Pokemon Horizon is like Regigigas; Strong but Slow Start. I like the character development so far, but I hope Liko and Roy find their clear goals as soon as possible for them to progress.

I wanna say this confrontation with Spinel felt intense, especially when Umbreon pulled up, Spinel hidding information from the explorers also felt on character but also for Pokemon it felt strangely human, cause every character sometimes feels sickeningly sweet sometimes so a character being selfish introgued me

Personally I love that Liko and Roy aren’t just going for gym badges. It helps them stand apart from Ash. That said, I definitely feel like Roy is the weaker of the two. I mean, he’s supposed to share the role of the protagonist with Liko but feels like he gets less screen time... Roy doesn’t even debu until several episodes after the show starts.

Horizons is definitely taking it slow, but from what i've seen it's definitely a lot more interesting than Ash's journeys already, because we got a true mystery regarding these giant pokemon and the goal of the explorers, who with the new characters introduced and spinel's unique attack methods, makes for an interesting new look at pokemon.

I actually like that Horizons is NOT doing the gym challenge. After 26 years I want to see something new.

It genuinely is very unfortunate that many people don't give Horizons a chance because "Ash isn't in it." and how it won't be the same without him. And they're right, but that is also why Horizons is so special and amazing. It has a whole new story, new mysteries and characters that are all unique to the show and in just 18 episodes we've already got some pretty good development for most of the characters, and most of the episodes so far don't really feel wasted. What separates Horizons from the first season of Pokémon to me is the fact that they now have all of the creative freedom in the world in terms of storytelling whereas before, the anime (at the time) had to do the “young trainer gets starter pokemon, goes on adventure, gets 8 badges and competes in Pokémon league” plot from the games. It would have been very easy to just have Liko and Roy do the same thing but in Paldea with their Gym Leaders and Pokémon League, but Liko and Roy aren’t being forced down that same path. they both have unique backgrounds and motivations that both drive the plot forward. And at the same time it still looks like they’ll get to grow as trainers, eventually catch a full team of Pokémon and raise them to be strong just like Ash did.

I'm really enjoying the show. Captain Pikachu is hype AF in every scene he's in.

Honestly I'm just waiting for multiple episodes to release and then binge it. It's a more fulfilling way to watch.

I prefer Liko and Roy's group of villains. They are competent and they are an actual threat. Makes me want to look forward even more to their adventures.

I feel like one of the biggest problems the show has at the moment is the lack of battling. While it was prevalent in the first 5 episodes, they have honestly become so unfocused in most of the episodes. Given that battling is one of the main reasons you watch the anime, I can understand why this could push a lot of people away.

The problem is that pokemon fans only care about nostalgia and fanservice, and now that we're having ACTUAL PLOT people don't like it. I just don't understand the anipoke fandom lmao, I personally prefer not having gym challenges.

I honestly feel it's still to early to completely judge or tell what to make of the new series. What I can say though is that I'm really enjoying the way the entire story so far has been seeming like an interconnected adventure, instead of the way pokemon previously has felt like just a bunch of filler episodes with only a few stretches of interconnected story. It seems like every episode untile now has lead into the next on, as well as often seemingly ending a lot of the episodes on almost cliffhangers for the next one, something that I actually like since it makes me excited to wait for the next episode. It gives me the same feeling as reading weekly manga, the way it all feels more like 1 big story and not just many mini stories. And even so the show still managed to bake the classic mini stories into the episodes while still also keeping the overarching story, as seen with Roy's recent little side adventure with helping out and eventually catching Wattrel while still keepig the overarching story with The Explorers who had been jamming the signals the last few episodes, and ending that episode with the cliff hanger of Liko getting her neckless stolen and mind wiped. It really feels like the show has perfected on some of the biggest issues the pokemon series has had for years now, The series has yet to fall into any predictable formula or really had any filler (even with the recent picknick episode which was somewhat a of a recap episode, it still included the start of Roy's little mini adventure with Wattrel, as well as some important character development between Liko and Dot). I feel like that the current main issues with there being not too many traditional battles, as well as any clear goals are some things that will be resolved by giving the series some time to flesh things out, we've already gotten a handful of moments showing Liko and Roy turning more and more into traditional trainers, we have to remember that the show can't really have Liko and Roy have battles on the same level as the ones Fried is currently having when they are already established as bottom of the barrel newbie trainers. I feel like the show is setting Fried up as an image of where Roy and Like will eventually end up as trainers once they get more experience. We already had that one episode of Liko and Roy practically learning the basics of battling, and since then we've seen both Fuecoco and Sprigatito learn new moves as well as Roy just recently catching a second party member, I feel like it won't be long until Riko get's to catch a new pokemon as well, with the way we've been seeing them both really evolving as trainers quite parallel to eachother. When it comes to an overarching goal, I feel like this is something that will become more apperent once more of the plot gets revealed. At the very least, with the way we've been traveling from Kanto, to Paldea, and now next we'll be going to Galar, I really do like that we aren't stuck in just one region, it's one of the parts that made Journeys so exciting, though again I feel like the new show is already doing that concept better with how we've been having actual plot reasons for going to different regions instead of the formulaic weekly filler adventure it felt like Journeys turned into, as well as how we've been staying regions for more then just 1 episode (and there also being interesting plot reasons for it as well). The team having their next objective in Galar, but being unable to leave becuase of the signal jams from The Explorers leading them into a trap is also a great reason for letting us see more of the characters, pokemon and cities in Paldea while we're here, if you know what I mean :)

