** Well, it's the next day.. Turns out Ashtyn's fan intake was plugged up and that is what was causing her to loose air flow and eventually plugging up her fert runs.

section control on spreaders is actually pretty easy. the belt / opening that drops the fertilizer on the spinning disk usually is hydraulically controlled. this way you can choose how much you open it up, therefor, you control the amount of product. so in other words, you controls the product flow. secondly, to actually change the working width, you also need to slow down the spinning disk itself, again, usually those are independently controlled through hydraulics (however certain manufacterers have found other ways of changing spreading width without slowing the spinning disk down, but changing where the product gets dropped on the disk)

We have a mechanical driven Rauch Axis M spreader with EMC and section control (varispread pro) and the section control only done by the point the Fertilizer drops on the disc. And i can say its 70-80% exact. The hydraulik driven ones are better, because they slow done the disc too.

Thanks for this. Did go to JD site to see what hydraulic pressure they will make. 2700 psi is no slouch. My stuff runs 3,000 to 6,000 peak on hydrostatic drives. Those big engines are suffering more from plugged air filters and exhaust aftertreatment than the 40 or 50 hp to run those hydraulics. I miss the old days when engines could breath. New ones make a lot of hp per cube though. Cheers from Northern California. At 2700 psl and 40 gpm, 63 hp

Hi Mike, I farm in England and it’s common place here to have section control on a spinning disc spreader, I believe on my spreader the drop point of the fert onto the disc moves and the disc also spread independently, other brands use Hyd drive disc and vary the individual disc speed.

One of the most efficient ways of getting your fertility on for your crop or soil health is by spreading it on. You can get high tonnage on very quickly with recommended blends put on whatever rate is needed to correct your deficiencies. If you correct deficiencies like that then the only thing you would put down with seed is nitrogen. And that’s basically to make sure you get no nitrogen losses by putting it underground
@gavinwolfe3238
@gavinwolfe3238 2 жыл бұрын
I do contract fertiliser spreading for a living, spread it all day everyday, all sorts of different types from different brands and I still don’t feel like I know much about it 😅 As for the technology, we don’t use variable rate for our spreaders. The hardware just can’t handle the variety of work we need to do with a single spreader. How our gear is, we can go from spreading nitrogen (of whatever version of it the farmer prefers) at 70kg/ha for a dairy farm in the morning then just open the door up wider and dial it up to 10t/ha of lime for a vegetable grower in the afternoon. If you just want precision nitrogen application then there are certainly spreaders that do that very well with the variable rate technology but they are very limiting for the types of work you can do with them.

Spreading fertilizer is a good way, because you can run variable rate with your rate/gps screen and with Case IH you can drop in a second box or more for separate types of fertilizer. The only bad part is wind. Too much and it can throw off your spread pattern.
