Flaps-up landings are so cool to watch, the plane is moving so incredibly fast that it's surprising how it can fully stop before the end of the runway!

I think a lot of these "hard landings" look normal to viewers of this channel by now. Every now and then you should sneak in a totally normal landing to help us calibrate our expectations.

They’re the VSTOL or B variant. They use the ski jump on aircraft carriers for take off.

CRJ200 no flaps is going to be ~180KIAS if heavy, 150 at minimum. 737-500 max weight flaps 40 is 140. Down to 107 at low weight. So ~40kts faster.

I don’t know why, but I’ve never seen a hard landing when a plane lands without flaps. It’s always a smooth touchdown

Lets say its not easier to land but there are 2 main factors : 1) in a no flaps situation pilots will put in double their concentration effort 2) the pillow from ground effects and the plane usualy producing higher lift bc of high speeds, means that the minimal amount of flare is way more effective at reducing vertical speed

Sky West was a very smooth landing, but boy was it fast. The Cathay Airbus Heathrow landing looked a tad rough but I have had a few like that.

Pilots did a pretty decent job with the hydroplaning jet, sure it went off-roading but damage couldn't have been that bad if it was able to continue taxiing under its own power.
