Maybe...juuuust maybe I was a little quick to judge Babymetal off of their uncharacteristic appearance on Bring Me The Horizon's "Kingslayer". This is my first listen to "Rondo Of Nightmare".

- “I love any band that has theatrics.” Boy, do I have good news for you. BABYMETAL is all about theatrics. They’re meant to be consumed live, everything about the way the write their music is to put on a good live show and they do just that. - Su-Metal is such a phenomenal performer. She has been performing in some manor since she was just 6 years old. She is essentially a child prodigy. So even at 16 here, she is also basically a 10 year veteran at this point. She sounds much better live as well. She is always doing something to put on a show, whether that he her voice, dancing, facial expressions, she is always doing something out there. I can’t even say words that do her justice tbh. - There is normally three members of BABYMETAL. The lead vocalist, Su-Metal, then there is also Moametal and Yuimetal who do mostly backing vocals and choreography, but also have songs of their own. This is one of Su’s four solo songs. Her solo songs have a more mature feel to them, because she has such a naturally powerful voice. In their “normal” songs she’s normally dancing and doing all that other stuff with the other two so her vocals aren’t as impressive (still very impressive) but she really gets to belt out for her solos. Her other solos are: “Akatsuki”, “Amore”, and “No Rain, No Rainbow”. - BABYMETAL has 40+ songs and none of them sound alike really. They hit a lot of different genres and styles, you can’t really “get” them until you’ve heard at least a few songs. I always say, no matter who you are there is at least one BABYMETAL song you’ll like just because they cast such a wide net. They’re not scared of experimenting with weird, different combinations of stuff and I think that’s pretty cool. - I would say always check out their live stuff more. There is a few music videos that are an exception, but other than throws always do live shows for BABYMETAL. - I recommend “Road of Resistance”, “Headbanger” (from the Legend 1997 show), or Megitsune (music video)

The thing about Babymetal is that all of their songs have a different feel. As far as Road of Resistance, yes, you should definitely check it out. There are issues with the live video on KZfaq being blocked on reactions, so you may have to blur it out, or put something over the video, but it's well worth the trouble. The official live video showcases what the gist of Babymetal shows are, meaning high energy, crowd control, and all around incredible showmanship.

Budokan is very important for BABYMETAL, not just because the importance of the venue itself in Japanese history, but also because they played 2 shows here (Red Night and Black Night) in early 2014 which were the shows to launch their first album, as well as to “depart” for their first World Tour. On March 1 and 2, 2014, the band gave two concerts at Budokan. With the average age of 14.7, they became youngest-ever female act to give a show there and sell out both shows. The two concerts were attended by 20,000 people. If you've played the LEGENDARY BUDOKAN, you have made it. If you've played a sold-out TOKYO DOME 55,000 SEAT STADIUM two nights in a row ( SEPT 19-20 2016 ) - - you are immortal! BABYMETAL 4 LIFE….

Doris Yeh of Cthonic has meet Babymetal around 2014. Glad you delved deeper into Babymetal, live shows are always a spectacle with audiences of 55,000 in Japan and over 60,000 in the uk. MV of Karate and Megitsune are excellent, don't forget Babymetal celebrated 10yrs in the business so some videos are like Doki Doki Morning and IIne are a surprise. Opened for Metallica in South Korea, and performed with Korn, Slipknott's Cory Taylor, Lady Gaga and played with Rob Halford of Judas Priest. The musicians are called the Kami band and are some of Japans best, Takayoshi Ohmura guitar, Leda Cygnus guitar, Boh bass, Aoyana Hideki drums and Mikio Fujoka guitar who passed away. The lead singer Su is 16 in this video, she is now 23.

