Rattlesnake Hunting In Pennsylvania. Some Pittsburgh boys from the north hills travel to central Pa with their good friend John Royer to hunt for the venomous timber rattlesnake and copperhead and fish for trout. The guys find a good amount of snakes and catch several then wet a line in the sinnemahoning creek. Awesome weekend in the Pennsylvania wilds! John and Luke both tag out on their very first rattlesnake!

The last time that I used a fly fishing rig was back in the 1980's. I would surely be rusty, but I'd bet I could smooth it out in less than 30 minutes. You guys can have at it with snake hunting. I'll relocate a black snake or a king snake to protect them. But I'm not messin' with no copperheads or timber rattlers! I don't see any copperheads around my house, since the black snakes and king snakes hang around. Love those guys! Taking care of business! Keep the good snakes!!

I was doing some research, and found your channel. My daughter this past week end was rock climbing in Ky. They always see copperheads, but never so close as this past weekend. The snake was the biggest she's ever seen, and it was just inches from her foot when she saw it. She jumped and yelled snake, she had their baby in her arms. When she came down she just about had jumped on the 2nd copperhead. She had run out of place to go, so she put the baby in her pack, and slowly started to climb the rock wall to get away from the snake. There was also a third one. They moved them from where they were going to climb and a short time later the big one came back, and was heading toward my son-in-law who was belaying his friend. He couldn't just let go and move. My daughter went and asked a guide who was in the area helping some inexperienced climbers if he could come and help. He scooped up the snake and moved him out of the way. They decided to move and climb in another area. There must have been a reason they wanted to be in that spot, as all the snakes came back. They must have been cold as they were pretty docile, even when moved. I was wondering if they were getting ready to have their young, or breed and delay fertilization until they come out of hibernation next spring. I enjoyed watching some of your videos. What type of video camera are you using, as it is crystal clear, in all lighting situations.

When I was ~ 14 & working on the family farm (East Ky), we went to the store for a bottle of pop. A neighbor & good friend had just killed a big rattler. It was HUGE...a bit over 8'6" and as big as workin' man's forearm! After looking it up later I learned it was a world record, but these old boys were just clearing out their chicken houses & tobacco barns. In fact, while I was going on (& on, & on) about it's size, my dad & another man said they had seen rattlesnakes bigger than that! (We were a good distance out in the sticks.) Good hunt though!

1st of all- I only said "big rattlesnake" 2nd-I've heard differently from snake handlers, but honestly I don't care...that was a BFR (big freaking rattlesnake). A rattlesnake bit (& nearly killed) one of my brothers a few years back. He only specified BFR. 3rd-As a young man, the 1st time I was shot at, I didn't pause to debate the weapon's caliber OR the inherent character of my enemy. I responded to the threat. But hey! The next time I encounter a rattlesnake, I'll ask it about it's religion. Until then, it's a BFR. Have a nice day!

@johnkendall6962 5 жыл бұрын
Did you see how many snakes there were, that's because they are regulated. Snakes are important to natures checks and balances. It seems that in some areas they are making a come back here. When in school I had to do a thesis on snakes . It surprised me to find out that the highest density of venomous snakes in the world is in areas of Pennsylvania . Some times as many as 18 snakes an acre. Hundreds can use the same den that they share with copperheads and sometimes even other non venomous snakes.
