The TVR movie is an art piece where a smiling man in a flat cap sticks his hand into a hornets nest and then it pans out and he's in a burning circus surrounded by bears and gremlins made of electricity.

@@DjDolHaus86 Just some stuff of the top of my head, you can find more if you dig - He was one of the two masterminds (the other being Willi Weber) behind Michael Schumacher whole "I will sign *A* contract" letter of intent that landed him at Benetton instead of Jordan - He purchased Ligier (together with Flavio Briatore, who gives him a run for his money in terms of untrustworthiness) to get around the tobacco advertising ban in France, since the team was then owned by a Brit and an Italian - Speaking of Schumacher and Benetton, he was engineering director there when Option 13 happened

Hear me out: a trilogy of movies focusing on Lancia. First movie can follow Vincenzo's rising ambitions, heart-breaking (hehe) plot twist in the middle when he passes away and his wife and son take over and ending with the Fulvia's first WRC win Movie 2 can follow Cars 3's basic plot with a couple of tweaks. Starts hot on the heels of the Stratos going batshit, then Audi introduces the big bad Quattro. From here we have a more dramatic retelling of Clarkson's Grand Tour piece and the film climaxes with Rohrl winning in San Remo. We can also throw in an ominous mid-credit scene of Toivonen looking over a Delta S4 right before the 1986 season. Movie 3 follows the tragic decline of Lancia (Toivonen's crash, all their cars rusting away and being replaced with soulless rebadges), but also includes their last great hit of 6 time back to back wins with the Integrale, ending with a really emotional scene of some guy driving a Ypsilon down a street, lined all the previous great Lancias.

Two things: I still can't entirely tell if you like or hate Porsche. Eitherway, I respect it. Also, this isn't the car cinematic universe for Hollywood. This is just the Intergalactic Binman Avengers video. Which means Phase 2 will come soon with more videos. To which I will say. Top mark, no notes.

How about a Daihatsu vs Suzuki rivalry movie set in the 80s and 90s (nostalgia for that time is pretty hot right now, right?): The successful release of the first Suzuki Wagon R shocking Daihatsu who then proceed to develop the Move with a rear door instead of a hatch just to spite Suzuki, because the first Wagon R only had one door on the driver side in its base form. It would be a ridiculous trainwreck of a movie with a target audience of maybe twelve people and I would love it.

The fact that the idea of a Jim Clark Biopic has never been thrown about is criminal; you have the loveable underdog story, the rise to success, you have the year he won pretty much every racing series on earth, and the tragic death in his prime after a string of failures that harks back to Ken Miles in Ford Vs Ferrari that of course would have no sound and cut to black evoking pure emotion. You can even have it directed by Guy Ritchie as a Pre-Rush movie

cosmo: the story of the wankel rotary, plot is modeled on gone with the wind and follows an ensemble of engineers from the 60s to 2012 (main character is the son of one of the 60s guys), "tomorrow is another day" equivalent is the son walking out of the meeting the rx8 was killed in and going home to sketch the ND miata platform, setting up the climax of the universe's first era and transition from canon to fantasy where all the grizzled old car guys join forces with the new class (hybrid/bev guys) against all odds to make a carbon neutral affordable v10 hot hatch that saves humanity (that one's modeled on remember the titans)

Your forgetting another side of the pond in this universe, the triple threat of the Japanese auto makers! With Honda’s history alone I could see Hiroyuki Sanada playing sorichiro Honda. All things aside I’ve loved the idea of a connected web of a car history universe but it would probably be a hard sell to Hollywood… or they’re to stupid to realize the gold mine they’d have on this.

My theory on that one is Ferrari didn't like or approve of the movie and didn't want to lend them anything, also denied them access to any prized Ferrari. So they had no choice but to get the cheapest, most neglected Ferrari. It does seem very likely.