Thank you for reacting to BABYMETAL!! The musicians are called the "Kami Band". "Kami" means god in Japanese, and these guys are like gods of music. They are all men and are Japan's best musicians. They are wearing burial gowns and corpse face paint because in the BABYMETAL legend/fantasy/storyline, the "Fox God" raises the musicians from the dead and calls upon them to play the music for the girls for each concert. The 3 girls have been chosen by the "Fox God" to unite the world through metal. In this video, Su is just 16 years old performing at the famous Budokan arena in Japan. I believe BABYMETAL are still the youngest band/artists to perform there at the time. The Beatles, Ozzy, Cheap Trick, and Bob Dylan have performed there too. She has such a commanding presence that you forget that she is a tiny girl on that stage, at just 5ft -1inch (155cm) tall. She may look like a tiny mortal, but she is a giant beast on stage. I read a recent comment that described the lyrics best: She is singing about "a nightmare running away from a monster she can not see...she is exhausted and hides in a well. And she gives up and just asked the monster to show itself to know what she was running from before she dies.". This is one of their darker songs. Of the 50+ BABYMETAL songs, Su's solo songs have more depth lyrically. BABYMETAL concerts like these, especially the ones in Japan, are about 1.5+ hours long, and because the girls go hard on every song, the other two girls, Moa and Yui, use Su's solo as a chance to take a break. Great reaction! 🦊🤘

Nice reaction & thanks Japan 有難う💛。 Kamis' (=Gods') super plays were excellent enough as a main event in the show, but once the 16-year-old Queen emerged from the underground, she colored everything differently and turned Kamis' plays into a ritual to summon her. This was filmed in 2014 at Budokan (武道館). Currently BABYMETAL has been holding 10 concerts at the same venue to commemorate their 10th anniversary taking very strict countermeasures against the infection. They held 1 thru 6 shows in January and February. The stage setups were much more spectacle and aesthetically mesmerizing. I witnessed 5 shows at the venue and almost died for joy 5 times.

BABYMETAL was put together by the producer Kobametal around Su-Metal, the lead singer in this video, back in 2010 when she was around 13 years old and their first shows were for crowds of only 100-150 people. In this video, Su-Metal is 16 years old performing at the famous Budokan arena, which I think holds about 20,000 people.

⚡ / 🔥 😱 🔥 This performance is my standard answer to anyone who says that BABYMETAL aren't really metal. : ) It's already epic, and THEN Su rises up from beneath the stage. This song had it's world premiere the previous night. The 'Mischief of the Metal Gods' instrumental often precedes 'Rondo of Nightmare', but not always. This was the Black Night at Budokan in 2014, with Leda Cygnus and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars and Hideki Aoyama on drums. And of course BOH on bass. Not that many people play a six stringed bass to begin with, let alone tap one like that. I appreciate the complexity of this song, but if there was too much going on at one point for you, that's a valid personal opinion. We're going to have to keep you away from Gacharic Spin though. That band raises chaos and cacophony to an art form. : ) 'Road of Resistance' (especially the "Live in Japan" official video") would be a great follow up. They may be some copyright issues though. Some folks have worked around it by overlaying a logo on top of the video. Another classic performance is 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!' from the 'Legend 1997' concert: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/h6ujgsR-x7Sqp6s.html That one doesn't usually have the same kind of copyright issues.

Most BABYMETAL fans realize that not everyone is going to like their music. Most people probably will if they are willing to give them a chance since it typically takes three or four songs before you find one that really clicks with you. I completely blew them off the first time I heard one of their songs, and it wasn't until a couple years later that I became a real fan. I am REALLY glad that you weren't told to watch Gimme Chocolate. It isn't a bad song, but it is one of their more "fun" songs that doesn't really showcase their talents, in my opinion. It also tends to get a lot of "WTF" reactions, which is probably why it tends to be the first song that is suggested to someone who hasn't heard any of their songs before. All of BABYMETAL's songs are different and utilize many different genres of music, not all of which are metal. It is almost a given that you will find at least one song that you like, and the energy, talent, and commitment that they put into their music will probably turn you into a fan eventually. Welcome to the foxhole, and I hope you enjoy the journey. Kitsune up! Edit: Also, be warned that Amuse tends to be fairly quick with Copywrite claims when people are reacting to BABYMETAL's music, so you may have to get creative if you want to share your journey with the rest of us.

Good reaction. I think everything that needed saying has been said already so I will just second all of that and echo Steffen Jachnow's comment. Oh - the Budokan ... BABYMETAL are the youngest average age female band ever to headline there (Su was just 16, Yui and Moa were still 14) - and they sold it out two nights running. That was even before they released their first album. In the last month or so they have finally returned to the Budokan and so far played another 6 out of the 10 concerts scheduled there as part of their 10th anniversary celebration.