BATTLES!!! It's that difficult to understand??? 90% of people skipped most of the anime just to watch the battles, it's painfully clear!

Tbh it also doesn't help when anipoke tubers pretty much stopped covering the anime as extensively as they said they would. I get that people went on vacation and everyone needs a break but its been utter silence from most anipoke folks that I follow. But I've noticed they still talk and bring up Ash constantly which to me, makes it seem they aren't interested in covering the new stuff. As for my take on Horizons, I'm enjoying it because it is different, granted the pacing is a bit slow and we are still waiting to see improvement from Liko and Roy. The mystery behind the Explorers is also whats keeping me invested. But to be honest we really can't expect such drastic improvement from two novice trainers in 15-16 episodes. Remember Ash wasn't that great of a battler at that start of his journey, not to mention he has SEVERAL seasons to grow into the best humble trainer he could be. I honestly think the issue is the older fans just want things to go at a faster pace, but having things go so fast will also ruin any development or they would just do everything off screen [and you know how HAPPY the fans were when they did that with Ash in JN] But not only that everyone is still pinning for Ash's return and tbh I think its time to move on from him. Don't get me wrong I do adore Ash, but honestly we have to let him go so we can really give Liko and Roy their chance. Everyone is hoping for Ash to make a cameo but what if he never returns. It'll disappoint every single person that was expecting that to happen so in all honestly we have to retire him until it actually happens. Sorry Charles didn't mean to make an essay 😅

I think the Nostalgia factor can set aside for the first 30 episodes or so because we need to develop these characters: anime exclusive one or game characters. I think the thing they need to bring up is for now is the gym challenge since it is a reference from the older gen anime while not bringing the old characters just for fan service alone. A lot of fans are really hoping that Liko will do the gym challenge somehow since it is a new formula of the anime but we are still waiting until now which makes people get bored. Y'know,alot of people are impatient nowadays so they need to take responsibility in this right away. When most gen 9 characters are decently developed,that's where the writers should start bringing up old characters from a glimpse.

Pokemon Horizons is really fun anime to watch, and I am kinda suprised that it's doing so well in japanese tv.

I miss Ash, I hope one day we see him again. I'm old though and grew up with Ash since 1993. I think you hit the nail on the head at the end of you video, it's for new audiences, not old audiences.

Honestly, I can totally hear the criticism on the protagonists of Horizons not having a clear objective, but the series is precisely built around the mystery that they don't know what their objective is. And actually, there are many shows written this way. I mean if I take One Piece, the most successful manga, the crew doesn't know what they're exactly looking for. It can be a problem with Pokemon only because we obviously associate the anime with the games and it's true us having the same objective in real life as Ash in the anime was an efficient way to keep us involved. But that's also a mold you impose on the series you can't escape from and forced the anime with Ash to become incredibly repetitive, as the games themselves can be sometimes. Also, the nostalgic argument is good to explain why so people aren't interested but I don't consider it to be a valid argument for not liking the new series no matter what. When the series with Ash started there was no nostalgia effect after all, like any other brand-new show. So it isn't fair not liking a show because it doesn't have the nostalgia effect and it's just not objective at all. The quality is there no matter what and if I'm being honest, I finally enjoy the Pokemon anime again since years. It's crucial to learn to move on or everything ends up stagnating. And they ended the series because audiences weren't there anymore since a long time. The quality of the show itself wasn't consistent enough and the new one has just better writing and objective new qualities that are appreciated.

