Good video as always. I've found the sleep tracking metrics good if your interruptions aren't long. The ANS scores seem to match up well with quality of sleep. The one error I've found is the step count takes in most arm movements and hence over counts by a factor of 2 to 3.

Hi, I got a Grit X after my V800 packed a couple of weeks ago. it is a great watch but the HR seems to be absolutely appalling. I have been wearing together with a garmin foreruner 245, which is almost spot on all the times with the polar H7. The Grit is always 10% higher and often, very often and even at rest it spirals up to 137bpm while the garmin is at 67 or lower. Often just starts increasing for no reason! I tried wearing it higher, tighter, looser, it doesn't make any difference...any ideas?

I’m looking to combine both into one watch unit. What would be your go to or opinion on the Fenix 6 vs Polar Grit X vs Polar Vantage V vs Suunto 9 for this? I’m clocking both runs and rides each week. Looking forward to hearing your feedback!

About the cycling - ble powermeter compatibility feature before maybe buying I would like to know. All three Polar watches Vantage M, Vantage V and Polar Grit x can be connected with a bike Powermeter over bluetooth as a sensor and record that data, according to the specifications. That specification feature is the reason why I have bought a Polar Vantage M watch so I 'm able to use it with my Powertap G3 smart powermeter ble hub and rear wheel. Only during my first cycling powermeter FTP sweet spot training after connecting Powermeter. I found out that the Polar vantage M watch does not show my live powermeter values. There simply is a data field for basic heartbeat current average and max. But there won't NOT YET be shown such a data field with Watts on it. Therefor I was not able to see if I was cycling under or above the required 300 Watts FTP programmed sweet spot training. Only when i'm done training afterwards Polar in the workout summery only shows the average & maximum delivered watts. My question about the newer Polar grit x cycling features wich you have is : Rainmaker have you experienced the same as I have with the older Polar vantage M downside during powermeter connectivity such as : no live power meter values data field during the fietsen training ?

Had a GritX for a year now. While I like many of its features such as the sleep app it is lacking in many ways. It replaced my 6/7 year old V800. I’m glad I kept the V800 as I find for accuracy I still need it. The GritX is fine for every day activities as far as recording heart rate but as soon as you get the heart rate up a little bit you need to go to the next an external device for reading the heart rate (the built-in optical readers just don’t cut it).GPS tracking isn’t even close to being accurate it’s off by as much as 15% to 20% been dealing with Polar on this and they do not seem to have a solution of the problem. So for my long runs in anything that covers any serious distance I go back to using the old V800 as it’s spot on within a few metres. Kind of looked into polar as I’ve got 20 years of data on their website. Randy

Hi Ray and everybody else. Anybody knows how Polar imagined the deleting of saved activity directly on the watch, this one or on Vantage series (I think it's the same situation)? It syncs to flow and only there you can delete it, but it stays on the watch...and kind of ruins you "statistics" on the watch. On V800 we had Diary and ability to delete saved activity. I miss Recovery Pro and I wish compass/barometer out of activity also.

DC Rainmaker, I’m curious of your feelings towards this device now after Garmin released the beta update for detailed sleep metrics? I just bought the Fenix 6 and so happy I did while on sale. So far I’m really liking what I see, especially the accuracy of the awake time. I had the Polar Grit X and love the design but it still felt cheap for a 400+ dollar watch. Now if only Garmin could add fitsmart 🤔. Thanks for the effort you put in!
@Dcrainmaker

Yeah, Polar and Garmin are both doing good stuff in sleep tracking. At this point Polar is giving you a bit more depth in sleep metric data, though, I'm honestly not sure entirely how to use that added depth.

Nice video :) about the training load pro feature being a bit strange: how long have you been using it? I have a vantage m for a year now and it needed 28 days to give an accurate representation of my training load (i row/bike about 15 hours per week). This meant that it didnt immediately go from productive to detraining and vice versa. I think its actually extremely helpfull to keep track of my training load and preventing overtraining (especially during a racing season). Also, when you are overreaching (going for a 200k ride after a few days of Light training e.g.) it recommends mobility training the next day which i find very helpfull (and in general good and healthy practice). Again, love the video but i believe you didnt show the value of this feature:)
@Dcrainmaker
@Dcrainmaker 4 жыл бұрын
This video was shot after about 5-6 weeks of constant 24x7 usage. To me, it was more the fickle nature of it. The fact that it could sway dramatically merely in the timeframe of me eating lunch from overtraining to undertraining. Even if I did nothing during that timeframe...except eat lunch.

I was really looking forward to this device and moving away from Garmin. I like the look of it, and I love the Polar Flow interface. But when I got it, the distance and pace was incredibly incorrect (e.g. 0.5 miles on a 6.0 mile run). The entire track was recorded, but everything else was WAY off. The device firmware was fully updated. I contacted Polar (four weeks ago now), and they never replied. Maybe I got a faulty device, but I do not recommend.

@krismadaus4305 2 жыл бұрын
@@sdn7087 Hello! No, I never solved it. I ended up returning the device after spending the maximum amount of time trying to solve it possible within the return window. There should never be any difference in "Running" or "Road Running" mode, since both use that same GPS satellites. My problem with VERY incorrect GPS, not just a minor difference. If your is dramatically incorrect, you should contact Polar directly or return the device. I've never used a device more incorrect than the Polar Grit X (not the Pro), and I've used a lot of them. Something was wrong with mine.

@@sdn7087 If interested, I've been using the Garmin Fenix 6 Pro ever since. I don't have much to complain about, and it's similarly priced with some added features. I'm not a huge Garmin fan, so I'm still looking for an alternative for a long battery life tracker, but the bottom line is that I need it to work. Coros is doing a great job, but the price is high and lacks a web interface. Possibly Polar can do it with the Polar Grit X Pro, but I don't feel confident based on past experience (and I hate returning things). I think Suunto is WAY behind on everything (but used a Suunto Ambit 3 for a couple years). What else is left that can handle an 12+ hour ultramarathon? All roads lead back to Garmin, unfortunately.

I would not call this a detailed user interface. This is more of an overview. It’s hard to follow your instructions. It seems like your Actions (like press this button…) comes a few seconds before the explanation. Find myself rewinding and asking myself, wait which button was for that? I would make this a bit more organized, rather than jumping all over the place. One thing has to build on the other. When you jump around all over the place it’s difficult to follow and understand the basics. I just moved from Garmin forerunner to Grit x pro, so it is a completely a new environment for me. Not a criticism but just some thoughts on how I think these videos can be more useful

I am a bit disappointed. I am a proud owner of a Polar Vantage M but for a little more than the price of the Grit X (or the Vantage V) I would probably get a Forerunner 945 without hesitation. I don't need the music or pay functions but the route feature is not even close to courses or maps. They should have added some better map functionality.

The vantage V still is their premium multi sport watch? The grit X was introduced to be a more rigged version for outdoor activity. Similar to forerunner vs fenix with garmin. Technology comes a long way in 2 years, so yes there will be a better watch by then, and at a certain point hardware limits software.
