www.footscientific.com Dr. J. Robert Faux explains Plantar Fibromas and how to live with and treat them. Home remedies and treatment solutions are also discussed.
For more information on foot conditions, treatments and solutions, go to www.footscientific.com.
- Activity Modification: Limit the amount of the time you stand and the number of steps you take.
- Unnecessary motion or stress can be decreased by stretching the calf muscle
- Remove in shoe orthotics or discontinue arch support temporarily, to allow time for the arch to heal.
- Using anti-inflammatory medications: A lot of the pain symptoms are due to the body’s inflammatory response to the arthritic changes in the foot. These can help decrease these symptoms.

I suffered excruciating pain from this to the point I was crawling on my hands and knees - in a two story house. Couldn't walk. Knots of pain all over the bottoms of both feet. It lasted two weeks. I found out two of my cousins had it too. It hasn't returned for 14 years, thank heaven, because it completely incapacitates you.

I hope you healed. It’s hard having family like that. I suffered from Crohn’s disease and everyone called me lazy. I just discovered this on my foot and it hurts to walk. Last time I had foot pain it threw my whole body out and caused hip, back and neck pain. I hope that doesn’t happen here

Hey, I just wanted to say thank you so much. My podiatrist couldn't give me a solid diagnosis but after watching this video and after the details she gave me, I am fairly sure that it's a plantar fibroma. You really do help people and I also wanted to say that your video setup is impressive. I hope you have a good day.

Excellent, matter of fact guidance and advice. Not alarmist. Not linked to a product. In fact, I was about to order an orthotic insole when I spotted this and thought again. I broke my right foot Aug 2020, had to weight bear in casts as my mother, for whom I care, was laid up in bed for several weeks just days later. I thought the increasing pain in my left foot was plantar fascitis because of the change in my gait on right side. Last night I felt the lump in the arch. Very similar to nodule in my right hand caused by Depuytrens Contracture. This video has helped me keep it in perspective. Thank you.

Thank you for this information!! I started wearing really hard arch support, due to overpronation, and it was after this i noticed the fibroma. I wonder if i got it due to trauma from the arch support? It has been two years or so, is it ok to wear arch support? It is still there, and it flares up a little when i massage it😕

Very well explained! Unfortunately I am one of the unlucky ones with fibromatosis and have tried cortisone, orthotics, and now trying cryotherapy administered through a syringe under anesthesia. The first procedure helped improve the pain somewhat, but it's looking like a second treatment will be needed for my left foot at least. I just had the right foot treated and hoping for better results as he went deeper with the syringes for the right foot. I am hoping this works because I am not even 40 years old and work a very physical job that requires me to be on my feet constantly. I have one large mass 5cm in length and 2 cm in width on my left fascia, and two marble sized nodules on my right foot. So hopefully the cryotherapy works because surgical removal I really don't feel comfortable doing.

Thank you. My nodule is about 1cm in diameter and just before the bull of the foot but at the edge of the arch. I feel like my toes on both feet are constantly at risk of cramping literally every time for years now if I kneel down on both legs and sit back on my feet = my toes cramp. If I turn in bed on my front and my feet can't dangle off the end of the bed but I have to bend the ankles = my toes cramp. walking around barefoot for a while = a toe cramp. basically, they are in a constant state of tension, and no around of ice, anti-inflammatory meds, or rolling my foot on a massage ball has ever helped ad I have this plantar fibroma knot in each foot. Been wearing orthotics for years so might now consider not having them for a month or 2 and see if makes a difference running out of options

The hands should also be examined for a proper diagnosis. In my case, I had swollen finger joints and later fibromas on the palmar fascia. The specialist I consulted in London described my problem as Dupuytren's Syndrome. He advised against surgery to remove the foot fibromas becayuse they typically returned larger than before after surgical removal.

Unfortunately I developed very painful plantar fibromas and my left foot several years ago. They continue to get larger until surgery was required 2 YEARS ago. It was extremely invasive but I'm happy I did it and have had no regrowth. You could also try pain management which can include steroid injections and your spine to numb the nerve that goes down to your foot. This is an awesome option!