To be honest, while I understand a lot are feeling this of wanting more gym battles, action and more screentime, I was honestly getting tired of the formula prior to Horizons. While I wholeheartedly agree with some of the criticisms considering we need to see more of Liko and Roy battling alongside everyone else (Aside from Friede). One of my complaints regarding Liko right now is definitely her development mainly because she’s arguably the slowest person out of three in terms of development, not in a bad way because I do love seeing slow development in general but she really hasn’t done much lately in comparison to both Dot and Roy. Not to mention that I personally wouldn’t want her pendant to be an recurring thing in the near future given it would really hinder her growth and I think a good chunk would want her to catch a Pokémon sooner than later because we’re sixteen episodes in without her having one and some people in the fandom are starting to get a bit impatient but issues aside, I am really loving Pokémon Horizons a lot!!! 💛 #anipoke

I think Horizons has a few problems that would be inherently wrong since its conception. 1) The protagonist change. It hurt the show greatly. Now you can successfully spin off a popular character into there own show. But starting with no reprising characters has never worked previously. 2) Different Genre the the previous entries. We went from a week day Shonen to at best an ill-defined Slice of life. This likely left any core audience behind. 3) Lack of marketable Characters. Anime as well as nearly all of animation needs high merchandise sales. However, we don't even have Pikachu the mascot owned by the protagonist or any other bankable Pokémon either. They all fell to side Characters if they even appeared. Pretty much this project was doomed at every decision made and more proof The Pokémon Company itself has no direction where to take the franchise now.

I think GameFreak’s biggest mistake was keeping Ash around for too long. So long that now most people are unwilling to watch Horizons simply because Ash isn’t in it anymore.

Lack of clarity is very very good move When protagonist reveals their dream in first episode and always go for it it's just... Boring and unrealistic However when we have a protag, that has absolutely no idea what they want, and allows fate to lead them, and later eventualy discovers what they want is realistic, relatable, interesting and of course makes sense

That data that Horizons was in the Top 10 is a misinformation, those chapters were more watched because they gave away codes for the video game Pokémon scarlet and purple. Besides what is really important is not the top 10 What is important is the "Rating Numbers" and in that Pokémon Horizons has the lowest rating numbers in the 26 years that Pokémon has been on the air.

The show has been great to me It’s cute wholesome comfort They are clearly building to something And no one has the patience to just wait? Before making any assumptions Why can’t people just be patient and wait for the whole picture before jumping to conclusions I hate what society has done to us conditioned us to be cynical towards something innocent and harmless and cute The show is still new it’s still trying to find it’s footing and it’s identity people need to learn damn patience

A lot of my friends when I'd bring up the Pokemon Anime they'd complain how Ash is still 10 and comparing it to Digimon or Yugioh saying how they'd switch characters every few years. However I know for a fact that these same ppl wouldn't suddenly come back if Ash was dropped, the main thing that kept a lot of die hard fans watching was the nostalgia and seeing Ash's continued journey. With that gone unsurprising a lot of the life long fans are gone.

In the end the show is for kids and not for us adults. I think the reason YT views are down is because that's where the adults watch it while kids watch on TV.

im so glad that pokemon is getting newer and younger viewers. as someone who is a young pokemon fan myself, i feel kinda excluded when people talk about nostalgic moments from the original series up to diamond and pearl meanwhile i only started watching the pokemon anime since xy. which was, mind you, 10 years ago (technically i only started watching in 2016 but still its been like 7 years). so yeah, it feels good to know that the pokemon fanbase isnt growing too old

I'll be honest, I had no idea I could even watch the full episodes on youtube, so that data could very well be flawed. I saw I wasn't getting all the new episodes on any streaming service (at least not now) so I "sailed the high seas". Certainly can't find it on my Hulu or Amazon Prime yet. Even now I'm struggling to find them here on YT even when you pointed out the channels...