I got two sequels to pitch to ya: Ford vs Ferrari II: The Rise Of Cosworth (Chapman, Clark, Hill Sr and the Dearborn gang ruin Adam Drivers life, basically.) And… Rush II: Prost vs Senna (we’d start with Estoril ‘84 and get Brühl to do a cameo to basically tangentially connect the two movies. Must include scenes of an aged Adam Driver ordering anyone and everyone to sign senna, only first to be told they got Berger instead - ‘damnit, another Austrian’ - and finally him crying in frustration when told they got prost, followed by his funeral. Did that really happen? No, but c’mon…if Enzo can hang around Le Mans in ‘66, what’s a little fib about him living a few years longer than he did…)

@RoadToad123
@RoadToad123 10 ай бұрын
It’s a bit of a tricky one this. What you need to do is not to divide up stories between motor racing and motor manufacturing, you ideally need plots that bridge the gap between both. The Ferrari story is the main one that works but you could also try the Colin Chapman and Lotus.. However, I think his family would probably have full control on that tale and therefore the interesting bit towards the end regarding his business contacts and their endless sniffing would probably not be covered. The problem with some of the other personalities is that although their story might be interesting to us motoring anoraks, if you write down them down as an actual script they would actually be fairly dull. I mean I would love to watch a movie about Lyons trying to destroy Rover when in charge over at BMC or Victor Mueller trying to convince the Swedish courts to let him have his Perry Mason moment that he needed to defend the future of Saab but I think you need to be some sort of scriptwriting genius to make it fascinating for most people. However, stories of one-off cars that were a disaster and possibly even destroyed the company that made them would be much easier. There is a still a De Lorean, an AMC Pacer or even a Ford Edsel movie to be made. (“You know what its grill looks like, right Henry? You do know what its grill really looks like?”) Motor racing is a little easier. There is a script for a Senna movie knocking around and came close to being made a few years ago with Antonio Banderas attached but it didn’t come to anything. And let’s face the end of the Senna documentary was tough enough to watch. Even though you know what is going to happen and I don’t believe in premonitions, you can see the look of bafflement on his face at the weekends events and you’re just thinking “don’t get in the car, don’t get in the car, please just don’t get in the car,” There was also a Villeneuve/Pironi script too but that was a while ago & nothing seems to have happened with that either. But you could still do Rindt, Clark or Andretti/Peterson. That last one might be more likely with current events and the fact that it was an American world champion. There is even a full- on comedy in the mix if you wanted to do the story of Life Racing. That whole thing was utterly ridiculous and probably would look completely unbelievable up on the screen if you didn’t know it was true. I’d pay good money to see that. And as an afterthought, if you wanted to look at Le Mans again you could do the plucky story of a small team with a wacky Japanese sponsor so somehow battled through to win with an unlikely underdog car. In fact if you include both the Mclaren F1 and the Mazda 787 there are two stories to be told there. Anyway, I need to hop off back to me pond, those flies won’t catch themselves.

There’s a whole ass series ready for lee Iacocca, right then and there. Mustang might already be covered by ford v Ferrari, but then you can go to the whole pinto escapade and leave it with his firing from ford for the next film, his Chrysler days. That’s gonna be the big one, taking the shitbox heaven of Chrysler and single-handedly building the idea of the soccer mom minivan in the US, and the deployment of the K car in the 80s to keep them alive to the 90s.

Could you do a Future video on the final years of AMC & Renault, especially two cars that were planned to come out from them. A USDM version of the Espace, and a two-door coupe based on the 25 called the Allure. There were two things that killed off these cars, the assassination of Renault's President, & AMC's acquisition by Chrysler.

If you shoehorn Peugeot as a last minute vilain for the porshe movie, we can make a twist pseudo sequel about all the shit Ferdinand porshe did during ww2 and why Peugeot behaved the way they did toward the 901 name. Citroen can be a movie about an excentrique man with a vision, end the movie with a slideshow of the type of cars the company made during their ownership by michelin. Edit: the reason cruela wasn't successful with the literally me crowd is because you simply don't hurt animals, none of the characters this crowd identifies with is cruel towards anything else than humans since that crowd has misanthropic tendancies, not psychopathic ones.
