Pay to win, looks like Gardenscapes. Normal levels are very very difficult, hard levels are insanely hard. You can’t replay previous levels to farm coins to buy power ups, so if you’re stuck in a level you need to get the wallet out. Only one lawn mower per level, does not let you choose the plants you want to use in that level, repetitive, too many bucket heads in the same lane. Some levels as soon as you have 3 sunflowers down you have 2/3 zombies in different lanes. You must have a connection to play the game.

What is the point of a third entry in the series when it doesn't improve anything their predecessors have. This game is disappointing specially because it could be the last one. They could just get rid of the 3 and market it as a spin off. I don't think that is going to happen tough.

I was actually just playing this game just recently and I made it past the first 10-13 levels wondering when I would get past the tutorial parts and get to select my own plants. After watching this video, I guess I never will.

The story setup is just a ripoff of those other puzzle story games like royal match and gardenscapes. Where you play like 15 levels and then get to decorate some part of your house. The only addition I liked was Dave’s Niece Patrice, she’s cool and it’s nice to see another human in a PVZ game. The story starts good with Patrice looking for her uncle, finding a robot lawnmower, repelling an infectious zombie fog, but then it’s just pointless decorating.

The way the game is set up as well I’m not sure how they will add any other modes like last stand or endless or even new plants to play with, at this point the 2020 version looked better then the one we have now, more new plants and zombies and fun gimmicks like extra attack speed if you have symmetry in a lane, gone are the days of hearing that nostalgic level end music while you wonder which new plant you will unlock and play with, it’s literally the same as what they did with the variants in BFN idk how they didn’t learn their lesson, and the lack of animations for cherry bomb and jalapeño just makes the game feel so so unfinished and not up to standard, even something as simple as having the ability to unlock other version of defence plants to replace grapes of wrath that charge up over time would be awesome.

I fully agree with you this game seriously sucks and it’s not fun at all, it lacks of several elements from the previous games and it's too frustrating to play with such unbalanced levels with too many zombies even at the beginning and no freedom of choosing your own plants but especially Cherry Bomb, Jalapeño and Chilly Pepper have been turned into expensive powerups which is such a big L from PopCap and EA, George Fan would have done a much better job with this game if he wasn’t fired. So yeah this PVZ Sequel is very awful and honestly i also hate the Sun system because it’s just exactly like Clash Royale with the numbers and plants are even nerfed because Snow Pea takes much more hits to kill a zombie, especially an imp and the Squash no longer kills a Gargantuar in two hits.

A good trilogy would be to keep originality while adding new creative aspects. Like adding a plant champion that u can keep and level up through levels, or different level designs such as different zombie paths, or even defending two lawns at once. A cooler story like Dave’s brother or something

I'm not a PvZ fan like you guys, but that doesn't mean I don't see the disappointment in your hearts, I do. I'm a big fan of other zombie game called Earn To Die. The publisher (Not Doppler) launched ETD3 in limited testing back in 2018, then removed it a couple weeks later with no word. Unless you were a hardcore fan, you'd never know it even existed... Since a couple months ago, they've been limited testing an early access game that is a spin-off to the franchise. Still, during this period, NO word has been spread on their socials except job applications on their website to alert fans. Talk about great communication between fans lmfao!

This was the first PVZ game I played; and if I didn't know how the other games played, I would've given up on the franchise forever.

You can't even choose your own plants, this ruined the game for me. you should also try the chinese version of PVZ1 all plants and the zombies ar cracked on steroids, imagine a gargantuar version of a football zombie, that's the stuff you deal with like bruh.

i just had a chat with a friend and he said he would play the next garden warfare if its as good or better then gw2 i think he knows that ea controls pvz and tried to give me false hope or he's clueless and actually thinks another garden warfare is being made this game shows they dont care im annoyed that pvz 2 is mobile only and now that i know pvz 3 exist and is only for mobile again makes me angry i love pvz its my childhood game since i was 8? 9? i dont remember my uncle showed me the demo for pvz 1 and i fell in love with it but i have zero hope, no faith for any sort of revival for pvz i'll stick to pvz1 and 2 and garden warfare 2

I don't why they didn't just make the story about saving people or help people defend against zomboss army. Heck they could make it where if you save certain gardeners they unlock new plants to earn in a improved gacha system (aka it being more f2p friendly). Heck the gardenscape aspect could have been cool you could have been able to build your own base/garden. There is so many things popcap could have done but they chose the facebook route of mobile game development.