As was mentioned already, Su, the lead singer was only 16 years old here. You asked if her vocals are as good live as they are in the studio? Yes! They are. She sounds much better here than the studio track. Well actually, she sounds great whenever she sings but the studio track doesn't have the power in her voice like this does. Rondo is one of their best and most popular songs but you haven't really heard Babymetal until you have been introduced to the other two girls and seen the real Babymetal experience with the choreography, stage presentation and crowd control. Road of Resistance will give that to you so of course I recommend it.

Glad to see you gave them a proper go. But you have barely scratched the surface, my friend! You will have read all the comments telling you how extremely varied Babymetal's music is, but it's hard to comprehend just how true that is without having heard quite a few of their songs. "Rondo of Nightmare" was a slightly proggy ballad, but "Road of Resistance" will be full-on power metal. As you keep going you will get nu-metal, metalcore, djent, dubstep, death metal, trap metal, speed metal and more. "Tales of the Destinies" is as progressive as something can get and still be called music. In "Shanti, Shanti, Shanti" they go full Bollywood with Su showing of some amazing carnatic vocals. "Megitsune", "Starlight", "Kagerou" have her doing great Japanese enka singing. And in "BxMxC" you will get straight-up rapping. One would think that this could easily get embarrassing, but Su totally kills it. You might not love every single song, but you will certainly never get bored... After "Road of Resistance" let us know if you will keep giving us more Babymetal reactions, and I might actually subscribe.

Road of Resistance is sort of Babymetal's "Welcome to the Black Parade", meaning it's a song that most symbolizes what the band stands for and a great achievement in how far they've come. Being a Babymetal fan, its hard not to think of a song I wouldn't recommend. But aside from RR, i would also say: Catch Me if You Can (Live Compilation), Megistune (Live Legend 1997), Akatsuki (Live Budokan), and Starlight (either live compilation or official music video).

If you want Chris Farley level of energy, BABYMETAL definitely has many songs at that level, but "Rondo of Nightmare" is one of their slower songs. "Road of Resistance Live in Japan (official)" or "Arkadia" are great examples of their high energy songs. You just have to make sure you put a logo or blur over the "Road of Resistance" video since that video is quickly blocked without it.

Nice reaction! I am Japanese. Please excuse my poor English. Babymetal is a band that teaches us the folly of trying to understand music by categorizing it. I support Babymetal for trying to resist the recent trend of only using genres to describe music we don't understand. They remind me of what Miles Davis said when he said that his music is not a genre of jazz.

Definitely give RoR a listen. But please beforehand put some cover onto the video since it gets blocked a lot. Like the Babymetal logo or something. Also could recommend the song Distortion live version. Adding some info below. The intro is used before a few songs, mostly Rondo of Nightmare. The players are the Kami (god/spirit) Band and they are Babymetal's live band. The Kamis in solo order were Leda Cygnus, Takayoshi Ohmura, BOH, Hideki Aoyama. They're Japan's best session musicians. (And I really recommend Ohmura's music, he plays hardrock mostly).

The “Mischiefs of Metal Gods" intro is a ritual performed by the gods of guitar, bass & drum to summon the Metal Queen Su-Metal. because in this song her human soul has been trapped in the recurring nightmare with no way to escape. the Kami Band in this show are : - Leda Cygnus (1st guitar solo) in the past usually play with 6 string, but now he's using 7 or 8 string. - Takayoshi Ohmura (2nd guitar solo) in this song he's using 7 string guitar named "Golden Moon". but, during the extra show "BM Metal Galaxy World Tour in Japan" in 2019, both him & Leda was using 9 string guitar (ESP E-II MF-9 BabyMetal). - B.O.H (6 string bass) - Hideki Aoyama (drum) his little brother (Yuki Aoyama) and father (Jun Aoyama) also a drummers. but, sadly both passed away. his father is consider as one's of the best drummer coming from Japan.

Here's the thing about Babymetal. They do every... single... genre... you can think of. Although they do tend to do Power Metal a few times, most of what they do is something out of left field. And it's ALL good. They do Ska metal, Pirate metal, Folk metal, Indian, Thai, Latin, Djent, Death, Rap, Dubstep, Thrash, Nü, and sometimes a little bit of everything mixed into one song just to f**k with you. Everyone will tell you to pick Road of Resistance next. I say just pick one at random. No matter what you pick, you will be pleasantly surprised and nothing like what you expected. My personal recommendation is Ijime Dame Zettai live at Sonisphere 2014. Their very first festival performance outside of Asia, in front of 50,000 UK metal fans who had no idea what they were about to witness and the girls of Babymetal thinking no one would show up, but by the end having the whole crowd chanting for more.

