A Review of the new PMC 6 studiomonitors from PMC's New Studio Range.
I also compare them to my set of PMC Two Two 6's and go through a lot of the details and improvements on the newer model versus the older TwoTwo's.

Great Video! You mentioned that you tried the ATC SCM 20's. Would you please describe the sonic differences between the ATC's and the PMC 6's? Thanks.

It’s been a while since i tried the scm20s! I liked them but they had no low end whatsoever. I currently own a set of scm25s, which are already somewhat light on the lows compared to the PMC6s. Both atcs are more midrange focused and really shine in that range, where the pmc 6 has a bit more lows and highs going on. Tho the seperation i get from an atc monitor i couldn’t get from the pmcs, both twotwo6 as the new 6

Wonderful Review" 5 Years ago i thought Dynaudio ist the best of the best, then 3 Years ago n the same with Genelec, Neumann, and then 1 Year ago i first recovered the real big Names of Studio Monitors...PSI Audio, ATC and PMC, KS Digital ...It was a long Way , but now i know what to do and will take all the Time to test them all...and then i will own one of these Studio Monitors. Iam sure i will make the right Choice. Thanks😀

Great video and commentary on the new PMC. With the improved midrange and extended highs, is it still a speaker you can go from mixing or tracking to just listening for enjoyment? Or do the improvements make it more fatiguing over long periods? I’m trying to find a powered monitor that can balance listening enjoyment and some light “professional” use. Thanks!

Thanks!🙏 i haven’t worked on them for that long, but for the hours i’ve spent on them, they didn’t feel more fatiguing. I do feel these could be what you’re looking for, i personally always feel pmc’s are a more rounder and pleasing monitor, but honest. So yeah, i think you could enjoy them for casual listening. I’d just give them a shot honestly

@@thomasvopstal Thanks Thomas. I’m glad I came across your comparison video when I did. I bid on some used twotwo.6 and twotwo.5s, not even aware the 6 had come out. And in the US, used twotwo.6s are going for $4000+, for $1500 more I can get the new 6. Sold! I’m going to tell PMC to make sure they take care of you in the future!

Thanks! I actually like the kh310s a lot, they’re great, they just really didn’t work on the ssl. 3 ways often have issues when theyre positioned on the meterbridge of a console

I have a set of KH310’s currently, having gone to the KH310’s from a pair of Focal SM9’s. 12 months later I’m really not enjoying the KH310’s. I find them a little mid-range heavy and they make my music translate fuller in the studio than anywhere else during playback. They make my music and mixes sound fuller than in reality. I have a treated room, have tilted the EQ profiles to translate as neutrally as possible and then also use Sonarworks Reference 4 in Linear Mode for extra dial in. I have tried multiple positions in my room and still much prefer the KH80’s, my SM9’s and my Genelec 8040’s of 14 years ago to the KH310’s! Speakers are incredibly personal in preference however so always listen to a set before purchase. I’m going to the PMC 6’s from the KH310’s. Despite their full range, I find the 310’s incredibly boring to work on!

Hello thomas! Good video! I had a question, how would these compare to amphions, especially because you mentioned you were looking for that midrange clariting where the twotwo6s are forgiving. I have heard that the amphions are very surgical, especially in the mids. What is your opinion, please share! :D
@thomasvopstal
@thomasvopstal 2 жыл бұрын
Hey, i’ve tried to make the Amphions work for me, had almost every model on the desk and even had the biggest model for half a year, but they didn’t do it for me. Especially the low end didn’t quite work for me, the lack of and the precision of it, but that could’ve also been because of it’s design and because it was sitting on a console. I’d still go ahead and try them tho if i were you!

@@thomasvopstal thank you for the response!!! I would like to ask you one more thing, hope you don’t mind. Have you tried genelec the ones? If so how do they compare? You see I have a small 12x11 feet room and the pmc6 and genelecs similar price point. I’m asking because there isn’t a way to demo for me so I’m relying on KZfaq :D
@thomasvopstal
@thomasvopstal 2 жыл бұрын
@@zerberk there must be some way to demo right? Especially for a set of speakers at that pricepoint. I wouldn’t dare to buy off of what someone says on youtube. Where are you located? Maybe i know something! The old generation Genelecs are great, not so sure about the newer ones except those coaxial ones, theyre supposed to be great

@@thomasvopstal Hey thomas!!! Thanks for the replies, unfortunately it is impossible for me to demo any of these, im getting a friend who lives in london to buy a pair and bring it with him in my country. Neumann Kh 120 + 750 sub has also been in my eyes. what do you think what should I go for in 5000 pound budget for 12x11 feet treated room? surgical precision is a must! :D

Hi ! Of course it is not that high class, but have you tried Presonus Sceptre S8 ? I'm working on them last 7 years, and now we've bought second pair for our main studio. I have a measurements and recorded tests of a bunch of different models, going to make review soon.

@@thomasvopstal What I've discover so far, due to their design you have less rejection filter from the console and walls, and great phase response. You can listen them here(this test was final point for me before buying Sceptres): kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ppqRi5lq1rjUhGw.html I've made a similar test few weeks ago, and got the same results. Since no a big possibilities here in Ukraine to hear and test PMC, I'm curious to see your review and comparison, and hear your professional opinion. But first of all I hope, my advice could be helpful, who knows ..) Regards !

Why do people poke tweeters? I work at a University and see this often. It must be some part of the human condition. Like when I start touching the bass port foam in my 20 year old TB2's. I know it is going to crumble, but I touch it anyway and it crumbles some more! Luckily they still have some in stock so I am looking forward putting the new ones in.

What is a desk filter?
@jaykay6412
@jaykay6412 3 ай бұрын
The soundwave bouncing off the speaker to your desk and to your ear vs sound straight from speaker to ear produces a boost in a certain frequency range which the “desk filter” will cut for a more flat response. The “cut” in the frequency response he’s referring to was too drastic so he instead cut that same frequency with a regular eq band and didn’t cut it as much
