The best thing about "what had happened was" are these crazy stories with absolutely no connection to the gear at first sight you come up every week...and every week it gets more ridiculous...love it!!!! And I have a feeling everyone does. Esp. yourself! As always: Greets from Germany!

Absolutely loved this video and have to second everything said about this machine and other E-MU modules. Back in the 90s in NY, if this was not in the studio, it just wasn't it. When I got to connect one of these to my Akai MPC2000, it was another world. I'm glad I have it today including the Mo' Phatt, Proteus 2000, Orbit and Carnaval. They look nice in a rack with all the colors. I'm looking to collect their whole line up. Just became a sub. 👍👍👍👍👍

Speaking of: True Story: Back in the 90ies when I studied Music/Audio a college mate of mine was working at a large music store in cologne and somehow got hands on empty rejects of all the emu-Boards (cases thad had a paintigjob error or whatever.) He bought some chrismas lights, triggered them via an old Comodore C-64 (he was THAT Geek), Then he screwed 15 of the dummy racks (Protheus, Mophat, Lead...I think of each model one) into a rack programmed with christmas lights, rolled the whole thing on the stage and made, along with his other synths, for more Blingbling Audiogasms at the audience as Depeche Mode , Kraftwerk and Jarre together., His whole "show" of course came from a DAT. And, some day he forgot to Duct-tape the remote-control-receiver on his Player.....and his Ex brought the usual Sony RC to one of his gigs....and she was pissed...but thats another story... ;-)

The Planet Phatt is so good. It’s a bit ridiculous that it has a bass patch called Fingerus and a vox patch called Cumming. But it’s amazing that a legit company called it Planet Phatt and put it in a neon purple metal box with a lightning bolt across the middle. I like to think it represents a pair of spandex booty shorts starting to rip because they can’t contain all that ass. The only other rack synth this awesome is the chrome XV-5050 with the orange screen and green backlit buttons.

omg I forgot about that with the fortune cookies in chinese food, it was unacceptable to bring chinese food for someone and it not have the fortune cookie. As u said, you'd have to go back to the store. The Planet Phatt...man I've wanted one of these so long. They've become expensive. I downloaded the samples from the company that bought their sound library - but they're are just static soundfonts based on samples. Half of me wanted somehing that would sound hip-hop so that I'd def sound authentically hip-hop, but the other half of me couldn't bear to buy something so on-the-nose wannabe hip-hop. I've seen some great demos of the Planet Phatt but I have yet to hear anything cool from the sucsessor Mo Phatt. I hated the Proteus 2000 sounds, I got the PX-7 Command Station with the Protean Drum set - it was cool and I was so stupid and sold it because it was expensive. Expensive to get them now. btw this is my Proteus /1 G-Chip (or H-Chip?) demo kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Y8h-lpegqb_cY2g.html

I saw that photo that came from Armen's. Any NYC producer knows what Armen's shop look like. He gave me a sweet deal on a brand new MPC X 3 years ago.
@prufrockrenegade
@prufrockrenegade 2 жыл бұрын
Are his prices better if you haggle with him or trade in gear in person? I live in the NYC metro area but never went to his shop because the prices on his eBay store are always like at least 30% higher than everyone elses. I assumed things would be the same in the store but if he's willing to work with people I may just have to stop by and check the place out

@@prufrockrenegade yeah, he def works with ppl. I went to his shop to purchase a used MPC X for about $1800 and while I was there he said why take the used one and gave me an opened box of a brand new one for the same price.
