@@hittitecharioteer hard to answer that if you leave coercion undefined: certain things are worthy of certain levels of coercion ie I agree that the disturbing photos on cigarette packets are a reasonable degree of coercion to stop people smoking, I don’t think banning them entirely is necessarily reasonable…

With regard to 'Engineers'. I used to be a 'Customer Engineer' to a certain computer company and ran about repairing printers and computers. Nearly always I was greeted as "The Engineer", I always said I was the 'Spare Part Fitter', or just 'The Techie.' All the female C.E.'s we had always made a point of calling themselves "Engineers". However, one customer was so incensed with one young lady's work he insisted on a male 'Engineer' coming back to repair her work.

We used to distinguish between "engineers" who did the calculations and planning, and "technicians" who used pliers and soldering irons. The Germans also used to distinguish between "diploma engineers" (more practical) and "university engineers" (more planning).