The Mischief of Gods Intro was believed to be a ritual needed to perform to summon Su-metal from the depths of hell and only those with the skills of the Kami Band can do it. These Kami Band intros were only performed on their live performances as they're technically not a part of babymetal. They just play for them. The song itself has dark lyrics. It's about being trapped in an unescapable, reoccurring nightmare being haunted by an unseen creature with no means of escape. Su was one of the singers who sings way better live than the studio recordings. The way she uses different styles of singing depending on the song was really awesome. From the 'cutesy' sounding voice at Awadama Fever, to the dark sounding vocals at Rondo of Nightmare, to the victorious, triumphant sound at Arkadia, to the saddening tone of No Rain, No Rainbow, to the pump-up rap in BxMxC, to the Indian style of singing in Shanti Shanti Shanti and many more. She was a very versatile singer. Babymetal was a 3 member group that consists of Suzuka Nakamoto (Su-metal; lead vocals), Yui Mizuno (Yuimetal; backup vocals and dance), and Moa Kikuchi (Moametal; backup vocals and dance). For you to see how they rule the stage in their live performances, I recommend you their songs Road of Resistance Live in Japan or Headbanger Live Legend 1997. All of their songs are awesome and sounds different from each other. Catch you at the foxhole! Kitsunes up!

BABYMETAL 101 Babymetal is a Japanese group Founded in 2010 and produced by Key “Koba” Kobayashi from the Amuse Inc. talent agency. Babymetal name comes from the birth of a new style of metal fusing j-pop with metal creating what they call Kawaii Metal (Cute-Metal). The group currently consists of Suzuka Nakamoto aka “Su-Metal” (23 years old) sometimes referred to as Vocal and Dance, and Moa Kikuchi aka "Moametal", pronounced as Moa-Metal (21 years old) sometimes referred to as Scream and Dance. With a rotating trio of girls filling the third slot, in a 3-member formation. These girls are known as Avengers and are Kano Fujihara (16 years old) ((Most likely not an Avenger)), Riho Sayashi (21 years old) ((RMost likely is not an avenger anymore)), and Momoko Okazaki (17 years old) ((Still an Avenger)). They are supported by a rotating selection of talented male backing musicians known as the Kami Band (Kami is usually poorly translated as gods, but in truth it more closely means awe inspiring spirit, entity, or object) It is why they are dressed in white to look like ghosts or spirits, though Kami being used as God(s) is so common in translation the white outfits get lost. Past Formations. Heavy Music Club Era (2010-2012) From 2010 to 2012 Babymetal consist of a three-member formation, Suzuka Nakamoto (Age 12), Moa Kikuchi (Age 10), and Yui Mizuno aka "Yuimetal" pronounced Yui-Metal. (Age 10). First starting out as the Heavy Music Club as a subunit within the Developmental Idol Group created by Amuse in 2010 known as Sakura Gakuin. Sakura Gakuin is group that introduces girls between the ages of 10-15 to music, dance, modeling, and acting through Japanese Pop idol music and culture. Given a school theme, all three would be a part of Sakura Gakuin until their graduation from it in the same school year they would graduate from Japanese middle school or 15 years old. Suzuka graduated in March 2013, and Moa and Yui in March of 2015. Sakura Gakuin is a fantastic group with great kawaii jpop songs in their own right. During this time there was no lore, and the girl’s costumes were more punkish in nature which they helped create. They also didn’t perform with live music, using a backing track or the “Skeleton band” people pretending to play music behind them. Music Video of this Era Doki Doki Morning Iine (Pronounced EE-NAH spelled i i n e) Headbangya Babymetal/ Metal Resistance Era (2012-2017) Starting in 2012 with the Legend I concert, Babymetal began its slow divorce from Sakura Gakuin, and was the first introduction of the Kami Band as well as the “Lore” that is still heavily involved in Babymetal but makes far less sense than it did during this time. The Lore is complex and involves a battle against other evil idol corporations, gaining powers, some time travel, running a resistance group, all at the direction of a mythical deity known as the fox god, against an all power enemy known as Akiba. The first Legend show I was the Kami Bands introduction to the end, but it also had the Skeleton Band which is seen in the wildly popular Gimmie Chocolate Music Video. This was followed by Legend D, and then Legend Z, in which it was learned that Babymetal would continue as its own entity after Suzuka’s graduation from Sakura Gakuin in March of 2013. Slowly over 2013 the Skeleton Band would be phased out of all live shows, as Babymetal came into their own. Babymetal as it is most commonly known as with Su-Metal, Moametal, Yuimetal, the Kami Band, and a somewhat understandable lore is what consisted for the majority of it’s existence. Also established beyond the 3 member formation, they had 2 other set ups, one was what fans called