Free speech should always be defended, but a certain amount of sensitivity and decorum should be used by the person demonstrating, and there have been and will be again plenty of opportunities for people to show their distain of the monarchy, but to do it at a funeral is just not right.

@@80sSumpy I agree. There is a time and place for everything. And actually I think a public street is a perfect place. The timing? Completely disrespectful. 100%. Still, it does not matter in terms of what people have the right to do. So by all means call them planks. No argument here. But the way the gentleman were speaking in this segment sounds like advocating for tyranny. Even if it is something I find foul, I might not like what you say, but I will defend your right to say it.

@@solsticebaby I agree with you, It is usually the host of this that shows himself to be the plank. As I said free speech should be defended, but the phrase that comes to mind is "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should". I am ex RAF and so have a lot of respect for the Queen who I swore my allegiance to, but I still believe that anyone who is against the monarchy have the right to publicly say so. That is one of the things that makes Britain the great place to live, but our society would be so much nicer if people thought about others as well as themselves, I don't believe a funeral is the place for any protest. At the coronation next year would be the perfect event to hold a peaceful demonstration against the monarchy.

It can also be construed as a crime.. an example being if a football fan attempts to enter the section for the opposition fans then i believe this is interpreted as inciting violence and is therefore illegal. I would say that this is a similar situation in terms of a minority riling up an already emotional majority and would probably be guilty of incitement or a similar public order offence
