Watched the video twice, got my cookbook out, and made this immediately. I wanted the crunch desperately! I dipped them in my cinnamon tea because it’s too late for coffee for me. All four boys emerged from their rooms because of the smell, and they circled like sharks in the kitchen until I said they could eat them. We all loved them. 💚

I’ve made these several times, and they are truly yummy! Christmas this year is just going to be the two of us, so I don’t know if we need the whole batch, but I may succumb anyway. We’ve been following Dr. Esselstynn’s plan for 11 years. My copy of the original book is dog-eared and marked up. I’m glad to have the chance to say thank-you again for changing our lives, and to wish all of you a very Merry Christmas!

Thanks for a fun video. Jane, I have to say that how you cook isn't how everyone cooks. Blessed to cook plant-based concoctions with your Mom, you are building memories, exercise with your timer, and seem to have tons of fun. So, no, you don't cook the way everyone else cooks. Machines make storebought biscotti look perfect, but who wants perfect. Merry Christmas to all the Esselstyns and Harts. May your new year be filled with blessings of joy, peace, hope, love, and more good memories.

Thank you for the entertaining video. I baked these today and they all fell apart. The flours I used were half brown rice and half almond flour. Maybe I let them cool too long… I have no idea why none of them stuck together very well. It drives me crazy that they don’t say how much of each ingredient! How much molasses? How much ginger? How much baking soda? I just ordered the book, but for today guessed on the amounts..

Can you explain please ? Also I know you have a garden do you also use tons of herbs or just the basics ? Ps to those black beans you make add some cilantro it makes it even better! @lizhyrkas3989
@lizhyrkas3989 2 жыл бұрын
There isn’t any clove oil, just clove spice (powder). It’s only 1/8 tsp so if you don’t have it or if you don’t like it, it should be fine. Pumpkin pie spice has cloves in it too so you could sprinkle a little of that in if you have it on hand.

@suzybear22
@suzybear22 2 жыл бұрын
I wouldn’t think so. Dr Esselstyn’s guidelines for his heart patients say no added sweeteners and no dried fruits. The cookbook doesn’t specify between cardiac “prevention “ and “reversal” recipes.
@JaneEsselstyn
@JaneEsselstyn 2 жыл бұрын
Actually this is ok for heart patients- the guidelines are” not an excess of sweeteners like maple syrup etc”…and it is easy to not use the raisins if you don’t want to. The 2 T in this recipe are acceptable. Jingle jingle, Jane
@suzybear22
@suzybear22 2 жыл бұрын
@@JaneEsselstyn Thanks, Jane. On one of the FB groups dedicated to the "reversal" version of Dr Esselstyn's food plan they allow NO added sweeteners, not even a drop of maple syrup or hint of a date. The moderators there claim many recipes in the P&R Cookbook aren't safe for heart patients, even though on a different, now-closed FB group the moderators spoke with Jackie or Dr E himself and both said a small amount was OK. FB gets very confusing! LOL