Su-Solos, and it would just be Su on stage with the Kami band, performing a solo, and the other is known as Black Babymetal by the band themselves, which consisted of just Moa and Yui. Music Videos of this Era Gimmie Chocolate Megitsune Rondo of Nightmare - With mischief of the Gods Intro (Su Solo and a great expedition of the Kami Band) Road of Resistance Live in Japan (Co-written by Dragonforce) Iijime, Dame, Zettai Live at Sonisphere (Name means No More Bullying Forever) Karate The Dark Times, The Chosen 7 Era (2018) In December 2017, Yui would miss the Legend-S concert for health reasons, these health problems would prosiest into 2018 and greatly affect the 2018 touring season bring the “Chosen 7” formation, consisting of Suzuka Nakamoto, Moa Kikuchi, and 2 backing dancers Minako Maruyama, and Minami Tsukui. Changes they would not tell fans and all throughout 2018 communicate extraordinarily little causing lots of pain for all involved fan and performer. This era is noted by their strange armor like costumes, sometimes referred to as Elf Armor. To make the poor communication, and Yui’s absence wasn’t bad enough, one of the more regular Kami band members, Mikio Fujioka passed away after falling off a balcony in late December 2017 while star gazing. A beloved and incredibly talented musician lost leaving behind his wife and only child. In September 2018 Yui would formally resign from Babymetal, stating her unspecified health and wishing to move on. Babymetal themselves announced that the group will move on focusing on Suzuka and Moa. (Something many idiots within the fandom refuse or are too stupid to understand) In October Babymetal had a concert called Dark Night Carnival which added dancers, Shoko Akiyama, Saya Hirai, and Kotono, placing a total of seven girls on stage. This was also done without warning to fans and was an absolute mess. Babymetal would finish off the 2018 tour season returning to the 3-member formation with just Saya Hirai joining them in southeast Asia and Australia. Ending one of the most troubling times in Babymetal’s history. Music Videos of this Era (These MVs do not feature the members in them at all) Distortion Starlight (Don’t let overzealous fans fool you, this is OFFICIALLY not a tribute to anyone. A lot of fan speculation, end of story) Metal Galaxy Era (2019- Feb 2020) The current set up was first introduced in 2019 during the Babymetal Arises concert in Yokohama, before the start, the “Avenger” support dancer concept was explained in the lore, and the concept thanks to communication and a maintaining of the 3-member formation brought Babymetal out of dark times brought about during 2018. Babymetal seemed to have returned to its roots with the Avengers, as 2 of the three (Kano and Momoko) come from Sakura Gakuin. The third Riho, went to the same performing arts school as Suzuka during the same time, Actors School Hiroshima aka ASH. Music Videos of this Era Pa Pa Ya Elevator Girl Shanti Shanti Da Da Dance (Avenger confusion) Which Avenger one sees can be confusing for those new to Babymetal. For the Music Videos, Pa Pa Ya, Elevator Girl, and Shanti Shanti Shanti, it is Kano Fujihara, who was just 14 years old at the time. Da Da Dance is a compilation of Momoko and Riho and a splicing of 2 different shows. In most fan cam videos of the American and European tour it would be either Riho or Momoko, as they toured with Babymetal in 2019. Kano had responsibilities with Sakura Gakuin as its president, a position Suzuka and Moa both held in Sakura Gakuin, and she’s never flown on a plane before. Some fans for 2019 did throw a stupid temper tantrum over the use of new Kami Band members who are from the west now known as the West Coast Kami Band, but like how the girls won over many, so did they and the payoff with the Legend Metal Galaxy concert in 2020 was well worth it. COVID Era (Mar 2020 to current time) COIVD-19 has messed up a lot of things for everyone, Babymetal had to cancel their Asian tour, as well their big 10th Anniversary on October 10, 2020. Forced to keep it rather tame something very unlike Babymetal as even in their failures like the entire 2018 tour they do it septically. The question for many fans is what of the Avengers, since COVID, Avenger Riho Sayashi has signed with a new agency and has move on to other projects, including starting a fan club, which appears to rule her out of ever being an Avenger again. Kano Fujihara has graduated from Sakura Gakuin on August 30, 2020, a near 4 month delay. However, she and fellow Sakura Gakuin graduates Soyoka Yoshida, Tsugumi Aritomo, and Momoe Mori in the formation of @onefive. Which leaves Momoko Okazaki as last standing Avenger with no new commitments. However, Kano was technically in Sakura Gakuin, @onefive, and Babymetal all at the same time for almost a year so it is possible she will still be an Avenger. All shows since COVID pandemic they have done in 2020 and in 2021 have had Momoko as the Avenger. Music Videos of this Era BxMxC (First music video that isn’t footage from a show and featuring Su and Moa since Karate in 2015)

