The transformer will convert 220v AC to 18V AC, then it will pass through the diodes in order to be rectified to DC using 4 diodes configuration, the voltage will drop to 12V DC and go through capacitor to smooth out DC output

That is incorrect as there is no full bridge diode rectifier. 4 diodes
