Ash infernape blaze theory well in my opinion this is not blaze because he only activated when ash had chimchar monferno and infernape but when Paul had chimchar he activate normal blaze and Paul also said he caught chimchar because of his blaze ability and I think any scientists failed experiment makes this blaze ability because we never see a starter pokemon alone in wild maximum starters live in group for example trecko,mudkip,bulbasaur (in kanto garden with venusaur)and squirtel group in kanto and only specific place that can starters live well infernape blaze not reached it's maximum and full potential because ash said already he never try to using chimchar blaze he already said Paul in the episode when turtwig evolve into grotle in the episode ash said that blaze is powerful but he never want to awake that power so I think infernape blaze reached his limit but in my opinion ash infernape blaze have not any limit it is limit breaker . A team that really brought out the worst between each other. Ursaring fights so savagely due to Paul's training and commands while Paul pushes it to be as ruthless as possible in battle

Ruthless isn't the word I would've used but Paul did have Ursaring use it's aggressive nature in battle. And of course to get Ursaring to tap into Guts ability in a match, which would then give Paul the win.

Man I remember thinking Paul’s Ursaring was terrifying during that Lake Acuity fight. Seeing it clobber Pikachu hurt me on the inside.

Imagine if Paul’s ursaring learned facade in addition to its guts ability plus being boosted by its already aggressive battle style. That would be an absolute menace to face against

Ursaring was an early example of Paul capturing a really strong evolved wild pokemon. It may not have always been front and center but it did what it had to. Paul was a tough trainer but exactly what that series needed.

When I say Normal types are really underrated, Snorlax and Ursaring always pop up in my mind. Paul's Ursaring was really overshadowed by powerhouses like Electivire or etc. Really, this Ursaring had the guts to face fighting types and still win. Nice class. A really down-looked Pokemon elevated with elegance

It makes sense why Paul's Ursaring was so strong. You combine Paul's brutal training regimen and Ursaring's naturally strong abilities and you get a powerhouse Pokemon that can withstand massive amounts of damage and also dish it out.

Gotta do one on Paul's Drapion. Sure, it never really got to show much personality since it only appeared during the league battle with Ash. However, it took the "Ursaring position" by knocking out THREE of Ash's Pokemon in a full battle! Though it is unknown if it was the same wild Drapion that Paul was trying to catch in Chim-Charred! Not to mention, it could also be the same one that Reggie used when he lost to Brandon back in the day...

It'd be interesting to discover if it was the same Drapion as the Drapion we saw in the league was insanely powerful. It must have been a beast in the wild to be that strong

@@ProfessorAlexSilver I imagine it being symbolic like the same Drapion that Reggie lost to Brandon with which sent Paul down his journey of power being used to score victory over Ash (who beat Brandon).

It did help Drapion poisoned the field so any one of ash's pokemon that touched the battlefield would be affected. But yes, Drapion did do just like Ursaring and claim three victories against Ash's team.

I kind of feel that Drapion Paul caught was likely the wild one he tried to catch, before Gligar ruined the party since it may not feel like Paul to borrow one of his brother's Pokémon.

I always really liked Paul's Ursaring and thought it's one of his strongest mons. I was a bit sad when I did not see it in his last battle against Ash

I like Alain, but Paul is so much more well developed. The only Alain's Pokemon with actual personality is Charizard (pretty badass), the rest are just random characters. While we have at least Electrive, Ursaring and Torterra (at least) with personality in Paul's roster, not counting Infernape.

@Andrés haha alain is no where close to paul only his charizard is strong while paul didnt have a so called ace in his team his all pkmn were equally strong and a beast in their own way each one of his pkmn can go through a full team it was all because of infernape that ash secured his only win against him otherwise it never would have been possible

Always loved how the Sinnoh anime gave a lot of Johto Pokemon a second chance. I mean, Kanto and Hoenn pokemon were there too, but it made sense that they put Johto pokemon on a pedestal this time around

I’d like to think about it like that, not fully because of HG/SS, because while that would be a good reason, we were also just in Kanto and Hoenn from the Battle Frontier and Hoenn Gym Challenge/League respectively, while Johto didn’t get a whole lot of love, so they gave more to that region, besides Sinnoh Pokémon but that doesn’t count. But yeah more likely because of Johto remakes

Let’s go! Absolutely love this mon! This was one of the Pokemon that I always think about when I see Paul! I remember how much of a power house it was at Lake Acuity (one of the first episodes I remember watching) and I thought it was the most powerful Pokémon ever!

I never thought about just how strong Paul's Ursaring was or its importance. Ursaring in general are very territorial and prone to anger a lot like Pangoro. Great video.

This is a ruthless Pokémon who doesn’t care who he’s facing, all that matters to him is for their opponents to stop moving…and breathing.

