitbull Terrior papered dog with documented lineage from the American Bully Kennel Club.