I think they really did a lot better than its predecessor Journeys. A wait won't really change anything for me if they just remain consistent and keep up the quality.

Yeah but the Picnic Episode literally said from Freide himself WHY the had a picnic - not so much a recap - was for them to relax. You could tell the Rising Volt Tacklers were all stressed out, in case you hadn't been paying attention to the fact there are CHILDREN on board the Brave Asagi and that Friede is literally being in dad mode 24/7 and he sleeps with his GOGGLES ON Anyone notice that when they were arriving in Paldea? He was in the helm and in his chair. Friede's Pikachu is totally opposite from Ash's. Ash's Pikachu is pretty easy going. But the RVT are all stressed out to heck due to the Explorers and such; Liko feels like it's her fault because she's causing trouble (which - a child shouldn't be feeling like it's their fault and they signed up to be her bodyguard and its wholesome that they feel parental towards Liko, Roy and Dot that they want them to take it easy and grow in their own way, if you hadn't paid attention to the fact that Friede encouraged the kids to train which -they DID train in one episode even if it wasn't 'as cool' as Ash's training methods. The kids DO feel the need to get stronger.) Which means she wants to get stronger, she even states she wants to grow stronger to fight Amethio. Which proves she'll probably have a clash with Amethio in the future with her becoming less passive and more active - she's shy and less determined now. But so was Serena, but she became an active (Serena) character and grew into herself. Liko's different, and sure she's a bit of a damsel in distress, but Liko will probably catch more Pokemon and evolve her Sprigatito and a fight against the explorers (namely Amethio's Pokemon against Liko's Meowscarada or other team members I could see happening) whether or not Liko takes the gym challenge, it doesn't matter. Liko WANTs to get stronger. It's been said that. Do you literally not pay attention to the plot at all? Just because they talk a lot doesn't mean they don't show anything. There are obvious signs of the characters that they want to improve their behaviors, or habits, and also can we just talk about how the adults of the RVT (minus the grandpa) all SUCK at communicating? Like really.

Having the patience to watch a slow but good story building itself instead of needing the show to give you all the answers and excitement right away is what separates us normal fans from all the simpleminded idiots in the fandom.

It's sad people compare it so much with Ash's story. Horizons has it's own strengths and sholdnt be compared!. Also, people who watch pokemon for "Nostalgia" probably aren't truly enjoying pokemon anime in the first place. Nostalgia should never be a reason to consume a media

I mean they have a very great strong anime, but they should at least put a bit more stories for interest and take it a bit easy. And cmon we all love Ash Ketchum but, let the creators make .ore amazing ideas rather than it's just all Ash Ketchum references, but I'm not saying to not put some though, they might put at least one. Give them a bit of time and break, who knows maybe a surprise of new events are gonna happen soon in the future episodes. ❤

The people who arent watching new pokemon anime are not fans of pokemon but fans of gen 1

I think more than anything, it's that a lot of what gave the pokemon anime certain booms, are folks that aren't really hardcore fans of Pokemon or anime. Of course the first few episodes would have a boom coming off of the retirement of a multigenerational legend and folks just curious about what the next follow up act will be like especially due to the buzz around it prior. But then the hype machine quiets down and hype tourists move on to the next thing leaving the actual long time viewers until some insane hype episode comes out again, and the cycle goes on. Also a lot of the folk that wanted Horizons to be a sequel with Ash's daughter probably are boycotting idk lol

Well theyre kids and not every kid would have a clear goal. I do enjoy it a lot, especially the slow character dev and interactions, also the organisation and its goals and why these new guardians of pendants all of these are being setted up very well. Let's hope they stick with this consistency. The more slice of life and short pieces of action on how they progress is pretty fun. The only issue i have is the breaks rather than having breaks they could release the show in seasonal format. But maybe it doesnt work as this shows primary audience are kids and pre teens.

