i think he just knows how that feels but hes probably been playing for enough years and the muscle memory/skills are so ingrained he doesnt struggle with nerves anymore. i suspect people with 0-3 years playing mostly struggle with this. Ive been playing for about 3 1/2 months and definitely feel this way lol

holy crap im so glad someone else can relate to this! i can be alone playing anything - sounding great and losing myself in the music as if the guitar/mando/banjo/whatever is playing itself, but then anyone walks in or watches and my tempo falls apart and i can barely remember any chords and my fingers don’t fing... i was starting to just think i was delusional lol

It might be reversed footage if he filmed in the wrong direction, there are cuts in the video indicating he filmed parts of that pan separately

Don't be afraid. Its easier than you think, just dont focus on the people. It's more awkward when its just a few people you know in the same room as you. If you know your stuff and sound professional, people wont notice if you make a mistake

Its fine as long as they dont clap so loud and fast that it will ruin ur momentum and tempo like what happened to me when I was soloing, sadge times

You have to try a few times and it doesn’t take long to be comfortable. Then you can have fun with the crowd. You cover up mistakes by “acting like they never happened” or better yet, Own them and have the audience laugh with you. You might (will) make cringe “I messed up” faces at first but that will go away too. Good luck!

I had always had a problem playing in front of people and the only way to over come it is to get up there and do it. After playing on stage a few times you will become more comfortable and realize that there is nothing scary about it. I'm so focused on what I'm doing that I almost dont even realize anyone is watching me lol

I brought my first guitar a few months ago and when I went to the guitar shop the store assistant started handing me guitars to try out. I was like "what you mean like in front of people, but I don't know how to play yet so it's gonna be really bad". Probably the most self conscious I've ever felt 😳

Good stuff. I have a stupid level of social anxiety, so this hit pretty close to home. I've gotten better over the decades but I still tend to avoid eye contact with the crowd on stage as much as possible.
