Well said Josh, I’m nowhere near as aggressive as you but I’ve still seen how it pays off. If you think ppl will call off in bad shape in plo wait until you see how wide they’ll call in big o. The major difference is in plo you can lose the whole pot if they hit but a lot of times in big o you’ll be free rolling for half the pot.

I’m glad you’re not selling. The plo series really put me ahead of all the low stakes players I play with. I can now realize the mistakes they are making. I’ve watched that series multiple times. I don’t okay big o but I’m gona watch this video and see if it changes my mind.

Professor, I applied your Big-O basics last night, and wow, played waaaayyy more confidently than my previous few attempts. Brought big hands to big pots against, played them very fast, worked to got all the money in by the river. I pretty much felted everyone at the table, left up 3.3k from a 1-2 game. Played Smart! Thank You Professor!!!

Professor, loving these and doing well when I follow your instructions. Can you do one on double board PLO bomb pots? Where I play in Houston we do these every dealer change, every 40 minutes. And the swings are crazy, trying to figure out when to stay when you have a monster draw, but only on one board, etc. Thanks!

Ty so much for the comment and watching! I still have people to this day tell me I have no idea what I’m talking about and that I’m giving bad advice (I just don’t think these people actually play cards)! On the flip side I have other people telling me I need to charge for all this advice! Lol!

Haven't played the game before, but hopefully I'll have a leg up on the competition when that day comes. We often play mixed games at my local casino. So you need to master various games, but they don't allow high/low yet despite me pressuring them too.

Would you consider doing a plo5 episode? I have been playing alot recently and I'm finding myself in alot of weird/tough spots against very aggressive players.

Hi Professor, thank you for this episode and the insight, I was wondering if you could assist me in comprehending the concept of "high hand" and "low hand"?

Great question! First thing always keep in mind all hands dealt and played will have a high hand - so having a high hand is no different than plo or plo5 hi only. It’s adding the low that becomes tricky. Low only occurs when there can be a goal of 5 card (3 from the board and 2 from your hand) that form 5 cards lower than 8. So a A2345 is the nut low (A-5 is referred to as the wheel).

Good stuff professor! Somewhere I heard that having a 6 is beneficial in Big O for those times you can 3/4 an opponent when both have a wheel. Thoughts?

It can be - but I wouldn’t be trying to focus on having a 6 often, you are much better off having any type of 3-3 combo.

Hey! Great content and got me into PLO. I got a question about flush draws. Have you talked about that? A huge leak i have is when I got the nut flush draw and I know they have top set. I push and it doesn't hit. Do you ever throw it away after a big bet on the flop/turn? Hope that makes sense.

Great question and Ty for watching! It really depends on their stack size behind. For the most part you should be getting the right odds to call; not sure if I would shove unless you had additional equity (like any straight draw to go with it). The other thing you have to factor is if you flat on the flop and the turn gives you the flush…. Will your opponent/s call when you get the turn? Couple things that vary there - but my biggest suggestion for you would be if your in position just call…. Out of position … maybe shove maybe call (depends on again if you have additional equity - str8 or an overpair).

My answer must not have posted. It depends on a couple of things… first is stack size. 2nd is if you flat on the flop will your opponent call when you bet the turn if you hit? 3rd - position. If you’re in position you should call. 4th. If you have additional equity like a straight or overpair draw…. Then I would be considering shoving. I hope that helps!

what percentage of preflop holdings adhere to the 3/3 rule? Surely 5% or less

You won't run into too many 3/3 hands; which is exactly why you need to get Money into the pot pre-flop. I would argue it is less than 5% of the hand. Ty for the watching and ty for the question!

I take it in 4 card the principle rule for starting hands would be 2 broadway cards, and 2 low cards? So something like AJJ3? (I choose that hand, since I didn't want to use some super nutted hand). Also, for 6 card what would be the starting hand principle?

Bare min you want 2/2. 3/2 is better - does require an ace. For 6 card you start looking at double and triple suited. 6 card I’ve played a decent amount, but I think 5 card hi-lo is the sweet spot. 6 card tends to get people to play OVERLY TIGHT, and the game usually sucks

@@ploprofessor Six card tends to be the most commonly played variant in my neck of the woods. Since the button gets to decide if they want 4 or 6 cards. Most people take 6, because it plays more advantageously to the player on the button. For PL0 I always choose 6, but usually take 4/5 for PL08, because of players being more susceptible to poorer starting hand selection and overplaying their hand on the flop. Not to mention way too many low hand splits. If you're UTG and you don't have a A23 or a suited A2 for in your 6 card hand. Your hand is most likely not worth playing.

Would you still apply the button principle to a limit game? My local game is 4/8 and can't really see much folding to a small bet if anyone hits a little something.

Is it 4/8 big O? My range is a lot wider on the button; even in a small limit game. The ability to add an extra bet or decide to bet when everyone checks is simply to powerful. I will fold buttons - but not many of them.

Wayne is a super cool dude! We went out to lunch a couple of times in Vegas, and have been texting each other weekly to try to set up some type of meet up game for Omaha. I like Wayne, he does play a little tight.... I'm hoping that I've rubbed off on him a little and he opens up his range (I've noticed in some of his last Vlogs, he's opened up a little more since Vegas)!!!

I play in a limit big o game. I understand what to do before flop. What about after rye flop

For limit you really have to press any type of small advantage you have. So post flop if you are drawing to scoop - you should be making 1 bet worth 4. I can get into more specific situations on a 1 on 1 basis but basically for limit if it’s worth 1 bet it should be worth 4 - if you are drawing to scoop. If you are only drawing for half the pot; proceed with caution! Ty for the question Ty for watching!

Repotting it with bottom set seems absurd to me when people in my game are limping with AA and could have any other set..

It may seem absurd…..but there are times when it makes sense to do it! And anyone who is limping with AA and any other wheel card - make a reminder of who they are - they are afraid money. You can bully them out of a lot of pots. Ty for the comment and Ty for watching.

Great question but to be honest I’ve never played big O where you can play all 5 cards in your hand. Big O is all about pressure - that’s going to be discussed in the next episode.

4 card Omaha hi/lo I apply a 3/2 rule. Need either 3 to broadway and 2 to a wheel or 3 to a wheel and 2 to broadway - that will be in an episode coming up!