for me it is defenitely a lack of clarity. it just kinda feels like they are just doing whatever and not really having a goal. now if it was a slice of life style pokemon where they just exist alongside their pokemon and do cozy stuff like baking or other activities with those pokemon then i would have understood that. but them running from these people who want the pendant without having their own goals just makes it feel empty and unfinished. like the writer wrote half the story and said yep this seems great but didn't actually think about what their goals are making the characters feel shallow. like for Roy it's a bit more clear in that he probably just wants to explore and meet new pokemon. but for Liko she was simply thrust into this because of the people coming for her pendant. like i understand her staying on the ship was for the plot but why is she staying past just simple friendship. it makes no sense to me as a writer myself (i always make sure there is some kind of in world explanation for the things that happen or the decisions a character makes. it would be like someone joining the intergalactic protection group F-A-D from my story without any actual wish to explore or protect the multiverse. without any interest in any of that stuff. oh i just want to live a relaxed life? then don't join people who go on missions that could cost you your life unless you are some form of immortal like the leaders.) Another thing i feel is an issue is that the story just feels very stagnant. not even the rising volteccers themselves have some kind of bigger goal. like besides maybe being hired by Liko's dad at the start it's really not clear to me why they are even on that ship or where they are going past onwards toward the horizon. with the old installments they were travveling around the region exploring stuff on their own going wherever. it honestly feels to me like the ship just limits this heavily. i understand that it's probably there to have the plethora of reocurring characters make sense but do we really need them? pokemon has gotten by with a small main group and some reocurring side characters for years. and honestly i prefer that. it's fine to have episodes dedicated to those side characters aswell but for this it just feels like a bit too much. it doesn't feel like they are progressing towards anything just kinda wandering around like headless chickens. i personally do not care much about the whole ash thing and i think it is good that we get to see things from a different perspective for once since the reason i stopped watching past the X and Y series is because it just started to feel a bit samey. (i also just didn't like the whole Alola plot tbh it didn't pique my interest at all i watched some of it but i really couldn't get into it. then i did also watch a bit of the one after that but that one just confused me because they kept going to different regions willy nilly making the progression just feel confusing, and of course with ash suddenly not knowing what a butterfree is.) so i think it's a nice take to go for someone completely different. In short my tip for making the show better: Clarify the characters goals. why are they on that ship? what does Liko want from this adventure? and most of all let them do some stuff on their own instead of only rubber banding them to that ship.

I'm an old time fan of Pokemon. I started Pokemon all the way back when Gen 1 first came out (Yeah I know, I'm old) and while I have enjoyed each and every game that has come out since then, the Anime is a different story. While I have watched it, I was already tired of Ash and his stupid face halfway through Gen 4, so I am happy to finally be rid of that bumbling buffoon and I hope it's the last we see of him, although I doubt it. Horizon, however, have been such a treat. Liko is adorable, funny, and way more relatable then Ash ever was, since his only personality trait was being incompetent. I still wish someday we'll get a faithful Anime retelling of the games, similar to Pokemon: Origins/Generations/Evolutions, but for now, I really love Horizon and I am very invested in Liko and Roy's journey.

I just want a good story more than anything now. Yes. I like battles. But weve followed a battle focused pokemon anime for 25 years. Its time to change.

Pokémon Horizon is looking seem to be looking up. I guess these new protagonist aren’t really protagonists but supports but they need a bit more time to shine. But data can really tell a story. Pokémon Horizon is new anime, it for the next gen. Pokemon might have something for everyone and older fan but it does need newer fan to keep the franchise blood keep going. I am slightly more invested because of Iono.

I'm also not a fan of Liko and Roy being babysat by adults. It flies in the face of what Pokemon stood for, the power-fantasy of kids being independent. The Rising Volt Tacklers are wholesome characters, but they're just not interesting either. I don't feel any real charm from any of them. They don't even banter or tease each other like real people. What I'm saying is, they feel very shallow and 2-D in personality. I'm really not a fan of the bloated cast. Friede and Captain Pikachu feel like Gary-Stus, just for the writers to say, "Ooh, look how cool Friede is with that franchise's mascot and one of the series' most popular Pokemon in Charizard as his main Pokemon! Won't you like him?" It's really annoying to seeing them coming to Liko and Roy rescue seemingly every episode. They completely dissipate all the tension. I absolutely despised them

Since now we are now in a new era i cant wait to see what happens in story, meet new characters and hopefully I would love to see more gym battles too! I am curious is Horizons doing better than Journeys when it first began? I know Ash vs Leon, and the final episode were big, but that was to be expected. I know for a fact Journeys had the worst ratings for the Pokémon anime, but I don't know if Horizons is doing better or worse than Journeys as of right now.