So true, sadly - way too many people don't take the 2 seconds it would take to realise that a reactor isn't being negative about a group'/singer/band but just expressing that they didn't PERSONALLY find it appealling. There is a LOT of music, and musicians, out here I can agree is great within it's genre, but not my thing - just as for some others they will be 'less than enthusiastic' about some of my musical preferences*. NB, while I'm not normally a fan of "metal", I've been keen on these ladies, and The Kami Band, for quite a few years. I really, REALLY love Suzuka's vocals which works so well with the band! *For example, blues, jazz, some(!) country, but mostly 70's and 80's rock - and The Waggaki Band, and Bandmaid, and Blackpink 😍

Thank you for understanding that. I’m about to release a BXMXC reaction today and I preface it with that exact sentiment...just because I don’t find a song (or a single element within a song) appealing it doesn’t mean I’m saying it’s bad. It just isn’t for me.

Thank you for giving them a chance. They have many more "metal" tunes. Especially Babymetal Death. Hope you will get to that one some time if you like Road of Resistance. The thing with them is they are more of a musical theater production than just a band. . .they genre mix, so their songs are VERY different from each other. You may also enjoy that they put many homages to the greats of metal (past and present) into their songs. Hope you will react to more. And BTW, keep the honesty coming as I'm sure you will. Much of music is just personal tastes, and when somebody doesn't like Babymetal (or whatever) and just doesn't dig it, it really isn't dissing or being disrespectful. It is just honesty. . . .I think the fans (known as "The One") just wanted you to actually check them out directly as the BMTH track was just Su-Metal (lead vocalist who was just 16 years old in the video you just saw and held her own with one of the most talented metal bands around . . known as Kami-band) doing a guest vocal. Even one song doesn't necessarily define a band. Imagine if somebody only heard "The Walrus" and wrote off the rest of the Beatles catalog. . .lol. . . .anyway; I enjoyed your reaction very much and hope you will try more Babymetal. @@planetxmetal Well to be fair BM is a huge rabbit (fox) hole for many reasons. They have a LOT of lore to their concept and they incorporate that lore into their live shows which makes it all the more interesting (especially if you like theatrics) and use a lot of mystic imagery that mixes space, Japanese culture, Christian culture and many many other things. Another reason it is such a deep dive is because of the story of how they came to be and the many struggles they had to endure to get to where they're at now. Many people have this wrong - but understandable - preconceived idea that they just got planted there with a huge budget thanks to a brilliant marketing idea from a big corporation but that's actually far from the truth. They started with very humble beginnings and had to grind their way up to the top. And obviously one of the hardest battle was to be accepted by the metal community which is no small hill to climb.

ROAD OF RESISTANCE is all about energy. Live in Japan 2015 is a prima in KZfaq. In terms of overall composition, I lean toward STARLIGHT. Take the Official MV as it provide better audio clarity and mixing. If you are willing, SYNCOPATION is a great rock-metal composition as well. Only audio and fan comp videos available in KZfaq tho. For dynamics, well... I'll give you CATCH ME IF YOU CAN. I know that there are parts in it that you'll abhore, but give it a shot if you want a bit of trivia. The performance at Budokan Black Night 2014 also give a bonus of instrumental intro from the Band. Thank you... :)

