I think he did pretty good that segment. Brought up what the Habs need(which is not Karlsson) Was realistic about Laine and his contract talks Was sensible about the flames Was spot on about how ridiculous it is for the canuckle dummies to trade there 1st rd pick to bring in a bunch of stuff when they’re so far off from a cup. Doesn’t sound like a bad GM too me. I should say, some days he sounds like an idiot. But on this day, well done

Blair Walker I won’t speak for the other takes, but his takes on Montreal in this segment are really pathetic lmao. Karlsson would be a good addition to the team. It’s like he tries to shoot down Karlsson as a possibility so that when he shoots down Duchene, it looks like Montreal is still centre starved, and in the same position. Karlsson would be an upgrade on Petry, and would allow them to move Petry after a great year with high trade value. Not to mention, they have a bunch of centre depth coming up for a year or two down the line. I’m not here saying Karlsson or Duchene will come to Montreal, but I think Karlsson would be an upgrade on our RD for sure, and Duchene is a possibility. This guy just wants to bash Montreal

Montreal needs centers ? Suzuki OHL playoffs mvp who can play just about anywhere on offence, Domi who just broke out in fashion through a 70 pts season, KK who had a great rookie season, Poehling world juniors MVP (look at the list of guys who won it in the past 20 years, all all-stars), we still have Danault who is a perfect 2 way center at his price, what more do you want ? We need defence on our left at all cost and 1-2 good wingers, people dissing the habs don't have clue of what they're saying

@@PlyrMava. You hit your head brah?? They were 4 points behind the Leafs, and their fan base were planning the Stanley Cup parade all season long... They had a good year and will most likely make the playoffs next season. Other GMs made efforts to help their teams with players at the deadline(Columbus did a great job doing so) but Bergevin did nothing, and they almost made it into the playoffs! Look up the stats on teams to miss the playoffs with the highest amount of points, and you'll see this seasons team on that list!

Yeah Andersson looks primed to take Brodie's spot on the top pairing, which is why he's likely the one that moves. The Flames have good young defenseman that they need to make room for, and Brodie is the odd one out.

Habs Nation31 Id sign Duchene at 6.5-7 not so long term but that would be a deal. I’d take also take big UFA Panarin from Columbus. I see both players forsure would help the team but it could be a risk if you have to spend all your cap space and then in three years from now you have a lineup full of elc contracts that need to be signed and no cap space to do it.

I really don’t want the flames to trade Brodie, he’s been a great player for us, took a backseat when Hamilton was playing with Gio but came back this year and played great. I can see us trading Hamonic because his contract is not ridiculous and if he has a healthy season and plays well, then he’ll be asking for a pay raise while Brodie will demand pretty much the same amount maybe a bit more. Flames have a window, and they need to act now. We’re not bringing Smith back and if we wanna win we’ll have to trade that 1st rd pick and possibly one of those defence in a package deal to bring in a goalie. Try and move Frolik and a prospect for someone who can score on the second or third line. Biggest problem is James Neal, if he didn’t have a good year this year what makes you think he’ll get better? He doesn’t work with our group. Gotta find a way to get rid of him because he’s this seasons Troy Brouwer.

Jaideep Bura train wreck? Dude he’s been with us for almost 10 years. If they traded him last year I would’ve understood because he had a bad year. But this year he played really well, he fantastic at jumping up into the play with Gio and moving the puck from one end to the other. He’s not the greatest defender but having Gio beside you, he makes up for those mistakes, and Brodie helps Gio offensively. Hamonic is a more stay at home defenceman, he’s a big body which we need but compared to what Brodie offers I’m taking TJ everyday

Mark my words, whether or not Karlsson re-signs in San Jose is entirely dependent on whether or not Joe Pavelski and Joe Thornton are both back next year. If they don't re-sign then I would imagine that Doug Wilson may not even make Karlsson an offer because he couldn't afford to tie up the cap in Karlsson if he would need to try and replace two of his top six forwards.

I would love to see Karlsson go to Ottawa again but Melnyk is the main problem. He won't offer him what he is worth, and besides Melnyk is obsessed with having a younger team in the NHL. He still has Anderson on the team when hes complete trash, he doesn't want good/all star players anymore.

Scheifele, Byfuglien, Wheeler, Hellebuyck. All locked up, Long term. This is a winning team, why wouldn't anyone want to stay?

Yeah, and just like in 2018, and just like in 2017, and just like in 2016, and just like in 2015, and just like in 2014, and just like in 2013 etc. etc. etc. ALL of these rumours in 2019 will be just like past rumours and amount to nothing. NHL is always full of rumours where nothing happens - unlike the NBA where rumours actually and literally come to fruition and DO happen. Good job Sportsnet (and TSN) of always manufacturing fake hype when it comes to NHL rumours

Laine played the entire season with a back injury and a groin issue in the playoffs with awful linemates and still scored 30 goals. He'll pop 45+ next season if the Jets can give him an NHL center to play with.