I watched the first couple episodes and they were great, I hate watching shows week to week so just waiting for it to wrap up the season to pick it back up.

I'm in the UK England, currently I can only watch the first 20 episodes on official apps. I love the new series so far. My jaw hit the floor when shiny rayquaza appeared the way it did.... I'm very happy to see new main characters. Ash is a solid pillar of the Pokémon world but I've been wanting other main characters for a while now. I can also appreciate that for those who feel horizons is slow or lacking something that puts them off, it needs time to build up it's ground work. I'm in my late 30's and been watching since day 1, but on a personal level I would love to see ash as a adult, or adult as main characters. Not kids... Even in the games... And Id love to see a series about how the main character becomes a gym leader or high trainer status ans their skills are needed to go on a adventure in some way, shape or form.

Real talk, female protagonist in a shounen (young boy demographic) show = harder sale. Especially if she isn't going for a clear cut goal or setting out with a more masculine objective, ie be the best at *thing. Any sociologist could tell you men are more competitive while women are more egalitarian by nature. If you're making a show designed to appeal primarily to small boys, as shounen is, with female fans being a smaller section of the fan base, you need to have a clear cut appeal to that demographic with the main character and their quest. Use the heroes journey structure and probably make the male character the lead. It's not that difficult. They just made it more difficult for themselves cause they wanted to break from the formula. That will innately cause a lack in viewership. And the continued downward trend shows that the break from formula that they made isn't a goof one. Breaking the formula may cause an immediate drop-off, but if you're losing customers 6 months later and not starting to grow again post-bottoming out, then you've got a losing formula running. But I guess that's what you should expect from a franchise that's so far outside of acknowledging any gender norms that it won't even acknowledge that you're picking between male and female characters in the games. They think they can make a shounen that doesn't appeal to any male gender norms and still get all the little boys watching it just as much as when it did have that appeal.

Soft. That's what's wrong with Horizons and why it's losing the older audience.

I think the TV ratings are quite interesting and perhaps in the long run a good thing. A new audience growing up with the show could lead to a new identity for the anime than just being about Satoshi

for me right now its just the fact its not dubbed in english the only reason why i was watching journeys and to be a pokemon master subbed is i dont want to wait a whole year to see how ashs story ended horizons i dont mind waiting but i do hope that liko and roy find a goal soon cause if they dont i can see the fanbase really start not to like them but for now ill give them the benifit of the doubt

Ash was a force of nature who'se motivations drove the entire show the new protagonist seems like a passive bystander with no real motivations and moves where the plot needs them to

I love the new anime because horizons is more story focus series it has more potential I love ash but watch the original series ash get Pikachu meet brock and misty fight gyms and the league and that's all the story I'm just talking about the gen 1 anime diamond and pearl and xyz have good stories

I am a horizons supporter but i think the progression is too slow. Where 44 episodes in and Liko has 2 pokemon and there has not been one single evolution

That graph is literally the normal viewership ratio for pretty much any series of KZfaq, the first couple episodes will always have more views than the later ones, with the view counts slowly decreasing until it stabilizes around 1/4 to 1/6 the view count of the first video, so there's nothing to fuss about.

Honestly I've found horizons to be MUCH more compelling than Ash's series ever was

the fact that roys goals were set like 2 eps after he was introduced and liko is still looking for a goal (a twist i actually love) and people are still upset that there is no "set goals"

I think they would have a much better turnout if they at least had subs and released it on channels people actually know about. It's not like they don't TAKE TIME TO TEACH ENGLISH IN THEIR CLASSES OR ANYTHING. I mean they're basically leaving out audiences on purpose because they're so dead set on doing a japanese only run first. So....maybe they would have better ranking and more consistent viewer bases if they weren't so dogmatic and refused to adapt to their world market. I know they release those later on ect but that means nothing when your company is trying to research the actual merits of the show. They could make the mistake of canceling it or not providing the team with the proper funding or support off of those numbers. It just seems like the pokemon company whether it's with their games or shows keep shooting themselves in the foot. All that being said as an american viewer who has to watch this show without ever understanding a single word and watching on some twitch stream, i like the series. I wish i could understand a single word they were saying but alas.....here we are. I could buckle down and learn Japanese for this one series but I'm a viewer....i don't have to do a thing I don't WANT to do. It's up to a show to reach their audiences not the audience needing to work to see the show. I can always watch something else, it's up to a show's team to make me want to watch their show over anything else. Imo

