Of the people I know and several reactions, many people are torn between Invincible and Pneuma as the best songs. I go back and forth myself. I saw a comment from a guy the other day that said basically my favorite Tool song is whichever one I just listened to. The transitions in Invincible are epic to me.

Yeah, except probably for the guitars on Descending. In certain parts from the 7:00 mark, there is too much fuzz and amplification on Jones guitar on the album version to my mind. The notes lack the simplicity and sharpness heard on the original live versions first played back in May or so. The music is great, but that section seems over produced to me. The bass and drum recordings are spot on though.
@Republic3D
@Republic3D 4 жыл бұрын
@@andrewlockett4569 That's interesting. I'll have to listen to it again to know what you mean. My favorite tracks are Pneuma and Invincible. There's one thing I don't like about the new album, and that's the shrill ping noise in the beginning of the Fear Inoculum track. I'm sensitive to that kind of pitch so I have to skip the intro.

Love you guys...it's cool watching you discover great music and the emotions they bring. I know you have delved into Yes a bit. I believe you guys have reacted to "Roundabout", a good song and "Owner of a Lonely Heart" from later in the bands career and IMO not the best example of what made Yes as well thought of as they have come to be. Next time you go back to Yes I recommend the epic "Close to the Edge" or if you want something a bit less lengthy perhaps "Siberian Khatru". Also another Prog rock band that I do not recall you listening too is Emerson, Lake and Palmer. ELP was, along with Pink Floyd and Yes, at the lead of prog rock movement in the early 70's. For ELP I would suggest starting with "The Barbarian" from 1970 and then maybe something like "Toccata" from 1973. They are both instrumentals but really do show off the skill of the band, namely Keith Emerson's keyboards and Carl Palmer's drums. If you want to go for the gusto try "Tarkus" which also features Greg Lake's vocals.

Tool is in a class all by itself. There is no other band that compares...maybe a little of A Perfect Circle is close because it is of the same origin but a little lighter in its delivery. I am a 63 year old woman, but I was introduced to many bands during the time my son was playing rock during his teenage years. He was a hardcore metal musician, so I heard all of the heavy hitters and I learned to appreciate some of the standouts...tool being one of them and IMO the best. They just take it to a whole other level.

What Alex said about not wanting old Tool in 2019 and wanting new Tool makes me wonder, why is it that no matter how many times bands write new music throughout the years, it's always the older songs that are popular with fans? Anyways, great song! I love the lyrics, "We are born of one breath, one word. We are all one spark, eyes full of wonder." I think it's so deep and I love the identity this band has established for themselves: great, meaningful songs, with big production, and changing tempos. Forgive me if I'm wrong, that is just the vibe I get from Tool. The bass riff was really catchy and stood out to me throughout the whole song and I loved the bongos, I thought that was an excellent idea. Because I played percussion in my high school concert and marching band, I love how experimental they are with the percussion instruments! With that being said, great reaction video and have a good one Andy and Alex! :)

A reaction to *Die Antwoord* would be even less gay than just sticking to the Tool, but I think some of it might get lost in translation. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qsyHotyc3K3Gep8.html (The word somefink made me think of that number I Fink You Freaky An Ah Laak You a Lawwt, but then I thought thats EDM, which is gayer than ... ... you know that band Seth Putnam founded? ... So then I thought to make the link less gay I must find something roffer than Tool. And Doosdronk even has a roffer title than anything Tool has. Not that Tool is gay, just it's gayer by a long way than Doosdronk (but much straighter than I Fink You Freaky ... ) )) Ag man ... I'd better post you I Fink You Freaky so you can spot what I'm chirping you, my brah)

So here's I Fink You Freeky (spelt it wrong before). Likely to be offensive to lots of people, so don't watch it if you don't feel like it would be lekker to be something offended right now kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bruVmMKeyN7aoqs.html (EDM. That's the point. It has the verb to Fink in it, but its gay - just like that band that sorta rhymes with "Annual Count" was - so I had to get something rof and skollie like Doosdronk instead)
