The idea of a blackout of the sun depresses me. I do like hearing of your experience though.
@gamingwithlacks

The sun being up 24/7 is VASTLY worse. Nobody follows a schedule so you'll hear power tools at 3 am. Even with blackout curtains every time you sleep it feels more like a nap than it does 8 hours of rest. And your chedule will also go out of whack and you'll be trying to stay up until 2 am not realizing you got work in 5 hours!

I am a rare example of seasonal depression in that I have it during the summer months! I can’t STAND summer: the heat & long daylight hours keep me hiding behind blackout curtains in air conditioned solitude during June, July & August. I would LOVE to experience Polar Night & know the only problem I’d have is when it ends😐

Hi! I have some legit questions. 1) Does the darkness throw off your routine or sleeping schedule? 2) Do you have to take a vitamin C supplement? And lastly, 3) Do night time mischief animals cause trouble all day during the 2 months of darkness?
@ASandreassen
@ASandreassen Жыл бұрын
@@BrittanyCope It can definitely throw off your sleep to a degree. But since the year consists of either dark all the time or light all the time, you can't really follow the daylight too much. I do enjoy the sun and love a holiday but I’d much rather live in a country that’s like this, just seems so magical. My favourite time of year is winter time. I am on Scotland though so we don’t get a lot of snow but a lot of rain and wind which I love getting home and putting on my candles pjs and a movie ❤ Svalbard I think I’d love to visit if I ever get the chance. @@nowandrew4442 I’m a disabled veteran so I don’t think that would work. But I’d like to visit. The fact that such beauty exists on the same planet I am in is mystifying. But that’s another topic.
@nowandrew4442

@@EliseDFENS As a 13-yr expat I know what you mean. I think it's a 'grass-is-greener' phenomenon. For me I'm fully aware that a large part of the attraction of anywhere I go is simply that it's not the place I will be in for a long time and hence the need to make the most of it. Even within travels, if I find a good spot and 'stay' for a while, I'll quickly become complacent about the view that's around, or the beach, etc - since it's right nearby, I can go anytime, and thus don't need to make a point of going every day. And the further back I go to my "roots" the more this is true. I haven't been to my original homeland in 6 years and only once in the last 13. :)

I lived in Hawaii for two years and it was a true marvel to live in an environment of perpetual perfect weather with no super dramatic shifts in temperature only slight dip into cool air and occasional storm.. so often it felt like a dreamscape dreamland.. yet my heart is curiously continually pulled toward the Arctic environment.. something so special feels to exist there.. an ever present yearn to absorb firsthand.. love your video sharings thankyou🤍

I have always believed in 'those were the nights' rather than 'those were the days' so I'd absolutely love it!

I used to live in Scotland, we had months where it was light after midnight! During softball season we’d have games starting at midnight! It was different, and took a bit to get used to it. Other times it was dark most of the day. I loved it but I loved Scotland. The people were amazing!

I would need lots of a Vitamin D supplement. The Northern Lights though dancing at night must be a nice swap for the sun.

I might accidentally hibernate (sleep) the entire time. I don’t know if I could do it because I get weird when it rains and is gray for 3 weeks, like it does in Northern California. I don’t walk around too much at night because there are a lot of skunks and bad people, but I remember enjoying it, lol. I have a feeling that you would love anywhere you are because you seem extremely positive-prone. You make it look awesome.

I loved Svalbard. We sent Christmas there in 2108 and I thought the polar night would really affect me badly. I was surprised that it didn't in the week that we were there. It's a wonderful place.

At least u have snow, makes it pretty and will help reflect moonlight. I live on the north of Scotland and obviously we don't get the same light as u but winter can be so depressing, very short days in winter. And lots of rain and wind. It's hard work