I love Horizons! It is different to what we've been watching for many years. The creators made a solid story, with some mystery it is not as to in your face as Ash's journey (I still love Ash and co.).

Bro I just wish there would be an actual interesting, more mature Pokemon anime... I dropped out of the Anime in Gen 3 because I felt like I was getting too old for it. I continued playing the games up until recently with Gen 8 being my last game. I don't even feel like I'm getting too old but that every Generation get's more and more childish in a way. I want different things out of the Pokemon franchise and it's just not delivering those things for me so I dropped out.

I keep watching until the end hopefully it will pick up it pace with the characters and story line over all I like it different from ash journey but ash still going be favorite character in pokemon I miss him but time for next generation of pokemon with new characters and storyline but now I keep watching pokemon horizon and hope for the best 😎

TLDW: Pokemon fans dont find the story compelling. Its not holding new fans either. Yet TV number have anomaly numbers. Bored kids watched TV more in japan as an old favorite went off air and pokemon took the time slot.

without seeing the series myself.. (I hate to watch one episode and sit and wait for the next one, so I USUALLY wait it out so I can binge). I can see why people quit the series even just temporarily or permanently. 1. episode by episode release (people forget to comeback) 2. sudden "extreme" change of pace, from a kid we've watched since nefore the 2000s til now, clear cut goal that went through butter like a hot knife. Suddenly "we're not following his journey" and get 2 (presumably) random kid with some knick knack callback to some of the characters from the earlier series that are 100% fresh newbies that "gets pokemon" and just run around without a goal at mind.. obviously that will turn off many. Sure.. Ash ran around and sniffed some flowers along the road he was on. but he always had a goal and there was purpose to his straying from the path (most of the time lol). 3. Maybe the old guard is no longer the targeted audience, maybe this fresh start is ment to capture the heart of the young like it did with us oh so many years ago. 4. I think we're still in the targetted audience, but we're supposed to give it time to develope (hence why they put the mascot and other well known pokemons in there) But, they are trying to start something new. let's give it a season or two before giving up on it :)

Horizons has to develop it's OWN base, and the issue , some people are trying to get what we already received for years. Just like the games, we keep asking for the SAME THING! Horizons they're literally trying to develop a story that they can tell over years. Horizons is so much better then the originals , if you want the old pokemon, no disrespect, go watch the 5000 previous episodes. Horizons is for new fans , most people honestly are secretly burned out with pokemon. We can't keep asking for the SAME thing we already received since the 90s. Roy is a different character , I don't think it's right to compare , and most of the original was immature fillers, while each horizons episode is different . Horizons just came out

Personally I think the perception of the series needing constant battle is the issue. And, that's from people who grew up with that formula (be it from Pokemon, Bleach, DBZ, Naruto or One Piece) not being as aware of other anime story structures, especially for series that are more finite. In some ways, Horizons is a throwback, if not actually riffing on classic pre-2000 anime like Laputa, Nadia (which was based on a rejected outline for Laputa), or other series where one of the characters starts out with a mysterious heirloom that others want, but few actually know why. Often, the initial villains turn out to be a minor annoyance, if not becoming allies, as the truly evil "big, bad" only starts slowly revealing itself 1/3 to 1/2 of the way in.

well the episodes are not translated yet (voice acting) so the audience who cant access the series yet (e.g: children here in the Netherlands) I can watch it on third party sites or just straight from Japanese sites, but most do not have the resources to find thee shows outside of japan. so we should wait until the first batch of episodes has been translated into multiple languages

5:01 for the record chloe’s story was not underwhelming it was cute and unique and I applaud them for trying something different rather than making her another coordinator or something Her journey is just beginning with her becoming a research fellow and who knows where she will end up next time we see her
