How to use the lighten/darken control on your polaroid or instant camera! Here's a quick summary of what you need to know:
darken= shorten exposure and add dark
lighten= lengthen exposure and add light
Remember the real trick to getting a great print is lots of practice! So shoot a lot and share your results with us in the comments! (tag your shots with #THCCpolaroid on Insta)

love Gracie! also good explanation of Polaroid exposure control, it's just a bummer that it costs $2 and change to see if you got the exposure right lol

Your channel is so helpful! Just found a Nikon (COOLPIX900) digital camera, as well as a Polaroid OneStep closeup at a yard sale. That is now five growing into more i'm sure. One minute manual is awesome, and very easy to go back to for reference. Not sure what the project will be yet! As always with these things you can't rush creativity. :0

Don't be nervous, be excited! If I were you I would buy the expired film bundle so that you can practice shooting. Here is a link: us.impossible-project.com/collections/film-for-polaroid-sx-70-cameras/products/expired-film-for-polaroid-sx70-cameras It's much cheaper than the regular film packs!

Thanks for the explanation. You didn't mention where to keep the exposure knob on the Polaroid OneStep camera when you want to allow the camera to select - and don't want to lighten or darken it. Should the knob be kept be right where the dark squares and light squares meet?

When you say lite from behind do you mean behind you taking the picture ? Or the sun. Behind the dog facing the camera ?

My polaroid pictures are getting super dark. My camera is the 1000 Polaroid camera (OneStep) and I'm confused about the exposure knob. There are some white marks on one side and black marks on the other. Are the white marks to lighten the picture?
@TreehouseFoto
@TreehouseFoto 7 жыл бұрын
Rodrigo Horta Yup turn the knob to lighted and make sure you are taking your photos outside in the sun. I would only turn the knob halfway to lighten.

Do I need a flash bar to take photos with my SX-70 rainbow cam? I bought some expired film but the photos keep coming out just blue. No real development. I bought a pack of regular color film as well I just don't want to end up wasting it. Please help! :D
@TreehouseFoto
@TreehouseFoto 7 жыл бұрын
A few questions to help you figure out the problem: How old is your expired film? Did you keep the print in the dark while it was developing? Are you shooting outside in the daylight? If your answers are: "not that old, yes and yes" and you still have issues you may have a problem with the camera. You should not need a flash to shoot outside in the daylight. Your print should only be blue while developing. My latest video (1 pack 2 polaroids) has a print developing at the end and you can see the blue that shows up with the impossible film. Let me know if this helped! DM me on Instagram @treehouseimagery if you need anymore.

i have a polaroid one step and i’ve had the knob set to the middle but all my pics are coming out unfocused and way too bright, even though i know i had it still and the knob was in the middle. is it my film or my camera?
@TreehouseFoto
@TreehouseFoto 6 жыл бұрын
Sounds like your camera is overexposing I would turn the knob toward darken, about halfway and try one like that. Also don’t forget to put your pic in the dark for like 5 mins after you take it!
@abbychristine2783

i ended up turning it down to the second darkness setting and it was way too dark? it's almost like my camera only has two extremes? and i hide it for ten minutes, could that effect it in some way?

with the photos you took with the Polaroid 600 camera did you use flash and can you please tell me during what time of the day this was taken. thanks.

george ore I actually didn't use any 600 film for examples. The only square Polaroid I used was toward the end of Gracie on the stump. That was taken with sx70 film. I did not use any flash in these images. The outside pictures were taken in full sunlight (midday)

The pictures with the dog on the chair?
@TreehouseFoto

george ore the ones on the chair were taken with peel apart film FP 100C I believe. Natural light coming from behind the camera. No flash. The square format photo is toward the end of the video

Is there a light meter visible in the viewfinder?
@TreehouseFoto
@TreehouseFoto 5 жыл бұрын
no! that would be amazing, but there is not full manual control over the exposure, that's probably why there is no meter.

What ab the fuji cam 7s?
@TreehouseFoto
@TreehouseFoto 7 жыл бұрын
Hi, the fuji 7s doesn't have a lighter or darker option, but rather you can set based on your surroundings for the perfect shot. It adjusts the exposure and flash for you based on the brightness that you set. So the house is for indoor or dark shots and the Bright sun is for full sun/outside
