Indeed! I stand there looking at a space saying things to my husband like, “no, I think the layering of plants needs to be in place here since we see it from the window. It’s a big area so let’s not forget the seasonal interest as well” I get a look like 🤔 what are you talking about? Lol.

You often make reference to planting the same things each year and are concerned it’s not interesting for those who have been around a while. Please know that we, too, often plant them same things each year and your videos of planting and pruning serve as real life reminders of when we need to do those things!! So please keep it up!! ❤️🌸🌻☺️

Before I went to bed last night I thought, "I'm going to check KZfaq and see if anyone posted a new DIY." What do I see when he came up? A new Q/A video of you guys. I thought, "Holy cow, they usually don't post this late." So now I will have check every night to make sure I don't miss a video...lol. You were talking about living where the humidity is high and I thought, Laura and Aaron would stroke out if you lived in Tennessee. When I go out to work in my flower beds, mow the lawn, trim limbs on the trees, or just sit on our deck, I feel like I drenched myself in a bucket of water from sweating so much. BUT... I would rather be hot than cold. Cold hurts this old woman's bones.

Laura’s gone “wild”…. Never thought you’d grow anything that could just be so free form. So happy for you that you get to just let the space be what it wants to be. So much freedom in that!!!! Question, you said that they don’t like clay soils. I live in north Texas with black clay soil. Could you amend the hole and plant them? Thanks Laura, I know how much hard work is it to film and plant. Appreciate you taking the time to slow it down and show us all the steps. I’ve learned so much from you. Everybody thinks I’m an expert in the family cuz all my plants grow and thrive. And my beds look so nice since I’ve started planting in odd numbers instead of onesies!!!! When I read the title and saw Sumac I immediately thought “OH NO!!!! Why why why would you want them. Don’t do it!!” ... but then heard you say they are less aggressive spreader. I 🤞🏻🤞🏻 you are correct! I have no reason to doubt your expertise but my yard had the older species of Sumac and we removed them all a couple of years ago. We still have Sumac that pops up all over the yard and flower bed. I just can’t get rid of it!!! Prior to removing them, I agree, they had a gorgeous fall display and come spring the robins here in WI would eat the left over fermented berries. Watching them fly around drunk really was another show. 😆 None the less they are my nemesis!!

Bless your heart, Laura. You're such a super heroine. What a beautiful wildlife sanctuary will also result from all your efforts! See the quail, they're getting the "word" out. Hope you add a little ground bubbler fountain so they can have an oasis to drink water... love the progress.

Laura, you have me the confidence to dig up my suffering hydrangeas... I had originally placed them in a shady spot years ago and they don’t bloom very well. I spent hours getting them into a better spot yesterday. They probably still won’t bloom this year but they have a better chance next year!

Am I the only Old man watching.?! I just received 3 black lace elderberries from PW today to insert within a upright Hicksee yew hedge/screen I am planting in the backyard. Retirement has sent me into the yard to keep flexible and to enjoy morning coffee with the birds, rabbits, squirrels and of course the energizer bunny, Mrs Laura. 🐰🐰👍

Just a glimpse of the roses and the west side makes me ask when is the next garden tour? I love your gardens so much! Need to see around chicken coup, behind green house, a peek of what’s in the green house, 14 containers along drive, gardens at back door, garden along sidewalk with circle walk, how cutting garden is growing on and what’s in the high tunnels. We all live somewhat vicariously through you and your garden and I need a stroll around. Benjamin is a sweet, sweet boy and you are not the only one who realizes it. His spontaneous “wonderful” was absolutely precious. I truly enjoy every video. Thank you and Aaron for sharing with us.

Looks like a perfect spot for elderberry (and you mentioned serviceberry nearby), with all those huge trees beyond that white fence I can see a lot of birds enjoying the berries and living and nesting in those trees! Beautiful way to help wildlife!

wow.. cannot wait to watch this area grow! i love that you have captured the plantings of this area on video: what a legacy for your children and grandchildren (if the property stays in the family) to see how it all started... it's hard to imagine having a property this big when my entire house and property could practically fit in your barn, hahaha... it's going to be amazing!!! i'm excited!! thanks for the video!!

I have the old Sumac growing on the edge of my woods and yard. I really like the look of them and they do try to spread into the yard. Mowing keeps them in check. They give a bit of a tropical look to the edge of the yard.

Happy Friday Eve! Beautiful footage of you driving the gator to the planting site, especially the shot through the arbor of roses. Is this the type of elderberry you can make elderberry syrup from the berries?🥰

I just planted a Laced Up Elderberry that doesn’t get as wide as the Black Lace variety…so excited to see it grow. Also…I have 3 Tiger eyes in my yard…4th season with these….only pulled out a handful of suckers so no big deal. They are so amazing that it is worth a few suckers every year. 🌸👍🏻 I appreciate all the extra effort for the extra driving footage….makes the video flow so well. Thanks for all you do.
