NPSL is an installer and launcher for running Rick Gaiser's neutrino

on a PlayStation 2 connected to a windows PC via Ethernet.
Neutrino is a third-party application that functions as an optical disk emulator.
This allows games to be played from a ISO file without any physical disk.
The ISO files are stored on an exFAT storage volume or partition connected to the PC.
The ps2 connects to the PC with the udpbd-server program.
The udpbd-server streams the game data live while the game is running on the ps2.
The benefit of this method is that the ps2 is capable of higher data throughput when using its Ethernet interface.
Loading games via Ethernet is faster than using a disk or USB drive.

Hello guys today I will show you how to use neutrino to play ps2 games from a network connected PC on a ps2.
This uses the udpbd protocol just like the special OPL build that I made a previous video on.
The benefit of neutrino is that it has near perfect game compatibility.
Neutrino only works with drives formatted as exFAT with Linux.
To start off we first need to download a ISO of gparted live so that we can create an exFAT partition.
Now we need to connect the PC and ps2 with an Ethernet cable,
I will only be showing how to configure a direct connection that does not use a router.
If your PC doesn’t have a spare Ethernet port, I recommend to use a USB Ethernet adapter.

To add more ISOs first close the udpbd server. Now copy the uncompressed ISOs to the special exfat partition (example E:/DVD/). After all the ISOs are copied, run the setup script again from step 12: github.com/MegaBitmap/NPSL After clicking install, wait for it to read "The installation has completed without errors". Then new game icons should show up on the desktop ready to play.

I would’ve preferred to just run a udpbd server on the pc and get a sort of gui on ps2 to choose the games. I think I’ll stick to udpbd and opl….. that way I only set the pc and forget it and do everything from the PS2 itself….

If your ps2 does not read discs, I would suggest to get a memory card with fmcb pre-installed. Preferably one with MagicGate.

I honestly feel like using a raspberry pi with PSX-Pi is the better method.

Your tutorials are just amazing.... but I just wanna ask whether this would work for the slim 90004 model....I followed your last tutorial on udpdb as well ..turned off firewall, virus scan but the games wouldn't show up.... is this different or just an alternative version of the last one. Also is there any compatibility list for the same?

Thank you. 90004 slim should work but I have not tested it personally. The first video I made for UDPBD was using a fork of Opl. This video showcases neutrino which is a separate project that has been updated with much better compatibility. They both use the same server and protocol. There is not a compatibility list that I know of but if you find a game that won't work or crashes while loading please leave it in a comment.

@@MegaBitmap Yeah, I hopelessly gave it a try and this neutrino method is working flawlessly on 90004 model, the disk lens keeps malfunctioning time and again and so there was no way left, you are a saviour for retro game lovers like me. Thanks man!! Keep up the good work!!❤❤

so ı buyed a pre modded memory card but ı have big question at least for me so when the modded memory card arrives ı have just one 1 memory card so it will out of storage eventually and ı cannot save games and ı will use this method to play games then how ı can save games please answer this question really important to me ı sawed virtual memory card method but that method as far as ı know just working for when you are playing games from a usb so this method is better than usb one but at the end ı cannot use vmc method because ı am playing games from lan not from usb and the vmc method will not work right ?

The udpbd protocol provides higher data throughout. This results in faster loading times and smoother fmv payback.

i am new to this concept and i dont get it. why do you need ps2 for those? cant you just run games with emulator?

pcsx2 is amazing but there are a few benefits to using a real ps2. Emulators add around 3 frames or 50ms of input lag, many games stutter or do not run at full speed. Real hardware has better compatibility with fewer audio and visual glitches.

Hi, i follow all the steps but when i launch a game the ps2 take me back to the browser. Any idea for that?

Run the NPSL installer again and make sure to check "(DEBUG) Keep ps2client open". Then use the new game shortcut it creates to try and launch a game. After the ps2 returns to the browser, copy all of the text info on both ps2client and udpbd-serer. Paste the text into a KZfaq comment.
