AnOnEmOs I once stayed for a longer time in the cold winter listening to an accordion player (who played mostly classical) and gave him 10 dollars in total, I enjoyed it a lot because he was great, and I'm just appreciative... people can be you know.

They did this as an experiment once in London, I believe. Some well known musician in disguise playing classical music in the Underground... can't find it on YT... who was performing in a concert that evening. No one recognised him and few gave him money despite a superlative performance. Funny eh... Yet the dudes going to his concert would have paid a lot...

I've seen quite a few videos where buskers record themselves to try to get a social media following, so it's not super strange as far as having the setup. It definitely does cause people to look closer at the actual person for sure, though.

Yea that’s definitely a deterrent for most people. Would have been much more interesting without a giant tripod and camera right next to them. That’s a big turn away for most people, especially these days.

Agreed, I really wish there was just a small low quality camera, especially as even cheap cameras nowadays are decent. imo it wouldn't take away from the video at all and would make for a cleaner experiment

Nah people are just afraid to show that they're into meme music by donating money cuz it can be shameful. On the other hand showing that you're into classical music is always "cool"

Actually busking has to be prepared properly like any performance and it will work better when you've got a shitload of gear like microphones, amplification, proper backtracks if you play solo, attractive outfit ... Location is also important, you want people to stop by to create a crowd so the middle of the shopping alley is not the best place (people are just hurrrying between shops, they don't take time to stop and listen... )

@@valeaves In some places people perform to earn money and it these places the mentality is already fixed that people who perform on the streets are doing it because they need the money. Regardless, if that mentality is in the passerbys' mind and they see that camera, they won't donate