I didn’t even know this game was out till recently, when I found out I was excited. Turned out to be a bit shit. I got up to level 150 so far. It starts out super easy. Then when you get to level 130 upwards some levels are just like brokenly difficult. The night levels are just fcked you have minimum sunlight and they just through max waves at you. It feels like the end levels you need power ups to pass. Although I did eventually pass without power ups. After 15 attempts. I think in some ways I like the simplicity but I think after 11 years they should have been making something more developed. Than this, it’s a bit of a joke on the company for them tbh.

Here's also a piece of my mind regarding the game: I absolutely hate that there's no instantaneous plants just for free use. Why tf is the cherry bomb and jalapeno on the right side as a power-up? They could've just done 150 and 125 respectively. Don't even get me started on the removal of 25 sun and the 25 multipliers and that's what kept it engaging especially with strategy games. Who tf will be interested if your main source of income is like a stingy, run off the mill gacha roll? Yeah like i got 2 sun it's like you got 2 dollars in a fucking war game, who buys a tank for 2 dollars? Oh and the story. Yeah, it's fine Dave, you're the savior of this town by artificially made zombies that can lobotomize your species real quick for their sustenance led by an evil genius but my god, the city is at stake, and there's no blood everywhere, you would think that they finally got mad and started eating the townspeople's brains but I've seen enough zombie movies to say that there should be brainless humans lying around because hurr durr zombies attacking lets go Tl;dr pay to win util, uninteresting number system, and no sense of urgency

Most of the levels feel like a reptation, and some of the levels are SOO difficult it is impossible to complete without boosts. (I'm stuck in a ridiculously hard level right now [97 something]) Also insta kill plants being treated as power ups is just stupid. Lets just hope it would be better before it's final release.

there's no way they put you in a world overrun by zombies that have time travel, where plants can walk and have supernatural abilities, and a sentient AI to just say "Hey, this man need help with his garden! Can you help him?". They could've made you finally liberate the world, maybe delve further into the human side of the story, maybe trouble with penny, or literally just mashing together their other ips would've made a better game than whatever this generic looking mesh of color is.

I had not realized PVZ had a 2 or a 3. Just the Shooter.

They aren’t making a PVZ game, they’re making a mobile game. They don’t respect the tower defense classic that launched Popcap to success, they respect the amount of money it makes. They’re trying to be something they just aren’t, and it sucks, they completely lost their identity. Danerade said it best in his almost 3 hour long video about how shit this franchise has become, and most importantly, why.

It took us 4 years to get the second game. It took us 11 years to get a soft launch of the third game.

So it’s basically just Homescapes with a copy and pasted version of the old game

I personally liked the concept of being able to use special plants without having to pay for it, some plants pretty expensive. I did end up playing the game, I liked the graphics, the concept of there actually being a story and lastly, actually being able to use plants without paying. However it got boring fast, I pretty much quit after level 34, I do think it has potential but it’s clearly not living up to it

I think what they trying to do with it now is to make the game phase much faster and more replayable but I don't think they should do that. What they can do that can probably work is to copy Clash Royale's gameplay (a PvP tower defense) since the idea of PvZ already revolves on that format. And since Clash Royale is kind of on a down fall lately, they can benefit from that.

I can't even really appreciate 2. Never owned a smartphone, never had a computer that can do Android emulation well enough that I don't feel I'm paying money to play the game in the form of diminished system lifespan, and the times I'm most likely to want to play a game like this are times I don't have access to the Internet. They've had ten years to repackage and sell it as an offline PC game: I'm not going to argue anything requires them to, but I'm also not going to give them my money if they insist on selling it in a way making it this inconvenient for me to buy and play it. That said, I have managed to play 2 for a few hours off and on over the past decade. It doesn't have enough variety and little idiosyncratic weird things to really compete with 1, but it does have a lot of vaguely balanced stuff in it, and that means you can probably find a few "intended" ways to play you enjoy as well as a few less fair ways you find fun to get through the stuff you're supposed to be spending money to pass. ...3 doesn't sound like there'd be any fun in it at all.
