Owned a 95 Indy 500 EFI from about 2005-2017- Todd is spot on on all advice here. He mentions all of the on-line guys that helped me keep mine running as long and as well as it did. New battery at least every other year and clean electrical connections. I beat the snot out of that sled and it always handled whatever situations I threw at it! Just bought a pair of 96 carb Indy 500’s- been out of the sport for about 5 years, looking forward to riding again! Todd- nice job on this video! Great tips and info on the ole EFI’s. Cheers!

Couple things we encountered a lot was power draw from aftermarket hot grips, thumb warmers, face shield warmers, helmet coms, etc. adding extra load to charging system and either total draw or improper install dropped power and caused issues. TPS even if not tripping a code absolutely critical on the EFI Poo sleds too. Annual fuel filter changes and batteries, as noted a must- just do it. Most ECU failures encountered were on '90 1/2 pre-production units and '91 prod units or units that sat outside uncovered. By mid-'92 saw way fewer ECU failures. Lastly, if the sled has had the EPROM changed for pipes, those did fail at a reasonable rate, and here we are 30 odd years later and with so little known history, worth checking to see if it has a stock EPROM or not. Kudos to the faithful and keeping the old girls chuggin along!

Never owned an RXL never really sean any around my area but would love to own one .

I have the exact same sled. They are awesome sleds! Last winter though my positive battery wire touched the metal battery box while driving and shorted something out. Headlight bulb blew and lost everything on the dash (all dash lights and every guage reading). Funny thing is the sled still runs great. I replaced the voltage regulator and no help. I'm thinking maybe the stator went?

The Polaris EFI system from 91 model year until 96 was a good system and still is in my book. I have an actual Polaris Select Monitor for these EFI Polaris' that I bought about 15 years ago but I have never used it . I also have the micro chips for putting SLP pipes on an RXL that came with the Select Monitor.

Ha, those T-shirts have the old 1995 Pro-Five racing logo! I have a purple sweater that I bought at Pro-Five which used to be just outside Rosuea! Still one of my favorite sweaters. I'll definitely have to be getting a few of them T-shirts! 🙂👍👍

Before our Polaris shop closed up, there was a mechanic had an RXL all slammed to the ground, loud pipes, straight stingers, castor oil/hi-test race gas, studded out track...the only vehicle that I have ever heard that sounded similar or possibly meaner were the F1 cars with V-10's. And I thought my Ultra SPX was bad-assed.

The only thing I got to say buddy is you expire me to keep searching for older polarises especially the 650 680s I like the 700 but nothing beats the 650 or the 680 keep up the good work man you are doing a fantastic job

I sure liked my ‘94 500 fuelie back in the day, until I got my ‘96 XLT Special. Lolol. That 500, by the way, is still seeing use as a “Cabin Sled” by the older couple I sold it to. One of my buddies has a 650 RXL that’s been sitting in the back of his garage for 25+ years. I’ve bugged him about it a few times, but, well, he doesn’t sell anything. Ever. Great info to know if I ever do get my hands on it. Thanks.

I bought my kid a 680 ultra me and the wife have xlts that run great cable is bad on his sled I bought an XLT cable for it but the idle super high is there a difference in the length of the cable or do I have the coil packs f***** up please respond would love help watch all your videos