8:30 its creepy as hell coz the song itself is lyrically disturbing abit. The songs tells a story of girl who keeps having nightmares of being chased by... something. One night, in her nightmare, she finally gives up running and faced the thing that was chasing her. Before surrendering to her fate, she only asked for the name of the thing that was chasing her all this time. The slow and gentle lyrical bridge u said that was creepy, this was the part that she surrendered. Its one of babymetal’s heavier songs both musically and lyrically. Another heavy one that i like is “akatsuki” They do make relatively fun and silly songs, my favourite being “oh majinai”. N yeah, quite a few new fans like me were like you i guess. Stumbling across babymetal’s more rediculous songs, and be like... “dafuq? This is admittedly unique but this isnt my thing”, n dropping it😂😂😂. And THEN coming back later to find other songs n be like.... Hot DEYMN, this SLAPS. N theres no turning back after that hahah

I think when it comes to Babymetal a lot of people can't get over the more cutesy vocals, but that's fine not everyone has the same taste or ability to over look the vocal style to see how good the group can be. The great thing about the vocals, however, is hearing them evolve from their teen years to a more mature sound over the last few years. This was a good song to listen to, a lot of people start with Give me Chocolate which can put people off really quick. Whether you like it or not, just giving it a fair chance is all I think anyone should ask. Be warn that they have a pop influence as that's where the idea came from and they do experiment with different styles of music as you will find out if you react to more.

one reason for the overreacting BM fans may be the fact, that this band was blamed as "not metal" or "music for pedophiles" by all the Metal-Elitists out there for a long time. Even now, you feel in a defense position, when you say that you are a Babymetal fan. The metal community can be very toxic, and so a "this is not my stuff" can easily be misunderstood. the "Problem" with Babymetal is, that you can not assign them to one special subgenre of Metal. They have influences from almost every genre. Just listen to "Iine" and you know, what I mean :) Electronic, Pop, Rap and Death Metal in ONE song... and it works^^ So you have to listen to many songs, to get a good overview about this band. Try out Megitsune (my favourite), BMC, Catch me if you can, Akatsuki and Tales of the Destinies. (sorry for my inaccurate english, not my native language)

It is criminal to ignore the wave of extraordinary rock and metal talent coming out of Japan currently and, as a former DJ myself, it seems incredible that a rock DJ would be ignorant of it. I can only assume it is because of the western bias in the US music industry that this remarkable pool of talent is so unknown among western listeners. Fun fact: The lo-fi portion of the vocals at 08:28 - 08:47 is NOT a mixing effect. Su-metal is doing that herself. If you notice, she has the mic laying on the side of her nose. She's singing through her nose, not from her mouth. Most people think it's either pre-recorded or it's a signal process. It's not. It's 100% Su. Yeah, she's THAT good.

Agreed!! That becomes even more apparent with BxMxC. Shanti Shanti Shanti is quite technical as well. I used to study Indian music as a minor in college. Incredibly difficult to learn that style of singing in the tradition of artists like Amr Diab. Su-Metal ability is really quit amazing considering that takes years to learn.

I don't think it is. She wouldn't be able to generate enough volume. She's just lip singing it like she does for other similar parts where there whispering or guest parts that she doesn't sing on the album.

@@russellward4624 You clearly haven't been following Su-Metal very long then lol. She doesn't lip sync and in fact has been many concerns lately. That Sakura is pushing too hard and needs to take a bit of a break. Su-Metal has been performing since the time she was 9 years old. That's about the time Sakura Gakuin noticed her above-average potential. I didn't even notice it myself really. Until she performed with Rob Halford of Judas Priest. Such a perfect power collaboration there. Babymetal doesn't do anything halfway but haters going to hate I guess. Nice try though given lack of context but oh well lol. :b

@@BlazinNSoul She does lip sing the parts she doesnt sing on the album. Watch the performances for Catch me if you can. She lip sings the whispering part every time because you cant wiser in a mic and it project over the guitars. Moa and Yui lip sung quite a lot, the entire Tokyo Dome performance because they cant project their voice like Su can. They just dont have the vocal power. If you watch it when they communicate with the crowd theyre literary screaming and you can barely hear them. It doesnt sound live. Theres no reverb on her voice for that part. On the MM show of the Trilogy 2015 you can hear when the mic comes back on. She sings 100% of the stuff that can be sung live. But there is 1% of the songs that cant be recreated live because whispering produces a much lower level than singing. Its at least 10% of her normal singing volume. Youre not going to hear it so they have to use a back track. They use back tracks quite a lot. Theres parts where her voice is doubled, plus the growl voices and the guest vocals.