Ursaring was certainly an aggressive fighter that served well for Paul in his battles against Ash and presumably others. Certainly a powerhouse in his own right, similar to the Drapion Paul either caught or Reggie gave (could cover about that one), but regardless could certainly handle nearly any Pokemon he was faced off against. Here's an idea for a new video: examining Paul's battle with Brandon since Paul was always calm under pressure in any battle but that one was far more personal to him. Based on his team of 6 Magmar & Hariyama were selected to take on the gym leader Candance, with Ursaring and Electabuzz as back up though that's just my theory.

That's part of the reason we didn't see Torterra in the battle iirc -- his team was mostly designed for cadace

@@ProfessorAlexSilver Paul may have been a jerk but he did go into a match with a plan in mind. Plus he did switch around his team every so often to test the strength of his pokemon.

I’m pretty sure Paul caught his own Drapion. He was battling a wild one during the Chim Charred episode, so I’m pretty sure he was aiming to catch one of his own. Plus, Paul doesn’t strike me as the type of guy who uses other people’s Pokémon to battle.

Ursaring technically never battled against Monferno. It battled against Chimchar again at Lake Acuity and after it lost the battle, Chinchar evolved into Monferno. But still a great episode, can't wait for a new one.

Paul's Ursaring is defiantly an awesome fighter, how it beat a fighting type just proves it wont back down, the perfect pokemon for paul Ursaring is even my favourite normal type so i was very happy when i saw this, great job my friend

Since Paul is confirmed to return in Pokémon Journeys, I have a strong feeling that his Ursaring evolved into Ursaluna, which is perfect way to debut it.

cool and all but I don't think they will introduce to any past pokemon who had the ability to evolve back then. I mean those pokemon are extinct, they only existed before the land changed to what its currently is.

Oh and another thing, I remember that Ursaring lost against Brandon. Paul wanted to finish what his older brother hadn’t finished, the reason for his loss had something to do with his anger getting the best of him towards of what his brother hadn’t finished. It’s best to focus on the battle in front of you than from your own personal feelings cause it can blind you. A while back Reggie was a battler but then decided to be a breeder instead like Brock wanted to be before wanting to become a doctor. He lost against Brandon and never went back to challenge unfortunately.

This may sound somewhat strange but feel as though Ursaring gradually mellowed out after Paul caught it; still sporting it's hyper aggressive attitude but was more focused on channeling it's aggressive nature.

I think that might partially be due to lack of exposure. It was a beast in its fight with Chimchar after its capture

I got my DP Victory Dvd box set a couple weeks ago. I almost immediately went to my favorite all time Battle Paul v Ash at the league. I know have the whole DP series.

Paul's Ursaring could take an absolute beating. Against Barry it got hit by Hitmonlee's HiJump Kick, Close Combat, Mega Kick, Blaze Kick, was Burned, then had its own Focus Blast reflected back at it, and was STILL standing!

Ursuring is a pokemon I like cause of Paul. Probably my 8th favorite jhoto mon. Drapion is another, it was originally my 4th favorite sinnoh mon but because of Paul it's number 1

My Arceus, I did not remember this bear taking out half of Ash's team in that Lake Acuity battle. That was brutal. I mean look at Pikachu's eyes when he got gut punched by Hammer Arm. What a beastly Pokemon.

I'm not at all certain this would ever happen, but I'd love to see a trainer with Ursaring (and all the other Pokémon Paul uses) in the Diamond & Pearl remakes. Kinda like Butler and Diane from the Jirachi movie

Likes Paul’s electivire, ursaring, was another one of the beasts Paul calls one for certain battles like we saw in the anime, I think ursaring is a good addition to Paul’s strong team though ursarings aggressiveness suits Paul to spite how he acts!!… tbh I don’t think I remember seeing anyone have a Pokémon like ursaring as their own Pokémon other then Paul in the anime!!

@@bijuutamer729 Paul was simply better prepared for that battle since he spent those 10 days training. Also ash didn't really have a strategy. But ash does win the rematch though.

Paul’s ursaring was tough, it even took out Pikachu one time with hammer arm after being paralyzed. That was because of its ability Guts, when the user gets paralyzed or poisoned, their attack power increases and that happened on Ash and Paul’s battle on Lake Acuity. It’s moveset was hammer arm, hyper beam, slash and focus blast and it was kinda one of the powerhouses of Paul’s team along with Electrivire and Aggron. It even took out one of Barry’s Pokémon, I’m telling you that Pokémon is tanked.

I'll give ursaring good moves like bulk up hammer arm slash and focus blast for my team as a matter of fact my team is going to be torerra because he's my favorite one in gen4 starter electivre because he's he's electric and fighting type magmortar he's like cool these 5 options that I have left to pick its either then garchamp drapeon gastrodon hanchcro or agron what do think you think what is your opinion to my 5 options left

Normal types are probably a top 5 typing but is still the most overlooked type Snorlax, Ursaring, and Slaking are all power houses
