PLACE A global art project 2021
One of the first things you learn to draw as a child is a house.
Sorry for the lack of videos on this channel, and I hope you will understand that the new project that I have been working on has taken up a lot of my time for the last month. I have always enjoyed working on these collaborative artworks and the development of the PLACE art project has taken a while to produce. This was originally going to take place 2 years ago, but as we all know the world has been left a very different place since then.
This video focuses on the production process of the 100 houses that became part of the project and are now spread all around the world including USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, South Africa, Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Norway, The Netherlands, Luxembourg, Austria, Ireland and all across the UK.
The idea behind this project was to try to bring people together and express their own thoughts and ideas about PLACE and what this means to them. The simple house model (made from variations of my Iron and Copper prints) was recreated 100 times and sent to 100 different locations around the world. The 100 collaborators are then asked to take that model and photograph it in a PLACE that means something to them. The photographs are then emailed back to me and will eventually be compiled into an exhibition art work.

The project is has really taken off and I have been impressed by all the photographs that contributors have been submitting. The 100 houses have traveled to some amazing locations all around the world and I look forward to sharing it’s progress. Although post may be a little slow at times the houses have begun to arrive in the USA and Canada, I hope Australia and New Zealand won’t be too much longer to wait.
I will continue to compile the photographs together and post them on my Website project page as well as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts. A book may be available later in the year.