@@russellward4624 From that standpoint I see what you're saying. Every artist at one time has used a backtrack. I'm a sound engineer so I know a thing or two about that. Why do you think artists have monitors on stage or in their ears frequently?Because they can't hear s*** on stage & having backtrack helps them keep their timing so they can focus on the performance. Here's an interesting story from Michael Jackson's 25th anniversary Motown show in 1983. Where he introduced the moonwalk. Which was 100% in the can and he still shook the world with it. _____________________________________________ There are other reasons as well especially when you're dealing with live TV. Because it helps negate live production sound problems. Which can occur due to various variables depending on the venue. in the case of a television performance for instance. The band is usually on track and the vocals are live. As was the case at the Tokyo Dome when Su-Metal performed The One. Along with both versions of Akatsuki which were Live. I think those are two of her best vocal performances. Su-Metal from my guess is an F3-E-5 vocalist. Which in itself is pretty impressive & above-average among other idol artists. _______________________________________________ But she needs to be careful with that not push too much which I'm sure she's well aware of given her experience. Sakura I'm sure probably has a vocal coach watching after her very closely. Because she does have a tendency to push 120% all the time. While is great for fans but isn't great for your voice. Then when there is a rigorous dance routine like in the case of Pa Pa Ya. The band will usually be live & the vocals are on track. I heard a recent interview by a doctor that talks about Nakamoto's vocal abilities. Which in large parts due to her unique nasal cavity. Which has allowed her some pretty unusual skill sets. It's an interesting read if nothing else. :)

too bad people bashed u just because kingslayer wasn't to ur taste. i absolutely hate it when some dickweed elitist goes "babymetal isn't metal!1!!11!!" but some bm fans gotta realize that people have different tastes and even if babymetal produced and recorded a song directly from the heavens some people still won't like it, and thats perfectly ok. glad u came around them tho. great video!!

> "I got ripped apart..." No reason to get theatrical... :p But honestly, I think this is somewhat... exaggerated, isn't it? > "I love bands that got theatrics!" So welcome to the wonderful world of BABYMETAL! Their live shows won't disappoint you, I think. > "Maybe the recorded version of that song doesn't have that issue." That's right. But the recorded version has another issue: They heavily processed Suzuka's (the lead singer's) voice. So we (the fans aka. THE ONE) don't like it! Since you already got your toe dipped in the pond - sometimes some insistence doesn't hurt at all - I will give you some suggestions for further reactions: *"Ijime, Dame, Zettai"* live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 in the UK kzfaq.info/get/bejne/iNVdksaTy8rWiXk.html *"Karate"* live at Download Festival 2016 in the UK kzfaq.info/get/bejne/p752bJeDrL-pnas.html *"Akatsuki"* live at Nippon Budokan in 2014 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nZhjapV0mraufIE.html *"Syncopation"* live video compilation kzfaq.info/get/bejne/q8BhZK2Gv7OchmQ.html *"Road of Resistance"* live at Saitama Super Arena in 2015 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sLp1jLh3zLLalY0.html *"Megitsune"* live at Makuhari Messe in 2013 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/n8WPrLuYl7zOZ4U.html *"Shanti Shanti Shanti"* live at Glastonbury Festival 2019 in the UK kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rZtxn6iS28rNoHU.html *"No Rain No Rainbow"* live at Hiroshima Green Arena in 2017 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/pqqXpNJny8nQmY0.html *"Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!"* live at Nippon Budokan in 2014 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/f5imqK6A0sqVmqc.html *"BxMxC"* live in Bruxelles in 2020 (fancam) kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eNB-e6SLpqe1pZs.html That's enough for the start, I think.

If you want to do RoR then do Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) - this is the finale of a concert and shows them after 90 minutes of performance rounding out a concert. This is why fans love them.. they perform at 100 miles an hour near non stop. And remember at the time the girls are around 17 (Su) and 15 (Yui and Moa).

Hello. First of all welcome to the hole. You have taken the first step to enter "the one" (as Babymetal fans are called) with a great song, but only one of us 50 songs available. There is a basic principle to react to Babymetal. Always live. It is one of those strange bands where live performances far surpass studio versions (they have received awards for their live performances). If you are going to react to Road of Resistance, I recommend the "live in japan" version, it is without a doubt the best.
