Pokemon Scarlet and Violet was a story that took me by surprise by how much it spoke to me and you pretty much hit the nail on the head as to why it did. And might I say, brilliant deduction on Area Zero's place within the narrative and how it reflects these characters. I've never really thought of that. I think I want to add something about Nemona as well. While I agree that she is the least fleshed out she ended up being my favorite of the trio. I think that if one looks closely at her, I also kinda read the idea that she's a burnt out honors kid who became champion but hasn't really had the chance to cut loose and go all out since becoming champion. That she feels her best and the most in tune with herself when she's battling but since becoming champion, she hasn't really had anyone at the same level she is and has actively had to hold back in battle which to her I guess is like holding back a part of herself. And the idea of someone else on her level, a friend at that, excites her. Her final battle to me reads not only excitement at the fact that you have become champion but the idea of her own freedom to let loose and have fun in this thing that she loves as well once again. A good comparison I like to make in that regard is her battle theme from throughout the game and then the one at the end that to me just kinda read as "She's free." Haha maybe I'm just reading too much into her though admittedly. I love all of these characters but Nemona is the one that ended up standing out to me. Still this was a wonderful video essay and I'm really glad that somebody else in their mid 20s gets how I felt about this game's narrative as well.

I’m really happy to see others talking about the story in scarlet and violet. These games have been one of my favourite in a long time and the personal story they tell is just so good!

I just beat Violet, and it’s been one of the greatest Pokémon experiences I’ve had yet. There are so many ways to enjoy the game. The school is crazy in depth, actually useful, and full of interesting teachers. Collecting rare Pokémon with markings was so much fun, a great gateway to hunting Shinies. Great story full of memorable characters . Love this game! 👾👾👾

Actually Nemona and the other two get some more characterization and closure after you beat the Ace Academy Tournament the first time. Then you can talk to each one multiple times around the school, (like the teachers), and even eventually be able to visit their dorm rooms. Also this was not the first time Pokemon handled abusive Parents child relationships (Giovanni & Silver (GS/HGSS 2nd&4thGen), Cyrus parents to him (DPP 4th Gen), Bianca & her father, N & Gehtsis (BW 5th Gen), Lillie, Gladion & Lusamine and Guzma & his parents (SM/USUM 7th Gen). Lastly I would have thought you would have mentioned how fleshed the teachers and other supporting characters were. Especially since they and the school itself act as another subplot that acts a bridge to the three main storylines. By referencing and pointing out aspects of all three. Along with decent world building. Regardless this was still a good video.

Having the best storyline be stuck behind one of the worst Pokémon games out of the entire mainline series is the most tragic part about this.

Fantastic video. I loved the crispy smooth footage you used. This video is like a review from an alternate dimension where the game came out polished and we can all focus on the great stories. 😂

Just another pokemon story to me

This all seems super surface level ngl. Really cliche as well. At first I wasn't gonna comment but I figure it boosts you in the algorithm anyway so

I am fine with any Pokémon story being about being a champion since video games are about being played, not to be like a movie.

The school story goes against the open world theme because schools are places where you do not run around. People play video games to have adventures, not to be in schools. Schools work in the past Pokémon games because the schools are minor places where you are allowed to skip.
