So Osamu Tezuka, the creator of Astro Boy, is called the God of manga. He was trained as a doctor but became a mangaka. Basically without him, we would not have anime as we know it today. When I was a kid, I did watch some Astro Boy, but also another anime that was made around the same time to capitalize on Astro Boys popularity. It was called Prince Planet. There has been a renaissance of Tezuka’s works lately being published in English. Some of the more popular titles that have been updated are Black Jack, Dororo, Astro Boy, the Phoenix, and Metropolis are some off the top of my head.

North no 2 had more character depth in half an episode than most TV shows characters have after 50 episodes. Why they gotta do this

North no 2 has no expression and looks scary but he's so precious 😭. You can feel when he's in pain and when he's happy. Duncan is blind so expression were never needed in the relationship between them.

I believe the surgeon who saved Duncan was a cameo of Black Jack. I haven't seen this anime but I saw it during commercials.

Being sincere, I had my doubts with the adaptation because Urasawa is one of my favorite mangakas and his work is magnificent and it's being said to be very hard to adapt. Now.... I just saw this in one sit. It's amazing, touching and a love letter to the amazing story that is Pluto. P.D.: With this, I can only wish for an adaptation of 20th Century Boys. One can dream.

I have yet to read this manga. I’m collecting 20th Century Boys right now by Urasawa.

The english dub for this anime is very good by the way, you should give it a shot
