Just like we found with the testing that we did, the Blood Knot reduced the slippage and central core breaking and then improved the tensile test of the paracord.

You should do Atwood Rope battle cord 2,650 pound test

the 50' cord I get from Wal-Mart cost $4.97, and is made in usa. I don't know anything about paracord planets cord.

Is it the cordage by Ultimate Survival Technologies? I tested that last time.

biggest take away here is not to use a square knot!

I'm confused how 369 (738/2) is over the spec of 550. Is strength really rated on doubled up strands?
@lrnselfreliance5 жыл бұрын
I’m not sure what you’re asking, but strength doesn’t increase linearly. Two strands is over twice as strong as a single strand. Likewise, 4 is going to be something like 5 times stringers. Sorry, it really depends on the material
@JamesSeedorf5 жыл бұрын
@@lrnselfreliance this paracord is rated at 550 lbs, it broke at 738 for two strands or 396 per strand, that is 150lbs less than the 550
@lrnselfreliance5 жыл бұрын
Ah! Because I tested with a loop. I’m not certain that a loop is stronger than a single length of rope. That would be something I’d need to test. Unfortunately my test rig couldn’t do a single length of the rope. 🤷♂️
@TheLeesto4 жыл бұрын
he did say knots weaken the strength. if you fish you know not to leave knots in the line because that is where the line will break. how much it weakens is a bit of a guess

Do another test with a long piece and I bet you it will snap at around 150 pounds.

bow line can slip... man that was news to me !!!
@JustinCasey2163 жыл бұрын
Bowline knots do not slip when tied correctly. You can't just use a bowline knot it has to be completed with a half hitch or two or five.
@JohnBorgJacob3 жыл бұрын
@@JustinCasey216 are you not saying the same thing, you need to a "add" a hitch to bowline to make it not slip?
@JustinCasey2163 жыл бұрын
@@JohnBorgJacob well yeah, wouldn't you? You have a slack line that needs to be tucked away. Common safe practice and extra security. You don't rely on a single knot ever when you are securing your life or otherwise.
