I wish Jupitermon and Junomon's alt forms got shown off: Her "Hysteria" mode looking like a Uterus is wild! Also, as someone into Aztec history, Mercurymon weirdly seems to have an Aztec theme: It's knife is named "Aztec", and the ability for the knife to open portals to the underworld and summon spirits, combined with the pectoral mirror it has on it's chest, evoke Tezcatlipoca, a trickster god associated with fate's fickle nature, sorcery and divination (via mirrors, which were thought to act as underworld gateways), jaguars, etc. The wolf helmet and geen hair plume also evokes Aztec animal themes helmets and quetzallalpiloni tassels, though a Jaguar rather then a wolf theme would have worked better there. In general, the Indiginous theming for Mercurymon is sorta haphazard: The "Shaman" elements and the leather and primitive looking pelt stuff is more generic sterotyping of Precolumbian cultures as a whole. Tlalocmon, a new digimon shown off a few months ago, is a MUCH better researched take on an Aztec themed Digimon, to the point where I made a giant multi page post breaking down all the cool small details... though it's clothing still visually falls prey to some common tropes and stereotypes of looking "primitive" or worn like ruins, rather then reflecting the actual garishly colorful, refined, and luxurious quality of actual Aztec clothing, aesthetics, etc.

I loved Kyle's reaction to seeing Dianamon. Her design is amazing and it was clear he agree'd.

Fun Fact about the Olympus XII: Nico already made a connection to the Royal Knights. The Olympus 12 rule a different server, the Iliad server, than the one with the Royal knights, which I don‘t think has an official name, but is basically the main part of the digital world. The Royal Knights are all servants of the host computer and „god“ of the main server, yggdrasil. Also basically all the lore hints at a comming conflict initiated by yggdrasil, leading to the royal knights invading Iliad and fighting the Olympus XII, which, my god would that make for an awesome video game setting.

Love Basket isn't a reference to any complicated lore, A love basket is just a basket of fruits or flowers you give to your partner as a romantic gesture. & Yes, Venusmon is holding a Sea shell, specifically a Clam Shell It's a reference to 'The Birth of Venus' the famous painting by Sandro Botticelli, depecting Aphrodite/Venus rising out of the ocean on a giant clam shell (I'm not even gonna bother going into how that relates to her birth, it's complicated & not remotely relavent to Venusmon XD)

Kinda disappointed you didn't do a bonus round with Plutomon since he's the Hades equivalent and while not part of the Olympos XII is still related. Could have also included Titamon based on the Titans and is considered a Rival to them, or Mervamon who is a variant of Minervamon.

Bacchus is another name for Dionysus, who has associates with partying and death.

Fun fact there's a digimon that only ever appeared in a trailer, (besides snowmanmon) named Diddledoodlemon. He's just a badly drawn picture of Guilmon. Lovely he is.

Vulcanusmon is my favorite Olympus XII Digimon and one of my favourite Digimon all around. Also as a side note, aside from being inspired by each of the Roman Olympian gods each member of the Olympus XII have a form of animal motif some way or another made into their design. For example Bacchusmon is a snake, Mercurymon is a wolf, Dianamon is a rabbit, Appollomon a lion etc. some are more obvius than others, like with Neptunemon, it’s kinda clear to see the fish -like appearance he has. But with for example Venusmon her motif is not in her actual design, it’s the bird she has as a companion (dove to be even more specific 😅). That’s why the “helmet” on Vulcanusmon is so big, it’s to better fit his animal motif which is an Octopus.

I guess one fun thing to possibly think about with Venusmon's design: Her eyes are covered with what is essentially a blindfold probably to reference the saying "Love is blind."

Presumably Olive is a reference to the dove carrying an olive branch (derived from the story of Noah) which is a symbol of peace, while Hotan (whose name is basically a nickname for a scallop) would be a reference to Botticelli's The Birth of Venus.

Nice to see the Olympus XII. My favorite though is Apollomon. Always loved them, always will. And I really did like their Whispered variant in the anime. It had true final boss energy which is such a shame that it wasn't.

You know, is pretty funny how much I love all of the Olympus XII, the one that I don’t know his attacks and combat style is Bacchusmon and the one that I know well is Mercurymon because he was the first big boss of Digimon Savers, and the guy really loved to spam Thousand Fist so much. The only interesting thing that I can say about Bacchusmon is that he is being studied by the Crack Team to create a poison to kill somebody.

I think this is just the Monster Hunter fan in me, but I really liked the bird island. Not the lady on it, just the bird. Dianamon was a rare busy design that was still perfectly legible and great, but I prefer the modern sporty simplicity of the snake girl. The blacksmith's design also grew on me the more I looked at it. And of course Jupitermon was good, but less so than the others I listed.

Ok, as a greek guy i cannot help but be pissed at Minervamon. She is the Roman counterpart to Athena, the goddess of wisdom, knowledge, strategies and battle (not war). She is associated with Owls, has a spear, and a shield. So how on Earth did they take those as inspiration to create a silly sword wielding little girl who has TWIN SNAKES on her sword. You know who used two snakes in an iconic moment from Olympus? Hera! Who sometimes acts like a petulant child? Hera! Who causes madness multiple times as a way to punish mortals? Hera! I am so mad....

I've always really loved Dianamon. I played Dusk, and I don't think Goodnight Moon was there, I think it was Crescent Harken, and you obviously don't see the attack emanating from it anyways, I don't recall it having a big role in the anime, and I never considered the possibility of the shin beams until Cyber Sleuth completely blindsided me with them. It's ridiculous, it's funny, it took me a while to appreciate but frankly I get it, not enough attacks come out of legs, so I respect the vision. Will say i much preferred how it looked in Dusk versus in CS, but that's also that I never noticed the chin and just saw the white part of the head as the full head, thought the chin was the neck. If you see the sprites you sorta get what I mean. And i did kinda prefer it like that but I accept the real face. Also in CS the shine makes the ridges look kinda 3d printed imo. Could've matted the blue bits at least I think. Still a great digimon, just not my favourite iteration there.
